It’s likely that this has been brought up before, but I feel it bears reiterating.

The panel in the upper right side of my screen is currently filled with event alerts; the raid notice, PvP Leagues, the ESL, and depending on where I am and who I’m playing, local alerts, the personal story, and the daily missions. I’m playing on a 1366×768 monitor and it’s frustrating to have between a third and a quarter of my screen eaten, especially by notices that I’m not interested in.

I appreciate that A.Net is trying to promote interest in this stuff but there must be some way to disable these things. Personal story I can get being permanent (even if it’s irritating) but the other stuff must surely have some way to banish the notification.

It’s a tremendous clutter. I shouldn’t feel like I need to get an adblocker while playing a game.

It would be nice to disable these alerts. Between the two PvP Leagues and the Wintersday alert, I couldn’t see how much health the Eastern Battery had during the Tequatl Fight…

I came here to make a topic about this very thing, before I spotted this one.

Three notifications is a pretty big chunk of screenspace with the font size and spacing used. It’s actually larger than a lot of dynamic event trackers. Add in the personal story (which I have no plans to complete on many characters) and daily trackers (also not really relevant when I’m not actively working on it), and something like 20% of the vertical space in that area is taken up by useless information. And that is with normal interface size at 1920×1080. It is even worse with a larger setting or lower resolution.

There is no point in telling me about Wintersday, constantly, for nearly a month. I don’t really care about pvp leagues, and even less for ESL, which is also currently plastered onto loading screens. There really needs to be an option to hide at least these special event notices. Seeing them once is enough. Let us hide/close (clickalbe ‘x’ perhaps?) them, of disabled them entirely via the options menu.

Anything that isn’t zone related should be able to dismiss for the gaming session.

If I recall, there have been threads asking for more control over the content in this portion of the screen. Tracking achievements was one way, but we’ve yet to gain the ability to dismiss messages. At best we can reduce them to one line or so, but honestly there’s no need to be told about Wintersday throughout the entire event, or to be still told about the PvP Leagues....

I have plenty of screen real estate, but I’d still like to be able to customize this area better. Even if I had to do it upon each login, it would still be better than having permanent messages I don’t need.
