Agony Resistance is a nice way to time gate, goal working, skill based, gold sink idea, I like the way we need Agony Resistance in FOTM’s and would like a entire zone where we need it and the champions place agony on us.

I talked about it before and a Dev did comment on it in the Fotm CDI.

But 1st some pro’s/cons to the current system (I am be missions some please just add them in as you see/remember them)

PRO’s

  • Gives players a goal
  • Added mechanic to bosses for skill
  • Adds more to the game
  • A piece of gw1
  • Gives us hopes for future ideas
  • A experience check

Con’s

  • Hard to learn/confusing for new players (Always a long talk to teach someone)
  • Adding to Rings/Infused Feels “clunky”
  • Another thing to keep track/craft and spend gold.
  • Not Account

Proposal
Have the Ability to use the +1’s by double clicking (or just using) and add to your account, for a base AR for your whole account, keep the ability to use and add the +1’s together for Infused pieces.

An example: to gain your first +1 AR to your Account you will need to use up 10 +1’s, the 2nd one will need 14, +1’s, then 20 +1’s etc.. (I’m just giving out an example these are not actually numbers that would be used).

Pro’s

  • Able to take and learn new classes into fotm without worrying about AR, also gives them a reason to try new classes in fotm’s
  • Don’t have to worry about gearing and spend lots of time/gold into playing Alt characters (Over all Alt friendly)
  • Give’s us another goal to work towards, I love and find the Magic find system works great.
  • Gives another reason for the +1’s
  • Gives new players and veteran players more incentive to do more/all fotm’s

Con’s

  • My give players less reason’s to get ascended gear on alts
  • This might be a pro for Anet, +1’s prices will go up and be steady at a different price.

Personally I wouldn’t mind this system but I don’t agree with requiring AR for a new zone. One of the core parts of the game was that people wouldn’t be locked out of content because their gear isn’t good enough. Requiring AR to even play a zone would not be fair and would enrage a lot of people. At the moment fractals don’t even require AR to play because you can still do levels 1-9 without it.

I’m only here because sometimes I just like to watch things burn.

Anything else is vertical progression which is against the tenets of GW2.

Sounds unworkable.

In Guild Wars 1, agony was in an instanced map. Same for Guild Wars 2. Unless there are different skill levels related to different agony resistance levels then what is the point in having it? If the skill level is the same for the different agony levels, then it’s just a gear check. Nothing special.

If the skill level is different according to your agony resistance then how can the map give you, with +10 resistance, a different experience than the person next to you at +1? The boss would have to be given a way to check each person before it attacks, see their agony resistance and match it’s attack to that level.

Have you had to teach something like 400 ppl how it works? No its not fine from the “casual players” point of view and after so much teaching and talking I to dont like it.

First off, Don’t worry about your writing skills, it is all perfectly understandable;)

PRO’s

I’d never consider an experience check a good thing, it alienates new players from content as alot of the older players simply go bittervet on them when they join up.

The one issue I have with the ascended rings in particular is that they’re not salvagable, the system itself is usually explainable in just 2-3 sentences.
And I think it is a good thing that not all things are accountbound.

I hope your suggestion make it in tho, I’d get mighty rich on my +1 ARs

An alternative to grinding ascended armour is a pretty good idea. However, you’ve overlooked a couple of points

1. You can craft up the +1’s to become higher grade infusions such that you can get enough AR using just your trinkets to play up to 49.

2. Adding in ascended weaponry and enough AR on trinkets you can actually go in to FOTM without ascended armour at all.

3. Ascended trinkets are account bound so you already have account wide AR. The base AR from ascended trinkets is 30. The back piece and rings can take more with the agony infusions. So conceivably you can make enough AR through that alone.

I honestly forgot ascended is account, well the trinkets are able to be on all classes, armors are not. Thanks for the reminder.
