Am I too late to join the game ?
I would highley suggest returning the game if you still can, the game is dying at an incredible rate, hacks and bots are blatantly being used, and the amount of bugs is just insane, this game is NOT a good buy in it’s current state.

Why can’t you be a little more optimistic honestly, the world isn’t such a bad place. Well, maybe I take that back, but still.
Read the above posts before typing nonsense, the game is very much alive.
If it were at all bad, I’d post it regardless of whether I’d get banned by forum mods or not. This is because I am just that honest of a guy. So why don’t you just give it a rest and give it some time.

Ignore the forums, you will enjoy the game a lot more that way.
Ignore the game & enjoy the forums!
The forums have more to do, you don’t have to grind posts, they don’t zerg you OR force you to play as a DPSer. The level of loot drop is the same though!
We’ve been awake since March 2007! Please help!
“GW2 the game with more rolls than roles!”
You’re actually just in time for the Wintersday celebration! The game is NOT dying, it’s actually getting a lot of consistent support from Arenanet. This forum is full of whiners and naysayers. It’s ridiculous really.
This forum is full of whiners and naysayers for a reason.
Game forums are normally pretty bad but the only one that I can think of that compares to this is Diablo 3.
But yes, if you would prefer to play a game where the company spends all their resources on holiday celebrations instead of the actual game then this game is awesome.
Each monthly 1 GB worth of content update IS part of the game, holiday or not. Many game forums have terrible communities full of whiners. They are pretty good games too. For example: Battlefield 3, Guild Wars 2, League of Legends, etc. But believe me, those are all wonderful games and will flourish for a long time to come (if the naysayers don’t dissuade others from playing).
These games may have terrible communities but their forums are not this bad.
Yes the seasonal week events or w/e are part of the game, but they do not create lasting appeal or improve the game’s overall quality.
They are designed to create once a year unique skins or items that people will pay with money for or bring players back to the game temporarily. I have no problems with this, but this game has some serious issues right now and I feel as though having a strong core game is far more important than seasonal fluff.
Go to the LoL general forums:
How many posts do you see why people think this game is bad, with valid reasoning behind them?
hi everyone,
I have just bought the game and still updating
But I saw some threads that saying the game is dying or getting boring, so I am just curious that am I too late to join the game ?
Silly… don’t come into a game forum and ask that. Those of us having fun are in game, not here. I have a few RL friends playing and my wife and I’m the only one that comes to the forums. It’s toxic in here. Play the game. Decide for yourself. Personally, I always see a lot of people. And while I just play solo or with my wife\RL friends, it’s still fun. Yes, bugs suck but whatever.
Comparing this game to Diablo 3, is like comparing Jesus to Satan, now please be quiet and be more objective. Man, I think I’m done reading these forums.

Listen, the only reason why communities prefer certain games, is because they’re all kittens and they have no sense or reasoning or rational thoughts.
Check this out, they stick to each other and will stand by a game regardless of whether’s it’s bad or not simply because they’re kittens. They will refuse to point out mistakes no matter what. LoL is a good game, and it has had time to smooth out its kinks, but it’s still nowhere near as innovative as GW2 currently is and will be. Also, LoL is a very very twitch-based game, and it’s kind of a little too fast-paced. But despite that it’s still balanced.
GW2 is a much better game than LoL in a very distinct aspect: namely, it’s not just trying to be different, the team behind this game actually has the talent to pull it off. Granted LoL has had more time to smooth out the kinks. Give it some time. It will build a massive community.
Know why? Because unlike other places, this community is actually a friendly one.
Do you have any idea, and have you stopped to consider just how innovative this game really is? This game is really pushing the envelope on a lot of aspects. It sort of reminds me of time I played Everquest a little. Everquest was simply astounding.
I believe with enough work they can balance things out and stabilize things.
Why don’t you stop screaming for one second, and give it some thought, do you realize how talented the devs are? Same thing goes for people just denying every aspect of Blizzard Entertainment’s true-skill matchmaking formula and just calling the overall package dumb, they call it simple stupid math when in reality it’s very unique.
Lol, now I know why people keep posting the word kitten.

No Sora. I would say you can never be to late for a Guild wars game, they go on strong until the next Guild wars is invented.
I am newish to GW2, and have started a new character in all of the zones. My server, at the time, was classed as “medium” capacity. But in all five zones I have found myself stumbling over people and very large groups of players everywhere.
So I wouldn’t listen to the doom-sayers, they have their hats on back to front.

The only reason people prefer certain games is because people have different preferences as to what they enjoy.
In what way do you feel as though GW2 is a better game than LoL? One is a competitive PvP game the other is a themepark PvE treadmill.
I will admit the community here is rather friendly.
Why do you feel as though GW2 will build a massive community? ArenaNet hasn’t exactly shown interest in improving the unique aspects of this game or even polishing their current content.

They also hadn’t shown any signs of just how good this game turned out to be while they were giving feedback during development stages back then. I was surprised how talented they turned out to be as well.
Don’t ever judge a book by its cover.
You’re just in time to join in on all the grindfest that is GW2. You won’t be making any money anytime soon… a terrible time to start in all honesty but I hope you enjoy yourself anyway.

