Hello,

I have played the game for 1700 hours now. I just reached 550 gold. I have enjoyed playing the game and i know that’s the most important. But I see all my friend and, guildies around me getting their legendaries. There is one who has played the game for 1100 hours and has started making his 4th legendary.
I farm dungeons and harvest nodes. But i’m still sooo far away from my 1st legendary…

I’m totally lost.
What am i doing wrong? :/

You’re doing activities that don’t get you the most gold/hour.

some people are lucky with the drops, other than that.. there are different ways to make gold.
1. Skill points → gold (t5-t6 mats, cores to lodestones etc)
2. world bosses → good loot (exotic chance makes the gold count higher)
3. dungeons → steady income (exotic chance)
4. Flip → buy low, sell high on Trading post
5. Predict → buy stuff u think might increase in price
6. Gamble → RNG
7. Farm → Champion runs (Queen’s Gauntlet and Scarlet minions were a lot of cash)
8. Laurels → t6 mats (if u feel lucky, mayb dyes)
9. Forget that your’s trying to amass gold, rather play what u enjoy playing.. even if u dont get any gold, it’s gonna increase one way or another :-)

Magic find is only half the equation. The other half is kill rate per hour. You need to kill enough mobs to utilize MF well.

For example, lets say you wore MF while killing Sparks near Dwayna, versus wearing MF during event chains like shelt/pen (pre nerf). You would get way more loot doing shelt/pen and way more use out of MF due to the significantly higher kill rate per hour.

The current ways of making money that I know of now are:
-speed clearing easy dungeons for daily gold
-champ train in FGS/Orr (probably the best method)
-Gathering (especially if you have multiple alts)

As a very active gold farmer, I can tell you that the best SUSTAINED gold/hour is gathering….. where to gather however and how to do it efficiently is up to you to find out. Currently im at 12-14g/hour sustained. The best part is you dont waste time waiting for parties to form etc.

For a change of pace, put together a pro zerker dungeon group and do COE > SE p1, p3, TA f/f,u and AC p1, p2,p3

These dungeons in particular because of the speed with which u can clear them ~ 15 min a path, and you can use the badges to buy exotic weapons to salvage for inscriptions that sell for 5g+

I mainly do dungeons, so i believe i utilise it. Have done the scarlet train a lot to.

3 charrs. My main source of gold is gathering atm.

I’m in a pro zerker group. I know the 5-8 gold salvage for inscriptions way (50% chance btw)

A daylie Orichalcum and Ancient wood node run can make you 4g per day in 30 minutes, or save you a lot of money if you still need those materials.

I’m kind of in the same boat. I’ve been slowly gathering all the mats (while just playing how I like to), but it wasn’t until 2-3 weeks ago when the forge was kind to me, did I seriously start looking at to what I needed to finish my legendary.

As for flipping making money. I know that’s how my one friend has several thousand gold. She says she just does things on the tp while watching tv and can make lots of money. Personally, I don’t have the patience or drive to try to do that though. I mainly just do world bosses for ectos/money, and slowly working on my clovers (and hoping that gives me most of the t6 mats I still need), otherwise I’ll have to use my laurels/gold.

Edit: I’ve also forced myself to got to start going to Orr to get more nodes.

I have not used this site and I’m not sure if it’s still working or not, but just check the prices in game to verify it’s up to date.

Don’t worry about the wierd URL, it’s just amazon’s cloud service.

TP flipping ofc.
550g is enough capital to start flipping, keep in mind the more you have the more you can make.

Edit: Use GW2Spidy and google up the GW2 google docs spreadsheet to keep track of listing prices you put up (It also does the taxes for you) these 2 things alone let you rake in 1,000s of gold without even playing but once in awhile.

You are playing the game instead of working on it. Bad.
