it is so fun how u guys defend something so broke only cuz it gives you free money because EASY
I got almost 80 of my 160 slots for armor sets, trinkets, food, weapons, keys, salvagekits, ….
Stashing keys like the curencies would be just as much helpful as another bag slot.
I always carry 3 Armorsets, 3 sets of trinkets, ~20 Weapons, bufffood (~8-10) and some other items around. Doing dungeons or even normal open world events can result in a full bag. Sometimes you even carry some materials because your vault is full and so on…
In times where i cleaned my bag completely of any mats, exos and whatever doesn’t have to be there i have like 40 free inventory slots. Thats not that much.

Honestly that’s overkill. Especially the 20 weapons aspect. You won’t use all of those equips on a standard day of play, so keep most of them in the bank or on a storage mule until you do the content that requires them. Inventory management is a part of GW2
there is no single class that can use 20 weapon types so thats a waste of space. just keep 2 or 3 you use the most.
8 bags is plenty. figure out how to manage your inventory
There’s a huge amount of stuff like keys or portal scrolls, alternate armor sets, or dungeon potions that take up a lot of space. I think it’s safe to say, that relatively speaking, that the need for space has grown since release by a bit. We’ve had more bank tabs introduced since then; would you have rejected it based on people’s poor inventory management?
For those of us that play WvW, there’s also siege blueprints and traps. Reward tracks also dump a lot of boxes… that open other boxes.
All players also have to deal with the influx of minor/major sigils from salvaging.
Also factor it crap like sand and another trash. And undepositable currencies like petrified wood and bloodstone crystals.
More of a QoL improvement more than anything else. Plus it’s not that cost effective; you need to buy them for each character.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Wow, people really carry all that stuff? :O Meanwhile, I only carry the salvage-o-matics and Terrace pass (in shared slots) + one stack of food and Exalted Keys on my main. Nothing else. I guess I’m weird…
I could definitely get behind extra bag slots dedicated to soulbound armor/weap/trinkets for quicker build swap-outs.

No, you’re just not much of a hoarder as I am, lol.
I keep 1 extra armor/weapon/trinket set, and what I can’t fit into my maxed out shared slots: zepherite keys, tarnished keys, shovels, ogre whistles, elemental powders, experimental rifles, teleportation rifles, harpy feathers, ash legion spy kits, 3 kinds of food, karmic converter, ley-matter energy converter, quartz crystals, herta, potions of jackalope transformation, endless exalted tonic, and at least 5 stacks of salvage kits….
…you know, the bare minimum I need for my adventuring.

(just don’t ask what I keep in my shared slots, lol)

Pft that’s not hoarding…
Such amateurs…you actually have useful things in your bags…
there is no single class that can use 20 weapon types so thats a waste of space. just keep 2 or 3 you use the most.
It isn’t just one weapon per type. I carry all types of weapons for my profession and yes i use them all. Some of the same type have different stats/sigills. YOU might have no use for more than 2 or 3 weapons, others do.
i like how several people that are against it dont give a reason. the way i see it people get to spend more money to get bag slots so in turn anet gets more money to fund the game and their paychecks and no one suffers. win win win
I would like more bags because of the space problem I have in my inventory. I carry around 3 stat sets of armor/trinket/weapon/food/utility (not including the one I have on), the map chest keys, and other miscellaneous things. I currently use 112 of my 160 bag slots for the stuff.
Most of my problems could be solved with build-templates that store equipment in them, but until that day…

There’s a point of diminishing returns to players in increasing the amount of storage available to us (whether for gems or tokens or whatever).
- People who manage their inventory effectively can make do with whatever space they can get.
- People who fail to manage inventory will always run out of space, no matter how much there is.
Stuff accumulates, like ‘volunteers’ in a garden (some call them “weeds”); you have to prune, remove, and otherwise manage your inventory regularly or it becomes an unworkable mess.

Manage my own messes? Heck no. Let’s go with option 3: hire a skritt to handle it.
(all problems can be solved if you throw enough shinies at them)

We have a winner
- People who manage their inventory effectively can make do with whatever space they can get.
- People who fail to manage inventory will always run out of space, no matter how much there is.
This so much!!!
Those who still feel short with 160 slots are compulsive hoarders, so even if anet allows more space they will still feel short. There’s no need to bring more than 60-70 different items to cover all the daily needs in Gw2.
70 slots are enough for 2 full extra sets with foods, WvW blueprints, extra food, tonics, salvage kits, 2 extra sets of gathering tools, HoT map keys, boosters and more. Whoever needs more that that, it doesn’t really need it, he’s carrying it for the sake of having it. And there’s still 90 slots available which are plenty for farming.
i7 5775c @ 4.1GHz – 12GB RAM @ 2400MHz – RX 480 @ 1390/2140MHz
If they can manage the server storage space for more bag slots, they should add more bag slots. It is only positive for their revenue to do so, and hurts no one. The same is true of the shared inventory slots. It doesn’t matter what people put in their bags, only that they pay for more bags when available.
There’s a point of diminishing returns to players in increasing the amount of storage available to us (whether for gems or tokens or whatever).