I’m glad you enjoy this game bro, and the game isn’t bad at all.
But in order to have a massive community the game is going to have to exceed spectacularly in something, and as it stands this game is a jack of all trades that does nothing particularly well.
I can only add that as sad at it is GW1 ‘band’ didint come to play GW2 . We had really mature and solid community back then with no to little whinning around and that was one of the cores why it was fun.
Here on the other hand seems to be typical mmorpg community which whatever they will receive will kill in 10 hours and then qq about it not beeing enough or bad. When you will understand that 10hours of your fun takes them weeks or months to develop it you ….!
As dull as it sounds but get a life whinners. No game can satisfy your needs if you will live inside it. Its a game , its for fun not for spending 24/7 inside it. Then i feel like im bored of GW2 i go out , do something , and continue next day and its fun again.
Cheers,
Most whiners on the forums are the people who rushed to 80 and want more endgame so just remember to explore the world and enjoy your time. Being lvl 80 is not the main goal in this game but rather to see how many cool things you can find on the way.
basically this.
Enjoy the Journey, I say.
Well if it’s a jack of all trades, but does nothing particularly well, then it excels in everything :/ so I don’t get what you’re saying here.
What it excels in is trying to bring in horizontal progression and solve the treadmill problem, I think that’s a pretty big deal.
Your analysis is a bit skewed and off, and it’s not really on spot.
I’d suggest staying away from the forums because they are all talking about end game anyways.
Do not rush and don’t craft anything it’s not worth the time or money right now and it will only level you too fast.
spend time in open world and personal story.
and maybe just maybe they’ll have all these issues especially the treadmill and the herding us to the store for gold thing cleared up by the time you get to 80 and start looking at gear.
For $60 and the amount of content that GW2 offers, it is definitely worth it!
The funny thing is there are threads in WoW where people say the game is dying or lacking “creativity / drive” because of the cleverly disguised recycled content yet it has 10 million subscriptions.
Just remember that since the game was released over 3 and a half months ago that you won’t find a lot of people playing GW2 in the leveling areas (1-70), and that a lot of players have experienced most of the content GW2 offers so even then a lot will not be playing too much! :P
Just picked it up tonight. Love it. I know ill feel the burn out sooner or later. that’s natural. but I have a IRL GW community that will keep me going. But this game gets so many of the little things right. I cant go back to WOW or Rift.
Please take a look at this post Tigirius, it solves the treadmill problem:
You guys are turning this thread into mindless gibberish . The OP is merely asking if the game is dying or not,In any case..No the game is not dying at all and like someone else says if you want to enjoy the game,Stay the hell away form the forums since alot of people are extremely negative about certain subjects while still..continue to play anyways. Just play the game !
No No
Not too late at all. Just some changes -
Population as dropped off by 50% so be careful out in the open world there arent as many people out there anymore. Most events are soloable but stay away from champs.
Money is tight because Anet nerfed loot drops into the ground. The main exception is the frac dungeon at Lions Arch. That loot table is still fine.
Top gear is easy to get except the new gear treadmill ascend stuff and that is a massive massive grind and will continue to be released every few months.
TPVP is dead except a few hours a day but Spvp hot join isnt – you can still get some decent matches going there.
WvW – Ok still going but population taken a huge hit as nothing new has been introduced yet. Good rewards tho.
Find a nice guild and settle in and enjoy yourself. The monthly events are pretty good as well.

Every game is dying, the question is what rate is it dying at?
Highly debatable with Guildwars 2, hence all the threads.
Welcome to Tyria Sora. Ignore the forums. 80% of it is complainers. In-game you’ll find many people who obviously love playing GW2. It’s very different from GW1, but a blast nonetheless.

Your not too late i only started a couple of weeks ago, if you the sort that likes to rush everything then you will be out of content soon enough like all games but take your time explore and you will find this game is very good.
ignore the forums because just like all games forums there are moaners trying to devalue everything. Take the game for what it is not what YOU personaly want and you will enjoy it

I mean a gross oversimplification and generalization of the complaints… but the game is pretty solid between levels 1-80. There apparently seems to be some issues finding a NA server that isn’t full, so that might be your only real issue. I mean, you got a couple of weeks before you can’t get a refund, so might as well give the game a whirl, see what you think and either hold onto the game or get your money back.
hi everyone,
I have just bought the game and still updating
But I saw some threads that saying the game is dying or getting boring, so I am just curious that am I too late to join the game ?If you don’t mind lots of grind and a gear treadmill, then the game will be ok for you. However, the WvW/sPvP population took a HUGE dive.
Also, there isn’t really that many different effective/viable builds per class right now, and lvl-ing to 80 without lvl-ing crafting with gold is also time-consuming comapred to gw1 (lower lvl zones are now very empty, you’ll be soloing for the most part).
Again, objectively speaking, if you’re fine with grind and a gear treadmill, you won’t regret it. That, or if you can get your hands on a lvl80 account with end-game gear.
Sheesh, I play mostly during off peak times and much of what you said is not what I am seeing at all. Crafting has been really easy, I go for every node that I see on my mini map, and have plenty of materials to level up without ever feeling like I am grinding for materials. The lower level zones always have people in it, and the majority of the events I go to have at least 6 people for the event.

Or if you’re fine having fun leveling up rather than racing to some fantasy endgame which you think will be the pinnacle of MMO gameplay, which it never is in any game.

The person you quoted just raced to 80 because they thought that’s what matters in an MMO. The “grind” is all about lvl 80 content. The spending gold is all about skipping leveling content so he can be lvl 80 faster.
Hello,
As this thread has gone off-topic in many ways, it is now closed.
Please also remember to keep this forum healthy and constructive for everyone, by posting in a polite way, and on-topic, as off-topic posting is disrespectful towards the author.
Thank you.

Totally agree here.
I lol every time some fb throws up a remark about “It’s because you rushed to 80!!!1!!1one!!”, then posts 2 days later stating that “The game only begins at 80, thats why your bored!”.
