Iv always found it odd that we don’t have Great Axes in this game, we have regular one handed axes but no huge 2 handed monster axes. Am i alone in wanting this?

No, you are not alone. Several others opened the very same thread many many times.

They’d be cool, certainly, but I think they lost out just on grounds of variety. They’re stuck in a spot between hammer (heavy two-handed weapon) and 1h axes (more visually flexible for medium/light classes, already using the axe style.)

What class do you think could use them? Warriors, obviously, but who else?

instead who will use it, you must first define how would you use it.

Using the warrior as example since he is the “master of arms”

Mace (defensive) – Defensive, very low attk spd, nice dmg, high cc
Sword (offensive) – mobility, high attk spd, medium dmg.
Axe (offensive) – Very high damage, good atk spd, no cc

2H
GS (offensive) – High damage and mobility, no CC
Hammer (defensive) – High CC, very low attk spd, nice damage.
Great Axe – ?

If you can fill the blanks with an idea (not skills, forget about skills and effects that comes way much later…), a concept for the great axe and why it is needed beside its coolness… then a dev may or may not start thinking about it.

Guardians, maybe give them to eles/necro to channel like mesmer has GS. Ranger could use it since the cant use hammers.

Buy the executioner costume, tadaaaa instant great axe.

I could see it on warrior, ranger, engineer (yeah, I went there), elementalist, and necro.

In TSW, Hammers and Great Axes share the same weapon skills. Just start skinning some Great Swords/2H Hammers into Great Axes. Animation would be the same mostly. Problem solved.
