My idea for playstyle expansion is to allow classes to use weapons they can already equip in different ways.

Examples:

-A warrior being able to toggle using a 2h hammer as a throwing hammer (new) or melee weapon (current).

-Engineering being able to toggle using a rifle as a rope gun (new) or a shotgun (current).

-Thief able to toggle daggers as a mid-range throwing weapon (new) vs. a melee weapon (current).

-Mesmer to toggle using a greatsword as a beam cannon (current) or a midrange dancing sword (new).

-Ranger to toggle using axe as a melee condition weapon (new) vs. a thrown ricochet weapon (current)

These alternative styles can be introduced as a new mechanic for both core classes and future specializations.

This is an interesting idea, however I’d much prefer being able to learn new skills for your weapons and switch between the, much like with utility skills…
May I suggest you elaborate what skills you imagine these toggles should have though? I’m curious as to what your thought might actually be in further detail…

Yes, I’d love the system to become more like GW1 than its current state. Tying skills to a weapon and profession was a terrible idea to begin with, it limited playstyle in so many ways. They should have adopted the GW1 skill system from the start (including cross-professioning).

just one of the reasons why i loved gw1 so much was the option to put the skills you needed on your bar when in towns.
it felt like you were playing YOUR character .
dont get me wrong , i like gw2 , but there was so much that felt so special in gw1. skill captures and setting your build up, among other things.
and i would also like to learn new skills with the weapons we already have, but would not complain if we got new weapons either lol.
