It’s a major expense. Their original contractor left and they would have to rebuild from scratch. I believe they really want to do it but it’s not in the budget (or it is, and they’re working on it, and they aren’t making it publikittenil they know they have a working system. They might need a way to migrate data from this system to a new one as well so that people don’t lose their post history).
I’d love a more robust system but I do like a number of things about this one. It’s very fast, it’s very readable, the posts stay in order posted rather than getting jumbled by how popular they are, it has a clean appearance so it’s easy to navigate.
Maybe they should get the garbage contractor to come back and fix what they managed to bork…. unless Anet specified that they wanted a search function that didn’t work, which given many of the decisions we’ve seen lately wouldn’t even surprise me.
