I don’t really know if this is the appropriate subtopic but…tonight was awful. I ended up logging out of the game before I even finished my daily. I probably had about 20+ goldsellers PM me, I tried blocking/reporting them all as they came but it was such a flood of spam, it wasn’t quite worth trying to keep up with it.

So…is this issue becoming more common? I know I’ve certainly seen more of these messages flood my PMs and it gets rather annoying.

If other people are also finding a noticeable rise in gold seller bots, has there been any mention from ANet on cracking down on it? I really hope every night doesn’t turn into what this night ended up being because I probably won’t get on if I have to set myself to Invisible.

Yes, there is a Dev post about it in Account Issues mentioning the 1000s of accounts that have been banned recently.

Saying that, you aren’t allowed to post on the forums about Gold-selling.

Yes, I had twelve in ten minutes last night and they all had “names” like if they were hacked accounts, which also seems to have increased. Many players have been telling in map chat about their or some friend’s account being hacked and their gear lost.
Another novelty since the megaserver is these players in DR who are informing about events and adding a “sponsor message”. The text seems scripted and pops up every minute.

Do your part as a player, and right click on the name of the goldseller, report it.

Yeesh, I’ve noticed this too.

I thought a game that cost $60 to buy per ban would dissuade the gold sellers. Guess not.

I’ve been turning myself to offline mode as soon as I log in just to get them to shut up. Feels like I am playing Warhammer Online all over again.

The gold sellers use hacked accounts and stolen credit cards, it’s not costing them anything

Seen a couple spams but not that many, I’m sure the banhammer is swinging at anet…

I reply to their whispers by swearing at them before I block/report. It would be funny if they reported me for offensive language lol…

I notice the spam in Gendarran Fields map, but not really anywhere else. Maybe 1 or 2 times outside Gendarran… I can’t really remember. But I’ve had from 2 to 5 different names spam me at a time when I dally in the Vigil castle. Anet should post sentries or something.

Why not block them? There is that type of system in this game at a point they will run out of accounts. Every time i see one of these i block then report. If you don’t do this your chose of inaction becomes part of the problem.

This. They keep spamming you even if you’re in a match and some of the messages are 6-8 lines. My block list will be full very soon. This is going totally out of control.
