The game hasn’t premiered yet, so what are you talking about when you speak of TESO in past tense?

MMOs gets recieved through all their stages, from announcement, beta to release and so far we have got most of it including the early access. Meaning that the term should be in the past tense, as GW2 already was much better recieved by this point.

so if you let yourself get hyped by anything anyone says, it’s pretty much your own fault.

To all the people saying they will ‘immerse’ themselves in ESO, I hate to break it to you but that is the most un-immersive game I have ever played and the balance is bad also.

So, good luck with ESO because you will be back in a month. There are people that have maxed out level in ESO in 15 hours, so much for an ‘immersive’ game – there is not much to it.

it is really simple……..

new zones
new dungeons
new class
new type of weapons
raids
new pvp styles
dungeon fixes
wvw rewards

something new to do… that isnt mini games , carving pumpkins , and pinatas in the same maps something actually fun to do… what the game was suppose to be since the release…

New zones, like in other games so the players ignore the old ones? No thanks, unless the new zones feel “natural” and are similar to the old zones (except for maybe when they are first introduced during the LS). I’d rather have upgrades to old zones, even more so on the “neglected” ones, than adding new zones.
So, new zones? Yes. New zones the same way as all other mmorpgs do it? Hell no.

New dungeons? No. There are serious issues with the current dungeons that haven’t been addressed for 1.5 year, and you want to add some new dungeons? We already had a new dungeon path in the game (Aetherblade Path) and it wasn’t exactly received as awesome. Unless they fix the fundamental issues of Dungeons why should they add more? So everyone does them once for their achievements and then get back to CoF P1?

the idea of new zones i imagine.. is to have new mobs, items, dungeons etc… something NEW…. and aetherblade isnt what people mean with new dungeons.. that is just an story mode dungeon… i dont know about you but many of us are sick of doing the same dungeons .. for another year or more.. is just sick…

The aetherblade dungeon was NOT a story mode dungeon. It’s a level 80 explorable mode dungeon. And yes, it’s new. It’s better than most of the other dungeons, but people don’t run it because it takes longer.

New maps are coming. They’re not coming during a feature patch, because it’s for features. We already know there’s a new dragon and we know where he is…he’s in a map that’s not yet explored.

There are a least a couple of new jumping puzzles and a new dungeon since launch, not counting temporary dugneons, which you can ignore but I don’t. Why? Because you’d be complaining there’s nothing new anyway, even if they stayed in the game. You’re ignoring the new Aetherblade path even though it’s probably a better dungeon than 90% of the dungeons in game.

And now dungeons reward you with at least 1 gold for doing it, plus drops.

People dont’ like the Aetherblade path because they can’t skip mobs and they can’t farm it. People don’t want more dungeons. They want a change of scenary with different mobs they can skip, to get to different bosses they can exploit.

Yeah, the funny thing is, ESO is not even on sale in stores (only headstart right now), and he predicts what’s going on in the future.

I know, the hate for ESO is big on this forums, but people do underestimate the impact it can have on the online market.

As always people only see the copies sold that they are impressed by.
I am waiting for the official data of NCsoft for the first quarter of this year. We will see very well, in what state GW2 is by that point.

No people who havent played it yet overestimate it because it has TES name. TESO brings nothing new to the table in terms of gameplay or mechanics and what it does have, other games have already done better.

The reason why we’re talking about TESO is because someone brought it up saying that when TESO came out GW2 would die.

People are having this same conversation on every MMO currently. It has nothing to do with how good or bad a new MMO coming out is, its the population that likes new and shiny the “MMO Locusts”. They will also leave the new game just as quickly, the same people that pick up and love ESO will leave for Wildstar as soon as they hit max level in ESO. MMO players have this mentality that the grass is always greener when a new game launches. A quick glance at the MMO graveyard should convince people to be very wary of any new MMO that launches, no matter how much hype.

GW2 has already outlasted the initial drop in players that comes when the locusts move on and will continue going strong after ESO launches.

Give it six months and the same people saying how good ESO/Wildstar are now will be complaining about a lack of “endgame”, bad PvP, and whatever else they think the new game offered but really doesn’t. They will also move on to the next MMO (EQL). Just the way the world works.

I am just glad to see a few people actually aren’t blaming ANet for the faults; it is all NCSoft.

I know plenty of people that worked for them/working for ANet and I can say they do want to see the game do well, but, unfortunately, money is usually the top goal for most CEOs. Money, Money, Money…

Another thing I would like to point out about the “programming side” is each object probably has an ID and simply changing a “checkbox” would probably break more than you’d think. They would have to create a new object replicating the older one with a new ID and use that to “replace” the old ID in inventories (that means searching through everyone’s table of data – bank, inventory, etc…). So, yeah, it’s more complicated when you are dealing with deprecated objects vs crashing a game. :S

shrugs I guess I’m just an optimist. The new dye system? I want. The new skin system? I want – and never expected. The open traits? I’m cool with this. I’m not looking at it from ‘how long did I have to wait?’, or ’they’re dumbing it down’ or anything like that.

What I paid for was GW2 out of the box. Anything they add to it afterwards, I see as a bonus. I’ve played the hell out of GW2 – I got my money’s worth. Anything they put into the store that I’m interested in? I’ll purchase. I consider the money I put in as adding to my game, or as a ‘thank you’ for any additional content they put in.

I purchased GW2 because of what I saw on the beta. Anything beyond that is icing. The game in beta was enough to warrant my purchase, and I don’t feel like they’re obligated to give me anything else – but I’m grateful they do.
