Has anyone gotten one from a Wintersday gift? The wiki says it drops, but the drop rate research shows 0 obtained in their (small) sample.

Is this as rare (or rarer) than the mini from halloween? If so I’m yet again disappointed with Anet’s decision on this.

Account bound + stupidly rare should never be a thing.

At least you can get one from pvp (I just want several of them though and don’t like pvp that much)…

I have 1… I have seen only 1, in comparison: I have had 2-4 of each of the crafting recipes, 3 of the ‘pick a tonics’, 5 toymaker tonics (random ones), and 4 of the dolyak tonics….
(About 6k-7k boxes)
Idk if that helps, I didn’t really do any scientific noting on opening my boxes.

I gave up after 5k gifts opened and went to PvP
100% chance of obtaining one from the wintersday pvp track
Took me 2 1/2 days of very very casual play to get it

Do keep in mind though, Unlike the ghostly wolf mini, you do have a 2nd route of obtaining the item….

I have opened at least 30+ stacks (lost count) in search on aquabreather. But I’m not even mad, because i’m getting some profit (maybe more if I save the rare stuff for future) and it’s insanely good and cheap way to get luck.

I’ve gotten one from gifts and it was not in the first 20k gifts I opened either.

Yeah, I got one from PvP…so good to know it does have a chance (albeit a very tiny one) to come out of the gifts too.

So silly to make something account bound so terribly rare.

Easiest way to get one is from the PVP wintersday track. No wonder why the pvp lobby is so full right now and no one is camping the Dolyak in DR anymore.

Got one in around the first 5 opened. Haven’t seen one since.

What is really disappointing is that even if you do get it the effect is not from the skin but from the item itself.

3,000 bags opened and no rebreather. Pretty much just going to fail at PvP at this point to get it.

Never even knew it was a possible drop from the gifts. And I’ve opened A LOT of gifts.

You have my sympathies, khani. I’m also in the process of grinding out 5 Ancient Mariner’s bags for my 5 mains. (Currently working on 3/5.)

I expected the drop rate from Gifts would be abyssmal, so I decided to go straight for the guaranteed route. Still, it is a lot of PvP matches, so much so that I’m spending almost 3 hours a day on it. Thankfully Wintersday lasts until Jan 13th, so we still have a good amount of time left to get it.

I do agree it would have been nice if they were tradable though. What happens to players who only have one main, and just so happen to get 2 or more from opening tons of Gifts? They’re now stuck with a useless, but extremely rare, item, similar to Gwynnfyrdd.

Yeah Zax…while it would be nice to have one of the exotic aquabreathers for everyone…I’m just going to put one on the character that I spend the most time on. And then just live with Masterwork or Rare for everyone else. It’s not even a unique skin so there’s no point in getting a light/med/heavy. I was hoping for a unique skin, but alas we were once again found wanting.

Got Ancient Mariner’s Oilcloth Bag after opening about 3,800 gift boxes out of 5,000.

May RNG bring you luck.

Nice. I haven’t even seen an endless potion yet. Maybe I should just break down and buy a ton of bags before the seasonal is over. I’d rather do that than PvP.

To those who want to do it efficiently with PvP but lack experience and/or desire for PvP:

Doing the PvP daily (2 wins + 6 potions) earns about 4000 points of reward track progress. This is 10% of the whole track, meaning it can be done this way in 10 days.

To get easy wins find some empty custom arena with a friend and trade wins and whatever else is needed. With 3 or more you can autobalance so everyone gets a win.

Content in this game will always seem
to be faceroll at the high levels, because it
needs to be accessible to the casuals and bads.
