Those Polar Bear dudes, are freaken bad * and should be playable. Anyone else that agrees? It’d be so awesome to play as them. Those Tengu’s are awesome too.

Its interesting those bears are mentioned, with way some are labeled as somthing like “Visitor” and way they just look, i really wouldent be suprised if they were added in future.
I could be wrong but to me way they look just screams “future race!” xD

Dolyak as a humanoid character should be very interesting though! Just like the Kodans

Gamefaqs boards did a poll on the most hated game race.
Humans were ranking top place and Kodan had not a single vote last I checked it. XD

Kodan and Tengu seem to be the two races many people feel most likely to become playable in a future expansion. Both come with the possibility of adding a racial city hub too and a large enough population to justify loads of adventurers.

Quagan and Skritt, have the strange speech patterns, which makes them unlikely choices, as there probably would be fear that their speech would cause fatigue during the personal story. Add to that that skritt would have Skrittsburg as a capital which does not lend itself for the way the personal story is structured.
Of course new races could have home instances not in a racial capital city, but for future new players who join the game with direct access to the new races that could be confusing.
Quaggan seem problematic due to their amphibian nature.

Hylek seem an unlikely adition to playable races as they are organised in small independent tribes if I am not mistaken, which would make explaining the large numbers of adventurers difficult.

On top of that, I doubt any race that is represented as a possible ally in the personal story line will be added as a playable race.

Definatly tengu. They even have an area sectioned off for their own main city, it’s almost like they planned to included them in the future all along…

Even though it is a difficult task it is possible to add them into the story. :P It’d just take a little bit more effort to do so. ;D

It only feels right that the Tengu get a go. They were prominant in the first Guild Wars afterall. The Koda will probably be an inevitable addition later down the line.

Yeah Kodans would be fantastic. Picturing a huge polar bear warrior smashing heads in with one of those ice hammers…yep it needs to be done.

I would be very pleased if they added in those Ooze elementals as a playable race. There are already, many different colours to choose from and you would get to play as the blob, though on a smaller scale then the old horror movie.

The Bats as a race would also tickle my fancy. I would personally name my Bat the creative name of “Zubat” and form a guild called “bet you wish you had max repel”. We would hide in caves in WvWvW

However, I know my dreams of playing as the mini blob or as a Zubat probably won’t be realized in this game. So I would have to add to the many people that want the Tengu as a playable race. I must confess I have not yet seen a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game that allows you to play as a Birdman.

I want Quaggans! :D

My guess goes towards the Tengu for the next race. Would fit very well with the old lore and a possible Cantha addition.

I was thinking that aswell, imagining their Capital would be incredible.

Tengu are pretty much in-game confirmed already.

I’m pretty sure they wrote the Largos as a tester for a future race. It’s pretty clear the tengu will be the first new race for GW2, whether they be added in a content patch (unlikely) or it’s first expansion. I suspect the Largos are testing the water for how well players recieve underwater combat and thus a very water based expansion could be on the horizon. I can’t think of which dragon would be most relevant to the tengu, it would either be Primordus or the deep sea dragon, but I really like the chances of them becoming playable first. Personally I could see myself switching to tengu as my main, I’d love to explore that race more in depth.

As far as the kodan go, one obstacle for them as a playable race would be character customisation and diversity. So far all I’ve seen is the one anthropomorphic polar bear. There is very little diversity in that race.

I imagine Tengu is the next, although I imagine it won’t be too popular in comparison to the other races.

I’m surprised no one has yet said the dredge. Not having anywhere cordoned off as a starting capital city/starting area in the existing world wouldn’t be an issue, as they would be underground and then have exists that emerge into some of the various other dredge cities. Unless I just haven’t gotten far enough in the story to see why this is nonviable, I think it could be made to work lorewise.

A race-specific ultimate would summon a big burrowing machine.

On that note I do not play Charr because I felt they went a bit over the top with them:
Q: “What is widely accepted as evil in the MMO community?”

Result:

But that is just a personal opinion.

Don´t get the Charr and(judging from the player pop. graph) even the Asura hate.
But then I just came here through this game.

To me the Charr seem like a friendly nod to the Kilrathi, and the cat/lion race isn´t unheard of by far in Fantasy and SciFi.

Tengu would be my choice too. But as awesome as the Kodan are, they´re sadly too close to !##! Pandas. Maybe in the 2nd expansion?
