So I read on the wiki that the scraps are a common drop from Black Lion Chests. I spent 60g, which is basically just about every coin I had, on gems for 20 keys. End result: I have 2 scraps and I’m out 60g. So which Anet employee decided to trick the world by updating the wiki saying that scraps are a common drop? 1/10 is not common. 1/10 drop rate means 9000 gems. Do the math on how much that will cost you. Sinister ploy to get people to buy gems? Clever!

So then I’m like OK it’s just 60g I’ll make it back in a few months no biggie. Maybe I’ll have some luck getting these awesome skins doing the Candidate Trials! 3 hours later of just nonstop grinding t3 trials, I have come up empty handed. Well, you know I expected that. Dulfy said it was a rare drop. Rare in Anetspeak means why even try?

So, you know what? That’s not a problem. I read on Dulfy these skins aren’t account bound! You can buy them on the Trading Post! …Well godkitten 60g for one skin! I should have just spent my entire savings on a skin in the first place! Sure I’d be dirt poor but I’d have one out of the two pistol skins that I wanted!

I’m sorry that you felt you were required for any reason to obtain an aetherized weapon in order to complete any of the content in the game.

you’re on day 2… give it time, dont rush it. Its a grind if you make it into a grind. The price will likely drop as more people get more of them and they start to try to undercut each other. So my suggestion is if you enjoy the trails do a bit of that so long as you’re enjoying, as soon as you stop enjoying it play whatever you enjoy and make back some gold hopefully in 2 weeks you’ll make enough gold to afford the 2 pistols you need.

worknig as intended as this has nothing to do with the manifesto, grinding? excuse me? you just spent money on BL chests, hardly a grind and tbh I dont beleive your story, I think your exagerating because with 60g you could have BOUGHT an aetherized weapon since anet was nice enoguh to make the trial versions sellable.

I could understand if those things were priced at ten times that price but come on! And prices are likely to go down (the scepter skin is already at 25g), at least for a while.

Which brings me to my next questions: will aetherized skins and black lion tickets/scraps remain available even after the event? Will we still be able to trade them? I’m asking because I really want to make a full set of them for my elementalist and I need to know how much I have to hurry~

impossible? how is it impossible when there are several ways to get them?

Easiest way is to buy them with real money. You have 2 options there, try your luck with lockbox or just convert the gems to gold and buy them off the trading post. current gem to gold conversion is 100 gems to 2.5g so it will cost you about $30 per skin if you buy the most expensive sell orders or about $10 if you put in a buy order of your own. As I have already pointed out we’re on day 2 when these new skins where introduced… so far they’re rare as more and more of them drop the price will likely drop as well.

You can also play The trails you can get lucky and get a drop there.

You can also play whatever you like and use the gold you earn to try to buy the skin off the TP.. it will take an effort to make 30g – 60g in 2 weeks but its not impossible.

You can also ignore the skins all together… there is more to an update then the skins it provides. Besides unlike previous months these skins are not going anywhere so you can save for them in the long run though i would imagine once the event ends prices will go up a lot.

Yet as it is I dont see how they’re impossible to get for anyone!

yes they will remain in game from what i understood but there is a catch. Right now while the event is going it takes 1 ticket to buy one skin. once the event ends it will take 5 tickets per skin.

I am not 100% sure so if someone things i am wrong please correct me.

I’m somewhat glad to hear it will be permanent, but whether it stays or not, trying to get it through gemstore as it is now with this stupid casino rng crap is just something i wont ever do.

that pistol skin made my knees weak. it clouded my judgement. the wiki said the scraps were common drops so i figured i could save money buying keys. isn’t that what common means? but everything is clear to me now. i understand the game is rigged and you won’t make me grind for weeks or spend my hard earned gold again Anet!

I just got my longbow skin: Total cost 178 gold. Converting gold to gems.

I bought a horn, they add a sound slider/mute.. everyone has it on off now so waste of gold again.

I have learned from this and i will never ever spend 1 single copper in the gem shop again.

Whats with all this impatience? Not that you’re doing anything wrong by supporting the game, go right ahead but why does not body give the game a chance to drop one for you people or at least give time for other people to get drops and the price to fall abit. We’re on day 2 out of 14!

Yes the scraps are a common drop together with the 12 boosts, mystery tonic, trader and bank express , instant repair, guild discovery and bag of coins.

Its essentially 1 guaranteed drop out of any of those which means its still far from sure you’re going to get one each time. Its not rare its just there is a big pool of stuff thats common drop and you only get 1 or 2 in a single chest.

Thats why i got 0x scraps from 10 boxes yesterday

yes if you got 20 different items that are common and you open 10 boxes that got up to 2 common items in each its perfectly reasonable to open 20 boxes and find none. Does that make you happy? no and its understandable that it doesnt make you happy but there is a difference between a false claim and things not going the way you wished.

Think of it as a dice roll. If you have a 20 sided dice and you roll it 20 times is it that outrageous if not once say number 8 comes out? does that mean that 8 is somehow more uncommon to the other numbers? no, in this example ever number has exactly the same chance of coming out hence every number can be said to have a common drop rate but that doesnt mean that if you favorite number is 8 and you roll the dice 20 times you’re going to get 8 most of the times. A common drop rate doesnt mean will drop all the time it means it has a high chance to drop but its important to keep in mind that there are other items that have a high chance to drop and you’re only going to get 1 or 2 of them.

I had a dozen keys sat in my bank so decided to use them yesterday.

