Has anyone wondered why there’s no physical differences between male and female asura? Their body types are all the same. The only real differences is in the hair style and the rare Gem Store Outfit that isn’t unisex. For humans, there are clear differences. Take the swimsuit versions of Lord Faren and Kasmeer. Why can’t asura look like this? If humans, norn, and sylvari can enjoy revealing swimsuits, asura and even charr should enjoy it as well. There needs to be some balance in looks.

Not every species is as bizarrely sexually dimorphic as humanity is. The faces are different enough to tell apart males/females at a glance.

No there is no need to give asura boobs, you have 3 other races for that.

Asura are a race from the depths of Tyria (prolly had very little light source in their erly history) human like gender anatomy wouldnt make much sense :s

What, you want them to look exactly like humans but with slightly different heads? No thanks. If anything, there are too many human-like races already (i.e. Norn are basically big humans and sylvari are green humans with leaf hair). And please, for god’s sake, don’t tell me you want charr to have boobs too.

i dont want asuras with boobs however i do wish female asuras had some actual female armor and not just gemstore female exclusive, same goes for charr

We don’t know what these little guys are packing under that armor. But maybe sexual dimorphism just isn’t really a thing in their species. Some critters just have very subtle differences between genders. I mean, can you tell a female hamster from a male hamster without flipping the little guy/girl over?

Human females look so different from males largely due to what we deem to be attractive. Functionally, one doesn’t need big breasts to produce milk and only needs wide hips to give birth comfortably. Having a thin waist, feminine facial features, etc. is unnecessary.

Asura seem to think smart is sexy and that’s it, so big visual differences between sexes would be strange in their case.

There was lore set forth prior to launch as to why female charr and asura are the way they are. I’m sure someone can dig those interviews back up, but I don’t feel like spending that much time on it.

Personally, I’m very glad GW2 didn’t go the over sexualized female route. It doesn’t fit those races.

Just a note, I once had to research hamster gender (or guinea I forget). Either way, the difference was female rodents of cage bound descent had a Y shape to their part, whereas males do not. Furthermore if you absolutely don’t care, but find your cage bound rodent with red spots on their underside after a month or so, suprise you have a female.

As to the asura boob quardry, did you ever notice female asura seem to run faster than female norn? Can you imagine how much slower female asura would be carrying around 3 – 6 extra sacks of weight?

Soooo, you’re saying that if you turn cage bound female Asura over there’s a Y shape to their part, but cage bound male Asura don’t have this?

If it matters so much, then the female can be larger than the male… happens enough in nature.

Give the Azura female the height of a human, and be mesmerized by the bobblehead laboratory.

In regards to your title, they ARE anatomically correct. Apparently their anatomy is not what you would like. Human female breasts are actually an unusual trait in the animal kingdom.

I’d actually say humans fall roughly in the middle of the spectrum of sexual dimorphism. There are some animals which look so different that for a time they were thought to be different species, like some of the birds of paradise. (And mallards if you ask my husband.)

(And some are even stranger, like certain species of angler fish where the male is so small and specialised that he cannot actually feed himself, instead he fuses to a female, who is many times bigger, and lives the rest of his life attached to her.)

But the asura seem to be at the other end of the spectrum. As other people have said it’s probably a result of living underground for so long, and I’d say their culture probably plays a part too (or the two developed alongside each other). I don’t think we know much about it but I suspect asuran mate selection puts much more emphasis on courtship rituals than appearance.

I now have this wonderful mental image of an asura in a bar getting into a heated debate about hypothetical quantum mechanics and finding himself both infuriated with and attracted to this female who keeps shooting down all his theories. Then losing all concentration when she invites him back to her lab to see her research in person…

(P.S. Yes I know I just gave a long, mostly serious response to a troll thread. That amusing metal picture was worth it.)

There are several armor pieces that female asura can wear that show open skin where a boob should appear but there is none there. Brahm’s armor skin, the feathered light armor to name a few. It’s weird when the underwear is a one piece swimsuit style. Its like asura wanted to cover something up but forgot about it when it came time to get armor.

I do agree about a general lack of feminine armor for Asura though. The closest thing you get to a skirt is the wedding dress outfit.
