Just crafted my first infused backpiece, was curious as to how people are slotting for
Agony Resistance (and other stats) in back, trinkets, and even ascended armor.

Some of these infusions are pretty expensive – especially the infusion that can be made to +16 yikes.

(i.e. 10 on the back/5 in rings?)

Obviously the fractal scale would play a role, but any rule of thumb?

EDIT: Did some searches prior to this post, couldn’t find the info I was looking for, but even a link to some source would be appreciated!

If its not (infused) then the slots you are referring to are for the +5 agony infusions you can buy from the fractal vendor once you enter the fractal portal. You must infuse the item to apply the crafted agony infusions.

Look at these 3 pages, and you will find all the answers you need.

Thank you! I looked over some of those.

Generally, what are people putting in the Infused back for +AR?
Is there an amount thats sort of the sweetspot (without going for +16 and spending an insane amount of gold)?

I did the math once I think it worked out that making a +10 AR, based on buying the +1’s at 10 silver and the cost of reagent, was cheaper than making 2 of the +5 with stats, based on the material cost to make them (T6 mats etc). It has been a while since I worked it out and mat prices change rather fast, so I am not positive on that.

For accessories, put versatile simple infusions (or other +5 AR granting thing) into the regular slots, and put a +8, another +8, and a +9 into the Agony Infusion slots (located on infused rings, and infused back item). This will give you 55 AR, enough to handle level 49, and since these can all be swapped on any character, it means any of your characters could handle up to level 49. It’s pretty much the sweet spot, as to be able to handle level 50 on any character without other ascended gear, you’d need to slot +13, another +13, and a +14. Very expensive—better to just get 3 pieces of ascended armor to be able to handle level 50.

remember that you have up to 16 AR opportunities: 6 in armor, 2 in weapon, 2 for each ring and back, 1 for each accessory, 1 for amulet. maybe more? I’m going off memory here. If you put +5’s into all of those, that’s 80 AR. the current most you’ll ever need is 70. sure, some of those are more expensive than others (the non-agony-infusion slots will require +5 stat / +5 AR infusions, which cost around 30g I believe?), but you don’t need to spend 400g for seven +10 AR infusions to max out.

You seem to be unaware that you can only put +X Agony Infusions into Agony Infusion slots, and Agony Infusion slots are only found on Infused Rings, and Infused Back Items. Which means you can’t use 7 +10 AR infusions; you can only use 3 of them, and three +10s makes less sense than two +8’s and a +9, given where AR breakpoints exist.

No, I think Mystic knows what’s up… you still have slots on all the armor and weapons for other kinds of +5 infusions, so if you get full ascended armor and trinkets and weapons, you don’t even need to bother with agony infusions. They’re quite useful though.

I didn’t even think about this as an option. I’d only do the “hardest” on my main that is full ascended, so I’d skip the 13s and 14. But having a set of three pieces to swap to any class would be fantastic for the lower levels. Now I ask, what would you suggest I get for stats on these three pieces? Straight zerk just for damage? Or do you think there’s a better stat combination for across all classes?

thanks
to elaborate:
+10 AR infusion goes into an “agony infusion slot”
+5 stat / +5 AR infusion goes into “offense or defense infusion slot”
+5 AR versatile simple infusion goes into “offense or defense infusion slot”
+5 stat / 1% dmg to/from WvW guards infusion goes into “offense or defense infusion slot”
+4 stat infusion goes into “offense or defense infusion slot”
utility infusion goes into “utility infusion slot”

Ascended armor each has 1 defense infusion slot = +5 AR simple infusion x 6 = 30 AR
Ascended weapon has 2 total offense infusion slot = +5 AR simple infusion x 2 = 10 AR
infused ascended ring has 2 total offense/defense infusion + 2 Agony infusion slots = +5 AR simple infusion x 2 + +5 AR infusion x 2 = 20 AR
infused ascended back has 1 offense/defense infusion + 1 Agony infusion slots = +5 AR simple infusion + +5 AR infusion = 10 AR
ascended amulet has 1 offense/defense infusion = +5 AR simple infusion = 5 AR
ascended accessory has 2 total offense/defense infusion = +5 AR simple infusion x 2 = 10 AR
so that’s 85 AR total. looks like I forgot that you have 2 accessories in the last post. 17 potential slots total. remember that anything above 70 AR is useless right now (until they open FotM >50).

the +10 AR infusions (and others on the TP) can only be applied to the “Agony Infusion Slot” that only “infused” items have. currently only rings and back can be “infused”. Using these would let you have more slots available for a few extra stats instead of AR.
GDT for naming two totally isolated things ‘infusion’.