I won’t ever bother with rng boxes again.

Not one reply said you dont need it as far as I can tell, actually all replies focused on multiple ways on how to get the skin but I guess you didnt read a single one since you’re incorrectly implying that you can only get the skin by spending tons of gold. They also drop through the trails mini game and you dont need to spend a single copper there so no need to farm cof p1

Welcome to Anet new ploy to trick people into buying RNG boxes. They tricked people with the promise of “better drops” from rich dragon coffers, which the drop increase was still dismal. Now they are tricking people again saying you will get scraps from BLC are “common”. Here is the thing, they won’t just tell people the % drop rates. They just make general claims, if they won’t just be fore coming with actually drop rates, that should be red flag how much of a scam RNG boxes are. RNG boxes are a scam, don’t buy them no matter what is promised unless they give you REAL odds of winning.

Learn from it and never spend money on them again – maybe then they will stop this nonsense.

With the dragon coffers and the fortune scraps, it really seemed like they were going in the right direction…until this.

If this was day 13 then what you just said might make sense but we didnt even really begin day 3 yet since most of us are still at work. So yeah not really a shocker that a few people didnt get a single drop yet. That being said there are at this point in time 158 skins on sale on TP. This doesnt include god knows how many skins that have already been sold. Also while its possible some of those came from the black lion chests I doubt many people spend real money to get a skin just with the intention of selling it, not on the first two days where they could have farmed them for free, so yeah I am sure most of these 158 skins, if not all of them, are drops people got in that mini game. So yeah this is definitely not something that occurs only in my fluffy imaginary world of mine I am afraid.

Ohh but please dont get any of this as some sort of master plan to save you some money and get you to enjoy the game by pointing out other cheaper ways how to get those skins. If you feel 2 days without a drop is time to give up and take out your credit card, I sincerely thank you for helping out finance the game. I will go back at trying my luck in that instance… you never know I got 2 drops off SAB (not bought with tokens actual drops), 3 drops of Dragon Coffers as well as the full wings so yeah that most certainly happens.

The skin version doesn’t even drop from the minigame.

Even a thousand rare aether weapons dropping by now isn’t a good size for a game this big.

yes I am sure everyone is buying those rare weapons for 50g+ just for their amazing stat values. Come on, obviously everyone who’s buying them is doing so for their skins. Just cause you need to transmute them in order to use them doesnt make them any less of a skin.

Anyhow its up to you… 1000s of dragon weapon tickets didnt drop in the first couple of days either but I got 3 by just playing the game. Like I said if you feel you want to give up after 2 days no one can stop you.

I was just pointing out there’s far less, if any, of those rare versions than the skins that drop from blc.

I would sure hope so, someone who’s paying money should most definitely get a bigger chance at these skins than someone who’s not.

They could have just as easily made these skins cash shop only and without any possibility of using in game money to get them (IE no RMT) but they didnt. That doesnt mean they’re not allowed to put in incentives for people to pay real money, they most definitely should. But saying that spending money is the only way to get these skins is simply false. Do you need to put in a little effort to get them? sure but why is that such a bad thing?

its 14 days… how much effort can you put in 14 days! It wouldnt be an endless effort even if you played 24/7 which you most definitely dont need to. So yeah I may be silly but gees with all due respect you do sound a little bit spoiled especially considering you’re complaining about this “endless effort” just after a little over 2 days. Seriously which MMOs do you play where you get what is rare loot in less then 2 days?

The whole point of prestige skins is that they’re hard to get. Now you can have hard to get like past MMOs did, rare spawns which were truly rare. Just google a bit everquest you’ll find people who spend months just to get to find and kill one of these rare spawns and they didnt even have a guaranteed drop. You can also have rare items by making drop rate a bit hard. And no Gw2 drop rate isnt that bad. in SAB I had 2 drops in 14 days, Dragon coffers, 3 drops in 14 days. Sclerite weapons personally I had none but didnt try a lot on that one for that time I was busy and maybe spend 2 – 3 hrs max. Compare that to rare drops in say WoW. There is one mount where odds of getting it are thakittens likely to drop after 48 years… yes you heard that right 48 years. thats because this month has a 1% drop rate in a raid that has a weekly cooldown and is 25 man.

If you dont enjoy going after rare loot then just dont go after rare loot its that simple. There is a reason why they’re putting skin rewards for this and not Best in Slot items like other MMOs do. there are plenty of other skins you can get with a set predefined effort required that you can take as long as you need to achieve. You might find those to be more your thing.

if you find playing a mini game for 2 weeks grinding then yes thats what I am saying. As for gold, you dont have to spend gold in the gem store you can buy them directly from TP but again it depends how much those skins are worth to you. Currently its between 10g – 40g depending on which one. Its entirely up to you. But I am curious what are you saying exactly? that because you find playing 3 hrs excessive every reward should drop in less then that? are you saying that everyone else should have no goals to work towards in the next 13 days because you’re too impatient? Is that somehow a fairer view in your opinion?

I didnt spend a penny. I got a ticket from the first box I opened with a key I got from completing a map. I instantly sold the skin on TP for 60 gold.

So the drop rates are crap? Yeah, it’s gambling! The house always wins. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be a better way to get these out there, I’d love to be able to just buy what I want out of the store. But that’s not how it works, and no one has obfuscated that fact. If you’re going to gamble, you know you’re going to lose. You win some, lose some, it’s all a game to me.
