Already I cant wait for the next new Soldier Class!!

My main is a Guardian,

so now I started leveling alts, and I always been mostly a fan of heavy armored melee classes.
So Warrior would make perfect sense here as the perfect alt for me right?
WELL WRONG.

The warrior is just such a class that simply isnt that exciting beyond learning weapon skills.
Once you unlock all your weapon skills, you basically just unlocked the equivalent of your elites/ 6 point skills on any other class.

the Utilities and elites just arent that fascinating to grind levels and skill points challenges out to unlock them. no motivation, since the weapon skills alone are more interesting.

most endgame warriors run Signet builds for this reason alone. Those slots are more useful as passives, than they are as actives. that just seem like a poor class design, and this deep into the release and post beta of GW2, I doubt that will ever change until an expansion which may add new skills to pick.

but until than, the Warrior simply has the most dull selection of utility/elite skills of any class in the game. Which they only can make up for with their weapon skills. smh.

sometimes I rather play a Mesmer or Necromancer or any other kitten class over Warrior, because its just no motivation in progressing beyond weapon skills.

Warriors just don’t feel like warriors in this game considering Guardians have the same Armors and can punish mobs with several skills

I hope they don’t make more classes. Why? Make new weapon types instead. A weapon type turns the class into something else. It gives horizontal progress instead of vertical progression as in other games. You want more choice, more to mix and match with.

Also I disagree with OP. I love my Warrior. He is fun and I love his utility skills. Kick is by far my favorite. So simple, yet so satisfying.

but new classes mean new mechanics for the class. Not something bound by old class mechanics. new weapon wont change that.

Warrior with 2hander axe is still a Warrior, not a Guardian, not Mesmer, not whatever. Only the first 5 skills change.

new class has a brand new feel and new mechanics that are different ans well FRESH.

I like that Warriors feel like an actual soldier class. Inspiring allies, demoralizing enemies, actual skills that pretty much anyone could pick up and learn.

GW2 Warriors feel like Warriors boiled down to the essence of what Warriors are: Some guy in armor with a weapon. They’re not fancy. They’re not flashy. But they’ll kick your rear all the same.

I want to see new weapons like a two handed axe, polearms, crossbow, or even straight up spears would all make fine additions.

In addition to adding new classes, new traits could be added as well. That would allow for more diversity within an individual class and potentially make warriors a more exciting Soldier for you. What would you suggest for another soldier class that isn’t covered by the existing ones. Personally, I would like to see more types of shields, such as tower shields or small bucklers for some varied shield skills. Rapiers, whips, spears (not underwater), flails, etc., could all add some interesting dynamics. Heck, just give us more weapons!

Warriors in this game are all about the weapons, as they have access to the most. Its all about really learning how to use each weapon combo and the appropriate utilities. This isn’t for everyone but was the perfect class for me.

For instance last night I basically kited a Champion level mob around an area he had taken over until help showed up about 5 minutes after I started. I did this all with a rifle only, occasionally using my Elite signet to pump up the damage.

warriors may be all about weapons, but at the end of the day they still can only use 2 weapons at a time in combat like every other class. so that argument gets null.

Wasn’t really making an argument for the class

To me its a matter of play style and what you like. I like having access to all the weapons, and while I can only have 2 equipped, I carry on me at all times; Mace, Shield, Bow, Rifle, Hammer, 2x Axe. Each has a use and I equip based on the scenario (generally I have rifle and 2x Axe equiped while just wandering around).

The point I was making is that we are a class all about what we do with a weapon in hand (very flavorful lore choice in my opinion).
