Allow us to remove followers
Yes, please! I would like to be able to remove followers as well.
I would also like to be able to remove blocked people from the blocked list, without unblocking them.
Block unwanted followers if you think they stalk you. (This will remove them from the follower list). Your online status is hidden to people you block as well.
The issue is, that if you block them, they get in your block list, and you can still see them. I do not want to be reminded of creeps but, unfortunately, there are such players.
If you remove them, what’s to stop them adding you again? Blocking works much better.
Does anyone know if support can remove followers for us?
Support can’t, or won’t, remove followers. These are people who have friended you and support doesn’t get involved in something like that. I really doubt they even have the tools to go into someone else’s account and make changes to their friend’s list.
Just use the block function. You can add any notes to it you like with the Set Nickname function.
I don’t see what the problem is in regards to follower list. If they’re only on your followers list, you aren’t deeming them worthy of adding to friends list… so what’s the problem here? Why would you want to distinguish between NA vs EU if you aren’t friends with them?
Sorry, just not understanding what your personal problem with it is. To me it seems a little strange. Either way you could just send them a whisper and ask if you care to know…

I don’t know how long I haven’t checked my follower (or even friends) list.

My problem (Personal would mean just me, I’m sure others have the same problem, So not personal) is that My Followers list is clogged up with NA players who I don’t necessarily want to block but cannot play with them and don’t want to be friends either, So when new EU players add me and go in there things can get confusing. It’s not alot to ask for to add a simple “remove follower” option, It would take anet like 5 minutes to add and make alot of players happy. Its not as good as a full friend request system like wow or facebook but it would be much better than what we have now. I don’t get why some people argue (sometimes for the sake of arguing) when players ask for this and their argument is that it doesn’t annoy them personally so anet should never add it.
It will only take 5 minutes to add a function that would go into other people’s accounts and their friend’s list and modify it without their permission?
Do other games do this? Is this even remotely a good idea?
Instead of asking ANet to take the time to add this invasive feature, to modify the accounts of people who you don’t even play with, why don’t you take a few minutes to go through your list and add the nickname, NA to all of the NA ones.
If you don’t know which are NA, friend them. Go to the leaderboards https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/ and check which world they are on. That will tell you right there if they are NA or EU.
I never really look at my follower list, although I know it’s full of many people I don’t remember. Never had a stalker situation though. o.O I would just block them if they got annoying enough.
I’ve been playing since Pre and have had 2 very long breaks (6 months and then again 8 months). I had followers I have no idea who they were before I went on the long breaks, now I still have a large follower list and I think I only know 1 of them….it’s creepy.

Since when? Last I checked, block players can still contact you in many channels such as party and guild chat and see what map you are on. They don’t need to see your “online status” if they can just watch for changing map names.
And currently, that is useless, because it shows “Unknown” for offline players under the map name field so they can always tell that you are online anyway thanks to this bug introduced during recent updates.
I’m usually really sweet… but this an internet forum and you know how it has to be.

There is no such thing as Followers, but stalkers. I don’t like it :<
If you add someone to your friend list the other player should be able to accept the request or deny it,just like in all other games.
Followers as a feature just seems.. Useless overall IMO.
Like, really, what does it do?
TIL
I have over 151 followers…. Never looked at this list until now, people I’d like to speak with are on my friends list.
Is e-stalking really a thing on here? I think it should be like Guild Wars 1 where you cant tell where that person is at unless they have friend-ed you as well.
As for the block issue.. Why would you want to block people that are not bothering you just because they are on another server? Serious question, just curious to know. It seems like you are using this list in a way that wasn’t exactly intended.

You’re calling me selfish because I was having trouble understanding what the problem is LMAO?
Gee, that’s a new one.

I don’t know about party chat (haven’t had that problem yet), but I can tell you that if you block someone, you won’t see them talk on guild chat. I currently have one person on my block list who is also in one of the guilds I am in, and I never see any of his messages on guild chat (only the responses of other guild members).
I still dont understand what’s the problem.

