Hello!

I’m curious about the other great, named exotic skins. You know, I’m perfectly happy about Gw2’s reward system. Its awesome that our gear upgrade = cosmetic upgrade. Its fine! Honestly, I think this is the best thing that could happen to the MMO world.

However as you said, you wanted players to create their UNIQUE characters. Sadly, its not working like that now. Everybody walking in the same armors, with the same weapons and etc… A few people do have some nice gear, but instead of getting me excited to trying to get something like that too, I’m like:
-“Meh..I would like that too…but too boring to grind.”

Why is that? Thats because the skins are just…well..“expensive” time wise. Who the hell wants to grind for a skin? Doing the same thing over and over again?

Let me get and example here:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Volcanus

Honestly? Why should we get that many Molten Lodestone? Are you serious? Where is your creativity?

Volcanus – Fire sword..ok…I understand! So, why not just make some quest around the items?

Exmaple

  • Keep the scroll in the recipe
  • Keep the Mystic Coins in the recipe

Great, now its still not accessable from the start, and you cant get other skins easily. You still have to decide what are you going for. You wont just get 50 or 100 skill point and 100 mystic coin from nowhere. (Maybe price should go up with the skill points to 100 with implementing a new scroll or item for these amount.)

  • Rework the gift

Like..its a sword which is all around fire. Ok…so.. Lets say that there is an npc somewhere around the volcano who is a blacksmith. You have to visit him at lvl80 (oh man, no way. Its actually a content improvement too!), and he will tell you a story about a sword which contains the power of the volcano. He is seeking for that sword for a long time, but he is just too old to get the ingredients.

First you have to lure out a certain mob in a certain area. The blacksmith will give you an item which will help you to lure that mob out. (That will help you to avoid the camping, and can summon him after you get the quest.)

After that, you will have to go to the Citadel Of Flame where you can summon a special boss there for the another item. (That way, it will be easy to find a group to do it, since its a plus chest for the other players, and a quest item for you.)

Back to the blacksmith, giving him the ingredients and…. Starting an event. The old guy will be happy , but you have to escort him to a special place. Because the sword requires an extreme heat to be forged.

That will keep these kind of skins unique, less boring to get, and actually a bit of end game. You could do the with many – many things in this game.

Why not? Its better then grinding I think. ^^ Even if you dont do that, you have to agree with me. The current “price” is just too kitten high and too boring.

When people see some awesome weapon/armor skin they should be able to reach that too. They will be still unique, cause this is still a great amount of time, and let the players decide their appearance.

Epic quest chains like that would certainly be a lot more fun and feel more rewarding than grinding hundreds of gold running the same events over and over again.

For some reason though there is a percentage of the community that feels running Plinx endlessly is their idea of a fun endgame and that if they do this for long enough they are more deserving of great rewards than you or I.

Somehow I even feel that Arenanet prefers grinding > questing :S

diablo3 players type.

its ok dont judge them

really to each his own.
so many players, all with different ideals..

the game cannot adjust for you, either you like it and you tag along for better or for worst, or you change.

have fun

one more comment;
dont underestimate the insane amount of time that some people ditch into mmo.
there is NOTHING save for grinding that can save them.

quests like you mention are cool, but some hardcore will rush through it and will have the item in a matter of minutes.

the only way to deal with the players playing as if GW2 is a full time job; is giving them grinds.

Grind is always bad…

no matter how hard, it will be completed almost instantly;

there are full time GW2 players. you simply cannot create meaningful content that isnt grinding for them.
unless you are “EvE” online, maybe.

since when is GW2 catering for die-hard players living the game 24/7???

I thought the whole idea was to play it at your own pace, not rush it, etc… and now suddenly those players rushing it become your standard to object against this change?

The idea is perfectly valid for the way GW2 is a casual paced game.
The fact that some would rush it is entirely besides the point.

In a topic claiming leveling is too fast, or the lack of endgame, you would surely say the game is meant to be enjoyed slowly, not rushed…

The events are already there and dont require anything (plinx). But to add quest changes and chains requires $$ to develop and lead time ect. Totally different investment from what I see. I simply dont know enough to say how expensive or cheap it would be to create x many new quests.

Personally I would love to see something that rewards me for an epic quest not just hitting paypal or forge. Give me a sense of satisfaction and keep me playing and spending money at the gem store. In the end Anet must weigh the costs – plinx vs expense of content -loss of players-loss of revenue=new goal.

I myself dont have an issue grinding at all but I know many people who hate it. I dont blame them one bit.

I think grinding is ok, as long as there are other ways for other goals as well.
I start to get bored if it ALL boils down to grinding.

If there is diversity, I can easily grind for weeks on end for something I want. While doing other things as well, non-grinding things, that reward something too…

It’s not a bad mechanic as such, I think. I just shouldn’t be the ONLY mechanic.

I have yet to grind for my legendary, I get karma from events I do while roaming the world, just hit the 500k mark on karma yesterday. Salvaged over 100 ectos from rares I got while roaming. Got over 200 badges of honor from playing WvW because I am having a blast while doing it. People that call it grinding want to get to their endgoal as fast and boringly as possibly it seems, I can imagine that’s not fun at all, so maybe try to alter the way you want to achieve your goal or try a different goal? I am perfectly content with taking some time to complete my legendary.
More on-topic: I would like to see other things besides legendaries to work on, in the long run, maybe some armor sets or something.

You know..the problem is not that it takes long to create a legendary or an exotic weapon or etc.

Look at the forums, or on reddit… The problem that this is grind! I wouldnt mind if it takes 2 – 3 month to get one if it can be done without doing the same thing over and over again. Yeah. I prefer questing and etc for these.

If you are fine with that , its ok…there are ppl out there who likes to grind and they have the time and nerve to do that.

That wont change the fact that this is not different from the grind from any korean/asian mmo.
