I haven’t done fractals in about 3 or 4 months time. I forgot why I stopped doing it. I knew that the reward was almost likely going to be kittenty, so I stopped doing lvl 30+ higher fractals completely (and later all fractals).

Not too long ago my guildies start doing some again and I keep seeing them ping ascended weapons and armors that they get. So I start thinking, ‘maybe I should get back into it.’

Yesterday I try to do 3 fractals, the first a level 38 and then after reset 2 level 49’s. First one went great no issues at all. After reset we do a 49 when we get to Molten fractal and it bugs at the last room. We say oh well, reset fractals and go again. We speed through and get Cliffside the third fractal. Someone with the hammer falls and it’s gone. We do everything we could to try to bring it back and kittening nothing at all.

Today, we try a level 49 again, and AGAIN cliffside is the third fractal. Same exact kittening bug. I hit the seal, it pushes me back for some reason into a whole, I fall which it immediately re-spawns me in the downed state and the hammer is gone

After that, I finally remembered why I avoid what USED to be my favorite part of the game. Unless someone can convince me otherwise, I will avoid any and all fractals, as will my guildies, until there is a guarantee this is fix. There is no way to be compensated in these 4 hours of wasted time and with these bugs since nearly the start of Fractals still here, how can ANET possibly make us trust them again in that aspect of the game.

It’s almost like you’re asking for timely fixes of critical, progress-blocking bugs, and a rewards scheme that’s both well designed and well implemented. Based on ANET’s track record with GW2, I think you’re (sadly) asking for too much from them. I can only hope this is wrong, and they’ll actually do something meaningful here…

Update: One of the guildies I was runnign with earlier wanted to try a lvl 38. Was completed because no cliffside or molten fractal. BUT no reward at the end, all I got was a gold a prestine relic and that’s it… sigh

The more regularly that you run fractals the more workarounds you find. Many players also copy tactics that bypass glitches without even realizing it. So, yes, fractal groups lose hammers but most get it back by falling to death together so the hammer resets. The person who is new to fractals or doesn’t know the latest tactics is always going to get more frustrated by the glitches.

Unfortunately, death reset no longer works in many instances. If someone falls with the hammer, it can be game over. See: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Cliffside-Fractal-Hammer-Bug-1/first

In any event, it’s still inexcusable that basic bugs like this still have yet to be fixed, just like the 38+ mesmer bugs that relate to basic things the class is supposed to be able to do not being fixed yet is simultaneously inexcusable… I’m sure the community could compile a list of all such similar bugs (in many cases, they already have).

As of the last patch, a group wipe doesn’t fix the hammer disappearance bug.

As far as workarounds, if you get right up on some of the seals (the Arm Seals) the shield that appears will knock you back. If you stand a bit further back, closer to max melee range, you won’t get knocked back. This is important, cause at 49, those chanters can destroy you if you get knocked back by the seal.
