How does gratitude fit into the picture when we’re all talking about something we purchased? It’s not free…
People complain because they still like the game.
Am i the only one that finds all these people that complain about the game ungrateful?
Ungrateful with what? The game is not free as much people make it looks like…
doesn’t mean you’re the best player in the group
it means the enemies considered you a low priority.”

I agree. Dis is gonna be goooood.
People complain because they still like the game.
No, the people who provide constructive criticism like the game and want it to succeed. I.E. ANet, this bit sucks / is a bit lacking, this is how I feel you could improve it.
The people who complain I.E OMG ANet, I don’t like this daily / monthly / new sparkly effect, change it / reward me for what I do anyway are complaining down to some sense of entitlement that because they bought the game, they can demand changes to be made to suit them.
I dub this ‘The Customer Is Always Right’ syndrome.
OT:
I don’t think ‘grateful’ is the right word. I’d say more ‘appreciate’.
While people may not be happy with the products, updates and such, they should ‘appreciate’ how much work has gone into it / that we’re getting free updates ect.
People can ‘appreciate’ these sort of things even if they don’t like it, but I wouldn’t say they’d feel ‘grateful’ for it.

This. Some people, when they see a problem, they do something about it. They raise the issue. Others call it complaining, and cheer when the problem has been fixed for them. Without realising it would never have been fixed in the first place if it hadn’t been for rhe people that raised their voice. They raise their voice because they care.

GW2 is not a free gift but something people pay for. If you are not happy with the product, please explain why you should be grateful for something you feel was a waste of your money or time?
As much as they like to say they care about us, a company cares about making money. And when they say they care about their community, it’s not the individual but the majority that counts. When you have a game the size of an MMO that’s unavoidable. So I am not grateful for them making money off me for a product that I find disappointing and doesn’t meet the expectations they set themselves. Marketing is meant to make people buy things but not doing what you say, then also loses you a lot of players.
I complain when I do, because I still have a little hope that they aren’t going to completely turn goold old Tyria from a great adventure in GW1 into a My little pony Wars in GW2. And no it’s not just the bow. This game has been turned into an impulse buy oriented, superficial sparkle fest. It lacks any maturity that did exist in the prequel and it got boring way too fast for me.
Constructive criticism is good. It’s a sign you want the game to improve, and that you are willing to take time to help out.
Useless whining is bad. If only it wasn’t bad business etiquette to tell customers to “kitten off!”.

No, you are not alone! I wonder the whole time how the people on these forums, bubbling over with ideas, suggestions and criticism, coped with the inability to communicate themselves when there were no fora around (you know, “before” the Internet)
It is also interesting to see how some posters here think they can really appeal to the developers for some ridiculous changes (more drops, new races, just to name a few ), when it’s obvious that the tone of conversation sometimes tends to go down the drain, which essentially renders this forum as a communication platform completely useless.
People are ungrateful for buying a different product to what was marketted to them? I don’t think so (i’m referring to the loot nerf of Nov 15th). There are way too many nerfs and not enough buffs to most pve content, but the devs are all pvp’ers anyway so why should they care? They even added a daily that most of the people on EU servers could not do- should i be grateful for that too?
Tired of people saying this game isn’t free. All the content post launch has been free. Anyone that has spent money did out of choice. Sure the game wouldn’t exist if no one bought gems but that doesn’t negate the fact that it’s a choice.
Now as for complaining. Like anything its healthy until complaints turn away from reasonable criticism. Though the majority of the complaints seem to stem from players with fragile egos.
I am tired of people like you.
If you bought a TV and it doesn’t have the functions it should, would you not complain?
Sure if someone gave it to you as a gift but the money people spend is often made by something called a job. People work for their money. When I bought GW2 how could I know what it was all about before playing it? I had to go by what they told us and it wasn’t exactly true. That’s a reality in a world driven by marketing but to then think you should put up and shut up is just ridiculous.
Anet will not change something unless enough people complain about it. That’s also a reality. They won’t invest in changes if people hardly ever complain. If you don’t get that it works that way, then be ignorant.
The reason why general forums are generally such a cesspool is because gaming companies haven’t learned how to do customer service yet. People come here to complain because it’s the only place they get a real reaction from someone. Fellow players in this case. CS doesn’t give anything more than scripted replies and sorry that you feel that way but we can’t help you with this.
But before playing the game you cannot know what you are buying. You find that out after, so the choice of buying a game is a matter of trust towards Anet that we hope or believe they made a game I would like. This is based on reviews, advertisements, other players opinions and history with the game company in question. Not on actual gameplay cause you can only play it after.
So then when it doesn’t live up to your expectations it is only logical that you complain about it. But don’t give me this crap that you can’t complain about things that you spent your hard earned money on only to find out it wasn’t what you were led to believe.
personaly i think this game was worth the money i paid for it.
so im satisfied 8-)
people are not satisfied , because they aproach games different then me.
i play to have a good time, others maybe play for rewards.
If you play for rewards, you might not be satisfied with what you get.
I am one of the ones doing some of the complaining. I bought GW2 after a friend played it for a bit and recommended it. I have been happy with the seasonal updates (except clock tower JP) and loved the Karka event as a whole.
What I complain about is loot. I levelled 2 characters to 80 and equipped them all the way up only using loot. I was half way through my 3rd character when Nov15 patch hit. Since then I have had to use TP to upgrade characters as I level them due to poor loot drops (some suggest its permanent DR). Now I understand that some people have all the luck and have never suffered the indignity that is DR/bad luck, but there are many of us who love the game, but absolutely feel that since Nov15 we are not being rewarded as well as others. As an example, I myself went up 2 entire fractal lvls and only made 80s. Today I was doing my dailies and after the 19th kill nothing dropped for quite some time, even after changing maps.
So yes I can understand why you think some of the complaints are, “ungrateful”, I too see the complaints about “this is in WoW/some other MMO, I want it in GW2” and chuckle to myself adding a little “this aint WoW” under my breath. But complaints about gameplay changes are more valid and deserve to be heard.

It’s true – I definitely got my 60 bucks worth.
Sadly, what kept me playing Guild Wars for years isn’t in this game. And I don’t think that telling ArenaNet that I think they’ve made some big mistakes with Guild Wars 2, and that, as a Guild Wars fan I feel let down and disappointed, and that I think they did a 180 on their manifesto is being ungrateful. I had hope that they’d wake up and turn Guild Wars 2 into the great game that it could have been. It’s because I cared (and the reason I cared was because Guild Wars was so epic).
So I’m continuing my quest for a game that’s as good as Guild Wars…
Perhaps ESO…

I think this is a fair point. People are different and have different expectations.
I think therefore people should have the right to complain when they want to or not to complain when they don’t want to.
It always gets funny when people complain about other people complaining…

You’re complaining about the people who are complaining about the people who are complaining.

may be we choose what to like and what to dislike?
or we need to say thanks for anything?
in this case: thanks a lot to make my game less and less enjoyable! thanks to make me go away and not waste my time here!
