Just checking that I’ve got it right.
The Airship Pass (on offer for one day only, folks) can be used from pretty much anywhere but does not give you the facility to return to where you used it. So it’s one way only.

Correct?

Hmm really? Friend of mine has the airship pass and I have seen him bounce between the ship and the current map (we are in the same party). I guess he could be using a WP.

The ones that have the ability to return, moves you from PvE to outside PvE (WvW, PvP, instances). They return you to your previous PvE spot once you’ve gone outside PvE and you go back. If you move from PvE to another spot on the PvE map, it doesn’t have the ability to remember your previous PvE location and waypoint you back.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

You can also add the Guild Hall to this list. You can “Leave Hall” via the guild menu to return back to your previous location.

So if you have a repair anvil and the scribing station unlocked that’s easy repairs, banking and a basic merchant.

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

Thank folks. That is as I thought and means I’ll be saving those particular gems for something else instead. If only the ship was instanced like the home instance and the EotN.

Hmmm interesting, after todays patch leaving the PvP lobby from the PvP menu takes you to LA now and not where you were previously…..

I had 3 Alts parked at the Flax farm in Verdant Brink and took them to PvP yesterday, now they start in LA.

Thats been a problem for a month or two at least. I know I’ve had that problem quite a few times recently (still at work, so haven’t gotten todays patch yet). Thats why I just go to wvw borderlands if I need merch/bank/tp.

Yes, but if you speak to the airship captain while aboard, she will transport you to any city for free.

That being said, I don’t understand the need for Airship Passes: there’s everything you need in you home Borderland, except the Mystic Forge, it’s free, and you do return to your previous location when you leave the map.

Just make sure you don’t stay too long there not to mess with the outnumbered buff (one player won’t change anything, but if many do that…).

There actually is a mystic forge in the home keep of your BL. (:

The only thing the home borderland doesn’t have is a vendor for cooking.

It’s probably an oversight, though, one I doubt will ever be addressed.

Asura gate actually. In the Royal Terrace and Captain’s Airship, there is an Asura gate that you can use to go to Lion’s Arch and the Racial cities.

@OP
The Home Portal Stone in the gem shop sends you back to your original location if you click the door icon on the right of your screen to leave your home instance. That’s probably what you were thinking of.

Edit: The reason why the Captain’s Airship Pass and Royal Terrace Pass won’t send you back to your original location is because those areas aren’t separate instances and become your original location.

The Captain’s Airship is actually part of the Gendarran Fields map, and with today’s patch we can now jump off it and glide around the map. And the Royal Terrace is part of Divinity’s Reach. You can just walk out the gate and access the rest of the city.

There’s something charming about rangers.

Hardly the “ultimate convenience,” then is it?

REJOICE! Dwayna hath had her mercy on us; her battered and beaten, tired and taxed.
For we have held fast our ground and our loyalty to Tyria each and every day…
And it is time the Six show their blessings. Freedom for ALL doers of great and wondrous things!

The Royal Terrace and the Air Ship were meant to be compact versions of Lion’s Arch lite. You travel to LA to do your banking, crafting, TP, MF, etc., you don’t get a round trip ticket back.

We are heroes. This is what we do!

Just tried it with one character. Back in Verdant Brink – worked perfectly. Must be a bug.

Sometimes if you go through a combination of two WvW/PvP lobby/guildhall it will port you to LA as it has lost your position in the main world map.

Someone bought me the ‘Royal Pass’ as a Christmas box, tried it, been effectively stored ever since. They really need to make a return option on these so the pass notes your previous location and give you the option to port back if you use it again.