It is precisely the diminishing returns that is an argument for it. It’s supposed to be a luxury item, and not meant to solve problems of poor management. Doing so would promote gem sales and not impact gameplay that much.
Also, I think it’s not fair to simply divide people into two groups. People play different game modes, and loot is dispensed differently depending on it thus needs are different.
I think I have really great inventory management skills. I’ve managed for 3 years with 100 slots or even less on most of my characters and 6 bank tabs (some of my toons still have 100). it’d be a rare event where I’d be forced to summon a merchant. It’s even easier now with quick salvage, and a permanent bank express and I could say that it’s maybe once a week I’m a bit worried my inventory will be full, but it never really does.
But I eventually got 160 slots on the characters I played the most, and have 12 bank tabs even though I didn’t “need” to. I simply wanted them because I think the extra few seconds I save are worth it to me. I think the QoL is wonderful.
If they increased the amount of bag slots, I could happily go by without buying them and still be fine, but if I happen to have surplus gold, I might just consider it.
This is a “want” not a “need”. Doesn’t mean it’s not a valid request. And even if we’re going the “need” route, I’ll still argue the needs have increased.

Of course I’ll buy more slots if they are available. I hoard, too, even though I’m efficient at managing the clutter. I wasn’t arguing about about whether there’s lots of stuff or whether people will spend to increase storage space.
My point is that more inventory space isn’t going to provide long-term help to the people who claim they need more space — they are still going to run into inventory issues.
Put another way: everyone would benefit by increasing storage, but the inventory managers are going to benefit more. Those who claim “need” will gain more from learning new techniques than they will from gaining 20 or 40 more slots.
I still don’t have 8 slots on all my chars but I can definetely understand the OP. I have 8 bank tabs and a personal guild vault and 8 bag slots on 2 (with 160 inv slots basically) of my characters but I still sometimes get cramped on space. I have an enormous amount of materials that I use for trading, lots of LS1 items, boosters, tonics etc. that you cannot store elsewhere, legendary gifts and random other loot that I am going to use when I can. The thing is.. you get so much junk in these meta events even if you do your best to manage your inventory it’s too much sometimes. My main has condi gear, pvt gear and berserker gear. He has at least 1 of each weapon (2 of dual wield weapons), buff food, dungeon potions, salvage kits, boosters, gathering tools and so on. It easily takes up 50-60 slots for me. I wouldn’t mind seeing an increase in inventory space.
I’m all for increased bag slots, it’s actually been one of my new goals recently .. get all my characters decked out in 160 slots. Because I’m starting to run out of space sometime soon.

different sigils?
different utility on weapons in different content?
I carry a lot more than the weapons I use at a single point in time. Probably not 20.. but easily fill a 20, sometimes 40 slots of invisible bag with spare gear.

I don’t think it’ll solve their problems either. So it’s best to just work under the framework from the gem store as a QoL or a luxury, instead of something that makes the game unplayable unless you have 200000 slots.

Cause the devs decided that 160 slots plus 14 shared on a character should be enough for anybody and a player needs to learn to manage it.

Good crap why!? A power set covers 90% of the games content, a condition set another 9.9% and then that last 0.1% is the content you actually need tanking and healing for. You don’t need more bag slots you need to stop being a hoarder.
But I would parrot what was said above and add to it, we need a keyring, and a build-swap menu. Though honestly the second might be redundant if ANet is insistent on dodge-or-die outside of raids and trinity within. What’s the point of a build system when only one build works consistently for nearly all content?

What if they want a set of toughness trinkets for raid tanking?
3-4 sets of gear, with weapon sets to match is not unreasonable.

Yes. And, because their original estimations about the amount of space needed for anyone were final, they introduced shared slots, then increased their number 2 times, and increased the number of bank tabs.
Which gets us the current number, that is definitely final. Just as the previous ones were.

Why on earth would you carry around several sets of gear for two different game modes, which you cannot play simultaneously and cannot play without switching maps in the first place? Swap the gear out from your bank, and buy more bank slots, like everyone else does. It takes one more map swap and saves you several bags worth of inventory space.

So if i’m waiting for ebg to get ready i should do nothing? And if it’s ready go to my bank first and switch stuff arround? No thanks.
I have all banktabs filled with different things including ascended gear boxes, some things like mauldrey, mats that don’t find any place in my vault and some other stuff.
btw there are no more banktabs i could buy and why do you argue against more inventory slots with “buy more bank slots”? Thats just stupid
2nd i won’t like to run to my bank in the mid of a raid or fractal run just because i need another weapon now. The group would be upset (i would be upset too if someone has to leave several times a run just to swap gear).
You don’t have the right to tell me what i have to do with my inventory. You might not need more space because you run the same gear for every enemy even if its suboptimal like hell. I switch gear every time i think it’s needed and that can also happen while doing LS or something like that. There you can’t just port to another map to get your stuff.

