I know the game is based one a no grinding philosophy, and i just got the game recently and quite enjoyed it. but at lvl 80 when i try to enjoy the game by not grinding, exploring, doing fun stuff, etc, i feel that i don’t earn anything. I feel that im not one step closer to my exotic gear, my weapons, my crafting, and all sorts of stuff. So does that mean if i don’t grind i don’t get those? I know you might say well you can get that in time.. like in 30 days or more… but.. who’s gonna explore the game for 30 days with no sense of accomplishment, at the end of the day all i have without grinding is “well that was fun”..

Yeah there’s totally grinding, just it’s a bit more fun IMO.

Not like when I played RAN online and had to fight the same mobs in the same area for a week straight to gain a level.

To get a full set of dungeon gear minus the weapons you will need to run exp around 25-30 times. To me that is not a grind, but to some it may be. Now doing this for all 4 of my 80’s is starting to feel like a grind.

but i hate dungeons… cause im running them to get gear and with no gear i basically die very fast.. and than i don’t get to kill stuff to get any loot and when a few wipes happen my team quits.. whats worse is that theres no fix loot, like i ran a fotm today and got only a lousy 10s profit.. sigh.. and ive tried a little bit of grinding but was too tough and boring.. i like exploring though but sadly it gives little reward.. or if anyone can tell me a good solo grinding spot ill be grateful:D

MMO’s may not be your type of game then. You need to work for your items.
And as much as people like to complain about having to grind, MMOs and grind go together. It’s like aiming and FPS.

@Zach

Getting rares off the TP are pretty cheap, that way you can instantly get rares to outfit your toon,s o you can start working on dungeon exotics.

You say you like exploring, so just stick with the game. You don’t need 80 exotics to go exploring. Also, eventually you’ll get more rewards, like laurels so you can get 2 rare items for your class with 5 laurels.

A few full clears of Orr should get you a few g. At least you could get some decent rares then.

They never said it would have no grind, what they did say was, you would not need to grind for gear/gear with better stats. If you are unable to get yourself some exotic gear, then yes you are doing something wrong.

I know, you guys are missing my point lols, im not against the grinding.. in fact i love grinding from past mmo experiences, but just not grinding dungeons. I would love grinding mobs, grinding events, grinding exploration, grinding jumping puzzles.. anything but grinding events anything.. but it seems ive been given no choice but to grind dungeons or ill lose out.. and i do love wvw so i really want to get my gear…
All in all i feel that the rewards aren’t worth what you sowned.. sigh.. and im even settling for crafted gear the cheapest and easiet one but it also feeels so hard to get since not many creatures ive killed have any powerful blood in them..

oh and about clearing orr.. whenever im in orr there seems to be no one.. so what do players like me do? do we lose out financially to other players just because we play at a different time?.. they should have a solo option..

What profession do you play? That’s one question, because I solo Orr all the time on several of my professions. There’s also Frostgorge sound which you can solo. You don’t have to do dungeons to get drops.

Do the jumping puzzles in the hard areas, or show up for the dragon events, which will eventually get you enough money to get all rares. By eventually I mean like in a week or two.

Try guesting to a busier server. If you play at odd hours, try Sea of Sorrows, which is the unofficial Oceanic server. Orr might be busier on that server. You’re not locked into doing PVe on your server since guesting was introduced. Tarnished Coast is also busy most of the time.

Clearing the high level zones (completing) will get you rare and/or exotic stuff. It’s not very tough to do solo. The main problem is it’s often useless other than selling or salvaging. But, you do make good money doing it (by good i mean enough to get you a decent set off the TP). There’s also karma vendors that will sell you exotics for karma and of course the laurel vendor to get you top level gear (exotics). Quite a few options to get you to gear, especially if you do dailies and monthlies.

Plenty of people play this game casually. If you can’t do it, find another game. Doesn’t mean it can’t be done.

Casually for an MMO doesn’t mean you get everything today. In fact, most people when they get max gear leave games, because they think there’s nothing left for them to do.

You say you like exploring, well does this mean that you get each map to 100% complete? I can tell you I have had 2 exotic sets and 100 gold to buy my commander title and still have some odd 20 gold now and I have not grinded in this game once.

How did I get that much? I have 4 chars so far with 100% world explore. I have soloed pretty much all of that besides the odd sp here or there. Now for the last four maps you ALWAYS get 2 exotics which really helps with cash. Apart from that you ALWAYS get 40 of some resource for clearing a map and cash of course with the exp. All except my main has only masterwork gear so it is also possible to clear these maps in this gear – you don’t need exotics or even rares to clear maps.

Aside from clearing maps I have made cash from crafting (from all the resources I get from gathering as I clear maps as well as from the clear map reward). I dont research for the best items to make either for cash. I simply just unlock all recipes and at lvl 400 once you start making those exotics and even rares beforehand you start to make some nice cash again. I also farm keys for Black Lion Trading Salvage Kits, this can be good for cash and other items I get too are always a nice bonus. I wont go into farming keys here lol.

Anywho good luck and I hope you find a fun way to make cash yourself.