I don’t under stand what people are talking about? Has GW2 got a built in twitter or something that I didn’t know about?

In your friendlist there is a follower tab, it shows you the people that added you to their friendslist.

The friends list has an extra tab for “followers”, as in people who have put your account onto their friends list, but you do not have them on your list. It’s the third tab (after friends and lfg, and before blocked accounts).
Some people like to use this tab as a kind of “aquaintance” tab and find it irritating if it’s filled with people they won’t/can’t play with (for whatever reason), but don’t want to block those people to get them off there (since blocking adds a whole different level of communication block).
Personally, if I were in the thread opener’s situation, I’d probably solve it by putting a note (a simple “na” behind the account name should be sufficient) on each of the accounts I don’t expect to play/interact with for whatever reason, to keep things oranised.

I never understand the reason for this “follower-list”. Maybe A-Net was half-way finishing the “friend-system” when the development of this stopped.
Some small changes would be missing:
- rename the “follower-list” to “unanswered friend requests”
- add “accept” and “deny” buttons to this list
- if “deny” is clicked the player is removed from this list
- if “accept” is clicked the player is removed from this list and added to the friend-list
Of course a popup, when someone gets a “friend-request”, would also be nice…
Greetings.
This is a bad idea especially when having to report a bot or some griefer for interfering with some gameplay element or if reporting someone for exploiting. You need to follow.
You see, I was followed because some trolls wanted to find me in game and harp about truthful things I’ve said about this game, without the ability to click on them or search and find them in the social panel and follow them I wouldn’t have been able to report them for the violation of bothering me in game instead of replying to me in the forums like normal people do when they disagree.
Of course a popup, when someone gets a “friend-request”, would also be nice…
I’m glad we don’t have one, nor the need to accept/decline friends requests. I see the current friends/follwer implementation more like a favourites list. I can add people to my list that I actively want to see if they’re around or not, without cluttering up their friends list. Of course, it works the other way around, too. There are several people that are somehow interested in my online status but that (for whatever reason) I’d rather not have cluttering my (already rather full) friend list.
And sometimes people turn up on my followers list that I didn’t even think would be interested in my whereabouts. This gives me the opportunity to add them to my list and find new friends that way (or not if they are more of an “aquaintance” than a potential friend).
why dont you just stop looking at your followers list, it is not your friends list. Why do you care who can see you online if you arent talking to them.
“If you are not on someone’s friend list, you will only see their user name and whether they are online or offline. "
this all the information they have on you if you do not friend them back.
If TWITTER itself can do this why can’t we?
http://www.webme.co.uk/blog/2012/06/removing-a-follower-in-twitter-without-blocking/
on twitter followers actually get real info on you, which is not the case in gw2.
also comparing essentially the market standard in social media, with gw2 when it comes to a social media app or use is off.
twitter is the space shuttle of social media gw2 friends list is a tricycle.
I mean if they have time sure, but this doesnt seem like something heavily needed. I think you are overly sensitive to people knowing you exist
I shouldn’t be have to be reminded of people I don’t like everytime I look at the followers list, I know I could simply not look at it, But then what’s the point of it in the first place.
That’s actually why that person ended up on my block list in my case …
Yeah my followers list is long and I dont know any of them.
Phys why are you so against us having control over our own destiny.
its not really your destiny you want to control, you just hate knowing people can see you exist.
part of living in the world is accepting even people you dont care about, can see you exist.
i mean sure if they give you what you want, i wouldnt mind, but it really serves virtually no purpose,
Your online status is hidden to people you block as well.
It’s not. They can still see you if they have you added/blocked as well. So they know when you are online.

Yeah I just can’t handle the thought of other people knowing if I exist or not. lol
Maybe come up with a better argument?
Maybe you could just answer one of his questions “Why dont you just stop looking at your followers list?”
