I think a lot of people do not truly comprehend what the change in design philosophy means and how it affects the game as a whole.

Look at it like this…. NASCAR has specific rules and regulations for how the cars are setup and what equipment can be run on them. Let’s say that I buy a car, hire a driver and start racing.

I know what I’m getting into, since I understood the rules and regs at the beginning. Everyone is on the same playing feild. Three months later, NASCAR says "we have found a special kind of metal that we are going to allow you to use in building engines. It will make the car faster. BUT, you must mine the metal yourself and manufacture the engines yourself.

Only the largest, wealthiest car owners can afford to mine and manufacture the engines. Thus their cars will be faster, and the smaller owners will be at a disadvantage. Some people might say “this is America, where everyone has the exact same opportunity”. But, unfortunately, it’s not like that in the real world.

Now all the “super car” owners get together and tell the “regular car” owners that you must have the new engines to race with them.
And thus, Pandora’s box is opened….and the playing field is no longer level. The regular car owners end up saying "if I can’t compete, and they won’t let me race with them….what’s the point? And they sell their cars and quit the racing business, or change over to Indy Cars, hoping it will be more fair and balanced. Thus, NASCAR suffers as a whole.

Oh no you didn’t.

All analogies about GW2 must be in food form. It’s the rule from the now closed thread that you are attempting to ressurect.

Good point. Edited since I didn’t want to look like I was resurrecting a closed thread. This discussion is about the analogy.

Sorry there was no food.

Fine. I like analogies.

Lets change it to Football.

You have a team in college. They play by certain rules. Then they get bought by a professional team and all those rules go right out the window.

They could always stay with college football and never join the professional team. Doesn’t make the pro’s stop existing. It’s still there.

Stop with the analogies. There’s always another one. Always. It’s the rule of analogies.

There’s no need for analogy when the actual situation describes it perfectly.
ANet said something, they did something else. Nothing complex about that which requires analogies.

Kind of like opinions, huh?

By the way, do pro football teams buy college teams, change the rules and still make them play other college teams? If not, apples/oranges.

OOH! Back to the Apples and Oranges. The penultimate in analogies!!!!!!!!

I’ve already said that everything about this situation is opinion. That’s just repeating things again.

Your point is that you want to repeat things? Great. /thread now. Nothing new here at all.

Though changing the papaya to nascar and the orange to rich people is just funny.

Hmmm…analogies, analogies…

Okay, sure. I’ll play:

Let’s say a candidate runs for office and campaigns on big promises, shares a powerful vision of a different future, gets elected by an enthusiastic voter base, and then three months following inauguration, goes back against one of his/her core promises.

Former supporters flip tables. Press secretary insists it’s for pragmatic/practical purposes. Loyalists start doling out the entitlement rhetoric. Days go by with no further dialogue and the situation becomes an impasse. Meanwhile the administration is bunkering down and hoping it’ll blow over, while a grumbling core of players air their discontent all over social media.

How close was I?
