I for one was really excited about town clothes. Games like Asheron’s Call and Allods both had great cosmetic clothing systems. Heck, i even played FreeRealms which is a children’s game and had a ton of fun getting thjngs for my character to wear. I was expecting to see hundreds of different outfits collectible from events, special drops, vendors etc. but as of yet there are only maybe 3 different pieces available. I was just curious if this is in the works or if BLTC is the only source of outfits and I should give up hope.

We’ll be gettin’ more town clothes as the game goes on, I can guarantee ya that – Anet is all too aware that we want em. In the mean time, there are some really nice Light and Medium armors out there that can look fantastic when mixed, matched, recolored or even worn as a set. Don’ give up yet.

We’ll probably get more but I think we should at least have access to the clothes of town NPCs right now. It doesn’t really make sense that my level 1 street rat girl wears a fancy pink dress, if characters don’t start with a fitting set of town clothes, we should at least be able to purchase more basic sets, even if they’re plain and basic town clothes.

People actually use town clothes? I never saw the point since you can’t wear them during combat.

Role players do, but there are not many in this game compared to most other “mmos”

…so only a few RP’ers use them, in a game which doesn’t even have an official RP server.

I have no idea why Anet put them in the game honestly.

People that do not want others to see their lvl 80 toons wearing crappy blue and masterwork armor also use them, so they do not feel bad about themselves, in other words exactly the type of people this game was designed to cater to.

Thanks for the info everyone! Personally I really like cosmetic clothing systems because it is another thing to collect and accomplish.

The game is still a new stage in its path, eventually we’ll probably see various new outfits we can accessorize with.

There maybe be one or two options added for free, but it’s fair to assume by far the great majority of town clothes added will be via the gem store.

Guess that removes you from “game designer” in any form.

Same to the rest of you. You don’t see the need, you aren’t what companies need.

Actually, there are two unofficial RP servers with quite a few rpers on both of them; Tarnished Coast for US and Piken Square for EU. I’ve run inta more roleplayers in under two months in this game than I have in a year on some other MMOs, so we’re out there and we’re active.