The funny thing is I’m playing devils advocate here since I’m having no trouble with 160 slots, or less. I just have not seen a single good reason not to raise it posted.
And I can think of 1 or 2 very good reasons not to add more bag slots ( neither of which has been mentioned at all).

In times where i cleaned my bag completely of any mats, exos and whatever doesn’t have to be there i have like 40 free inventory slots. Thats not that much. This isn’t Dark Souls or The Witcher. This is a problem of your own making because you don’t want to stop at a bank to swap gear.
What if bank tabs are full?
How is having more bank tabs any different?Cause the devs decided that 160 slots plus 14 shared on a character should be enough for anybody and a player needs to learn to manage it.
Yes, it’s arbitrary — any choice is ultimately meaningless relative to anyone’s idea of how much storage is ‘enough’.
But it’s always going to be some number, so the question is whether the amount should be arbitrarily increased, despite the fact that there are diminishing returns to the publishers and the players.
As I’ve argued, those who don’t have enough room with the existing options are far, far better off working on learning new techniques to manage their inventory. Adding 20 or 40 slots will only postpone them dealing with the identical issues, and only do so for a short time.

While I’m not disagreeing with you. I also don’t see anyone complaining about more slots being an option.
However there is another trail of thought:
Anet is handing out too much junk, like the books in bloodstone fen.
All the different keys. Crafting items with no slot ( tenebrous crystals spring to mind).

This is certainly true, and a key ring along with adding all crafting materials to the materials storage would help out immensely. But fundamentally it doesn’t change the fact that some people are just hoarders and giving them more slots will not solve their problems

Why does it need to solve anything?

To repeat what others have said, there can be many reasons people have full banks and lots of gear to carry around. First, if you are a trader or do some trading every now and then you will easily fill several bank tabs with purely materials or items already (especially if it are unstackable items). They often remain in the bank for a while so prices can rise back up (there are trends in the tp prices anyway). Then there’s the reason people carry multiple gear sets → different builds and playstyles. Not everyone plays the same way all the time. If you play in PvE, WvW and fractals you could perhaps have a set used in either wvw +pve or fractals + pve, but if you really want to go higher in fractals you’ll likely have an agony set that doesn’t match your WvW gear. Why not carry each weapon? For some the option is to throw away/salvage a weapon and to buy a new one when they want to use it vs always having it ready. Actually, I’m not going to bother with stating more reasons.
How would more bag slots negatively affect the game? It allows those who want or need more to bring in more gem usage = money for ArenaNet. Those who don’t need or want it can ignore it just like all the minis, outfits, finishers and whatnot that the gemstore provides. If each new map will have currencies such as those provided in the LS maps and the keys from HoT/SW/DT then I can only see this becoming more of an issue for some people.
I’m amazed at some of you folks.
Why would any player be against the opportunity to expand their bag storage?
Wait…. so you guys have problem with 8 bags? kitten?
I run around with 2 different(Dire/Zerk and soldier for zerg time) sets and 8 weapons(2 zerk pistols 2 for boss boss, 2 zerk daggers, condidagger+condipistol, zerk SB, cond SB, soldier SB and zerk sword)
+ food and nourishement(4 types of food)
You guys need to learn how to be organized, like for real.

Why would any player be against the opportunity to expand their bag storage?
I am not against expanding bag storage — I have stated (in this very thread) that I will buy up all possible slots.
My point is that it won’t help the people who need help managing inventory and therefore there’s a diminishing returns issue for ANet, in terms of effort vs benefit.
Looking at it from the extreme perspective, arbitrarily, there’s no reason they couldn’t add 10,000 slots for everyone. In practice, though, hardly anyone would buy up all those slots. And yet they’d still have to build in the capability so that as many who want to will be able to do so. Since it’s more work than adding, e.g. only 1,000 slots, the question is whether it’s worth that effort for the incrementally increased sales that they’ll see.
A similar calculus applies to adding additional bag slots or bank tabs or stacks of material storage: are the benefits to players for those slots worth the additional costs of building the capability?

ANet’s game, ANet’s arbitrary limits. Deal.
You can 100 inventory slots with the 5 default slots and you can push it to 160 with the additional three more. There’s your gear space right there. Sorry but you have to choose between loot space and spare gear space, you can’t have both.
Like I said, this isn’t Dark Souls or The Witcher. Inventory management is part of the genre.

Yes. And, because their original estimations about the amount of space needed for anyone were final, they introduced shared slots, then increased their number 2 times, and increased the number of bank tabs.
Which gets us the current number, that is definitely final. Just as the previous ones were.
Bag slot, 400 gems for up to 20 inventory slots.
Single shared inventory slot, 700 gems, 5 for the price of 4. The 13 slots cost 7490 gems, that’s over $90 in cash bought gems or over 2000 gold in gold bought gems.
Plus completely different purpose. You’re comparing Apples to Sirloin.
