So yeah. Everybody miss their mentor, and everybody loved them as characters (Specially Tybalt, for the most part.). And everybody hates how we get such a bland and boring character to take their place, in fact, our place too, as the protagonist (Trahearne. ugh.)

I’ve seen many people begging for Anet to somehow bring our mentors back and find a way to explain that somehow they survived Claw Island, or, got cleansed back and no longer are Risen after Zhaitan’s defeat and Orr’s purification. And well, though this COULD be done, I feel like it’d take away a bit of the credentials of the story, and feel a little cheap.

However, I too wish that we’d be able to have more missions, or at least ways of interacting with such characters. Tybalt still is my favorite character of the game, the most fun and well-written one IMO. Way better than any other, specially the main ones like people from the Destiny’s edge (That are almost all boring) and of course, Trahearne. Still, however, we only get to spend a small handful of a couple of missions with our mentors. I’m certain that a lot of people feel like it’d be nice to have more.

Cutting to the chase, My personal opinion on what could be done is:

Have them return as ghosts, letting us see that they’re happy in the afterlife, and kept their personality. Let them guide us through some kind of event, or have them as permanent NPC’s. Something like that, just to give their story some closure and confirmation of what really happened.
A gate closing in, and we never hearing about them again feels a little too sudden and leaves too much un-answered, plus, its a kittenty ending for characters that were so good.
Seems to me like it’d be a good way of keeping them dead, but still letting us get some answered questions on what happened, and let us at least feel happy that we still get to comunicate with them.

Awww, let them rest in peace. I’d not like to see them suffer, having to stay on this plane as ghosts

Or are you thinking more like Obi-Wan …. mhhhh.

“Whose Kitten is this?” – “It’s a Charr baby.”
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

Lmao at the Obi-Wan part.

Idk, I was just thinking of having them popping out to guide us in some sort of live Event at Orr, or something.
Maybe having them being a Task Npc ?
I just feel like:
1- The way they died, and the way there’s absolute no mentioning of them after they died leaves too many loosen ends. They’re chracters a lot of people liked, we’d like to know what happened after, where their bodies are, etc.
2- They’re too good of characters to get SO LITTLE participation. Anet could use them as fun NPC’s for other stuff. It just bothers me to see some npc’s that are SO BORING and bland taking enormous participation, while others that are fun and charismatic are pushed aside and given a small few missions.

They could at least have a grave with an inscription. But there might be the problem of someone tripping over it while they are still alive in his or her story.

Could be a good idea to add this into the LS instances at least – this would also suit the purpose of making the choice of order have more impact.

I’d prefer not to have Forgal return. I’d actually prefer to have something for my home instance, something like a picture or a story. Something physical to remember them by, to honour them.

I’m rambling…oh well. I miss the Warmaster :’( Rest in pepperonis.

So I question?
It has been a long time since I did this part of the Personal Story but I don’t ever recall that our Mentor was ever proven to be dead. Yes I can believe that they might be declared dead but I don’t recall seeing the body.

Also, as I recall, you can even resurrect them if you are at the other side of the door when the mission ends. So maybe our Mentor’s were only ‘Mostly Dead’.

Maybe, just maybe…
“It just so happens that your friend here is only MOSTLY dead. There’s a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive. With all dead, well, with all dead there’s usually only one thing you can do.
What’s that?
Go through his clothes and look for loose change.”

Case in point:
Having an important character ‘assumed’ to be dead is a plot complication used throughout literary history for bringing a surprise twist later in a storyline. And even if there is a dead body found, sometimes they still, get better.

All I am saying
Never Assume!
