Money is easy here…
1 Do AB meta (salvage all, sell mats)
2 in-between do daily fracs (salvage all, sell ectos and encryption boxes etc)
3 repeat AB meta (salvage all, sell mats)
4 do more fracs till dailys done. (salvage all, sell ectos and encryption boxes etc)
5 do AB meta again (salvage all, sell mats)
6 in-between harvest rich nodes, sell all mats gained.
7 do AB meta again (salvage all, sell mats)
8 in-between craft ascended mats to sell.

if you do it right, in 6 hours(doesn’t have to be consecutive time) you can easily make 70-80 gold… after a month, you got enuff to buy any precursor/legendary (minus eternity of course) you want.

I am at 24k AP, have 5 legendaries, 11 characters in full ascneded now an I ran a few SW trains (maybe a week total time (that’s about 30-35 hours for me)) and I loot AB if I’m in the map, but multiloot is such a sad way of needing to play a game I tend to shun it.

I found I have most things in this game, and with 20 l80s even alts became boring at a point. As such I’ve started to just run around and do what I feel like.

I sometimes join raids, and I have enough experience after close to 10k hours ingame to just wing it… as such I have a few LI’s and ppl sometimes call me as a filler where I generally end up doing specific tasks Condi in VG, or secondary healer in some cases
I do training runs with my guild to learn our happy bunch of casuals a bit of high end gaming.
I sometimesrun a t2-t4 fractal often cause ppl need achievements,
I even started to play PvP just for giggles. I’m dolyak nowand did some ranked games with little succes, mostly cause I refuse to play OP guard at this time as I find ppl only abled to play the easiest proffesion less than capable,And I tell myself I should be better then just cheesing everything, consequently It’s only for giggles as the gamemode is clearly broken.
I notice myself returning to WvW again after HoT lost it’s glamour and the need to get further masteries and expeireince… I find balance here destroyed…as well…
I have 9 times map completion,and I have 10 or 12 gifts left.
I made a guild, captured the hall , leveled it, became scribe and decorated it and sometimes I invite friends or people interested to have a look around.
I do not care for money much anymore and it shows as each time I have a new thing I want to get, I spend the bit of gold I have instantly….

I bought a second account and I’m reliving my glory time… redoing everything from scratch…. running dungeons and fractalsin exotics with basic builds

It’s fun…. again.

Been there Done that, and still loving it

23 lvl 80’s, 9 times map, 4ele, 4ncr, 3war, 3grd, 3rgr, 2thf, 2msm, 1eng, 1 rev.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

GW2 is a game, which means ultimately the point is to have fun, not to make gold.

Well that’s a matter of debate. Why? Two reasons:

1) Some people enjoy making gold and lots of it
2) GW2 is very gold centric

Point 1 doesn’t go for me but when you say that gold isn’t a goal in itself I think you kid yourself. It shouldn’t be, but the more gold a person has to more it’s just about reaching a higher number and that becomes the goal.

The second point does apply for me. It’s one of the things I think is a shame in this game. Things like legendaries that can be sold for gold instantly devaluate the bragging rights because it’s not longer a sure sign of achievement but could simply be bought with gold, which can be bought with really money. That’s just one example but gold is much more important than it should be in my view.

This makes no sense to me. As was said earlier gold in GW2 is just a counter. In some games the in-game currency can be converted to real currency (I am looking at you Second Life) so finding the best way to acrue in-game money is understandable. With GW2 gold though all you can do is buy digital items. Yes, it helps you with fashion wars and such, but beyond that it is just bragging rights. Like getting a good score on a video game.

For a long time, I was too focused on making gold to get the legendary, ascended, or AR boosts. I realized that it was ruining the game for me, because I had to always be maximizing my effort somewhere. I’ve never even used any of the 70+ boosts I have in the bank because it never seems to be a good time.

So, I made some changes. I stopped worrying about farming or finding the best recipe to craft for gold.

I began to realize that a lot of the grouchiness in LA was from the people stuck where I was, questing to be ultimate.

Now I just do what I want to try. I still farm when I’m lazy. Bloodstone Fen is a nice new very busy zone. I map on alts. Do some fractals or dungeons with guild. Level in WvW for reward and points to use toward HP on alts. Help random people while mapping. One day I crafted an exotic wep for a stranger because they were so polite and I saw, based on AP, that they were new.

I still made my ascended gear for my main. Except for the weapons, I’m not sure it was really worth the cost. It’s only necessary for high level fractals that I hope to try someday.

Think of other players as friends you haven’t met instead of competitors.

+1, this is what playing mmorpg should be about.

+1 I second that! =D

It’s a generic counter. A one-size fits all counter that belies any achievement that can be had with it.

Maybe you don’t understand that to some people the counter becomes the goal because that’s all there’s left since they have so much currency and nothing they need to buy with it.

Maybe you don’t get that when something is supposed to be a crowning achievement that selling it for a generic currency cheapens the achievement because in the end getting the currency together is easier than the actual road traveled to make it. That’s why it’s no longer the achievement it was.

Value comes from investment. We assign value to something when we put effort into it or if it comes from someone we have put effort into like family and friends. But if you were to get a gift from them and you sold it, you demean the gift and it will never have that value to the buyer.

Someone who has to work hard to save for something will value what he/she buys more than when money comes easy. Works the same with in game currency that’s easy to get rather than putting in the actual work.

Sure, some people don’t mind this but to me that’s how it is and I find it a shame. That’s just my view on it.

It’s a game forum. The truth is not to be found here.
