So, I’m going to try and explain this well enough that it makes sense. So here it is:
Not an outfit, but an outfit template that lets you pick and choose armour skins from one weight class and save it as an outfit for use on other characters. Now, I’m not sure how in depth this would be, as it was just an idea, but it would (somewhat) allow players to say, wear a medium armoured look on a heavy class, as an example.

“But daemonis, that would be visually unfair in fights!”

Nonsense, outfits as they are already negate this point. I know armour was originally designed this way, but with the release of heavy looking, medium looking, and light looking outfits, it makes this a non-issue.

The dyes are the only thing that may be a real problem, as most pieces of armour don’t have four dye channels. So I was thinking, before a template is saves, dye each piece before it’s saved, and then after that you can’t dye it like you normally would in the outfit panel of the hero menu.

Whether or not the template would be editable would be up to the devs, whichever may be easier. But it would be nice if they were editable.

I was also thinking, if not editable, you can buy up to three slots so that you could make one of each weight class, I don’t know. It could be more.

But yes, this is the whole idea, as incomplete or complete as it may seem, I thought it would be something pretty neat that I’d definitely pay money for.

it’s a great idea actually, at least a way to use armor from other armor weights, giving us some more choices…

That’s what I was thinking, more choices in fashion without having to make more characters to have the designs. Especially where, in roleplay, medium and heavy armours do not look like casual clothes. Well, some may, but many do not.

if not the original idea you have maybe some system that lets you save your favorite looks for an armor class?

Not outfits but like when you go to the wardrobe tab and mix and match looks for your character with the skins you have unlocked.

For those players out there that love changing up their look every now and then this would be a big time saver and greatly appreciated. It’s not to say one would not be able to re-create a favorite outfit again, but with so many skins to pick from it can be hard to remember that exact helm, shoulder piece, legging, glove, etc. skin that you paired with others.

I change my character’s appearance a lot to match what I’m in the mood for so having something like that would be amazing.

(yes, I know, pen and paper and all but things like that can easily get lost with people who constantly misplace stuff)

The dye channels are going to be a problem. They’d have to arbitrarily assign a rank to each channel (which is probably more complicated than it sounds) and then assign all channels with the same rank to the same outfit channel.

For example, dye channels are top left, top right, bottom right, bottom left so, so:

  • All four-channel pieces would use the same TL, TR, BR, BL colors
  • All three-channel pieces would use TL, TR, BR
  • All two-channel pieces use TL, TR
  • All single-color pieces use TL

Mind you, that wouldn’t necessarily be more tragic than existing outfit channels (I find I cannot use more than two colors on most of them, because of how weird the channels are).

Everything else should work ok, since it’s just a matter of ‘remembering’ a combination of skin unlocks we already have.

I’d be willing to pay 500-1000 gems to get an outfit like this, especially if I could update the choice of skins by spending 6 transmutation charges. (I might even buy 2-3.)
