People demanded the Super Adventure Box become a recurring event. Since it takes place every April Fool’s, it’s now our spring festival.

..and I’m 200% ok with that.

Like you said sab was in replacement for April fools it really isn’t an official spring festival. To have a a festival for each race would be nice I think. The norns does not have to be easter bit I thought it would be a fitting way to tie it into the norn culture.

it’s funny i wonder how they figured “People demanded” what basis did they count the number of people? If from these forums I’ve heard the same amount of people complain about many things: mystic coins, how bad HoT was on release, yet i see nothing done bout that. I suppose positive feed back about how wonderful you are is looked at more seriously then negative feed back about how f’ed up it is.
Someone mentioned on another forum (I bet this isn’t accurate) that prolly if u like the game you aren’t on the forums complaining about it. If that’s so then a smaller group of people would of been on the forums in the first place, to dump love on SAB. So i mean saying “People demanded”… what people?which people? how many people?
:D

Norns – some kind of drinking FESTIVAL-think oktoberfest. already have that mini pvp drinking game and the activity keg brawl. Could maybe spruce those up a bit during festival or added rewards? From a non-lore rp’er player like myself seems logical My main is norn – gotta get cha drink on!
Slyvari – relatively new to life, celebration of life maybe? (input lore here and stretch it a little)
Charr – something about flame legion(input lore here), (think Burning man celebration), summer/fall thing
This has been mentioned on another post.

I believe the feedback on HoT at release was addressed. It was what the April patch was mostly addressing.
Perhaps, the Devs listen to feedback, consider if it represents a majority if there is an opposing desire, and address it when possible. Some things the playerbase may want might have unwanted ramifications to the game, as the playerbase is not privy to all information.

Not to mention the SAB mega-thread that was on the front page of the forums forever full of people demanding its return.

Your skin will wrinkle and your youth will fade, but your soul is endless.
Just in case you didn’t know, Super Adventure Box is an Azura festival and it’s perfect for an April event.
You don’t have to replace any events actually in game, but making new ones is probably better.
Oh and, don’t touch the SAB, it’s my baby.
I’m all in favor of the game having more recurring festivals. I’d love to see something every other month, so that there are never any complete droughts of a “Living World”. However, it’s not free for ANet to design events and they add to the overall maintenance effort for the game (bugs that get introduced with added NPCs, different puzzles, changing mechanics).
So the question is: what’s more important to the community? More festivals? Or keep the focus on the Living World with only the occasional tweaks to existing festivals?
Incidentally, I’m in a funny position: I have zero interest in SAB; I simply don’t like playing 8-bit games, especially those that require an extreme level of muscle memory at each and every significant intersection. All the same, I recognize that the support for SAB is unlike anything we’ve seen on the forums; it attracts all sorts of people to the game, which is probably good for the rest of us, too.
Like you said sab was in replacement for April fools it really isn’t an official spring festival. To have a a festival for each race would be nice I think. The norns does not have to be easter bit I thought it would be a fitting way to tie it into the norn culture.
It’s an official recurring festival that takes place in Spring; it’s not a “substitute”. I understood that’s what was meant when the title said, “Anet can we have an Easter or spring festival” — we have that.
What you are asking for is that the game have additional festivals that relate to other in-game cultures, with maybe a tie-in to real-life cultures.

There are huge differences between the situations, not the least of which are that there were literally protest marches (in a digital fashion) in support of SAB and nothing close to that for Mystic Coins. SAB has a big impact on the dev team, but nearly zero impact on the economy generally; mystic coins are an inherent part of the daily login reward system and are tied to lots of shinies.

You can do the same research to see how many people, if you like.
But that’s entirely moot: ANet doesn’t deliver stuff simply because parts of the community demanded it; it’s important what we think, but it’s not sufficient that there’s a vocal minority. What made SAB different was that it generated a lot of discussion, mostly positive (although not all of it constructive, of course) — when ANet was deciding what new festival to make recurring, they chose SAB over say Queen’s Jubilee: all things being equal, they were able to fulfill the passionate request from SAB’s fans.
All your chocolate bunnies now belong to me /insert evil laugh…now with that settled, I will leave this link here…

I am always in favor of more festival themed events.

It is enough that we have an asiatic festival, with asiatic outfit promotion, asiatic mail carrier promotion, asiatic backpacks (an exotic golden kitten with 2 balls dangling), asiatic fireworks, asiatic events, asiatic harvesting tool; all celebrating an asiatic new year… in Europe and USA.
Happy new asiatic year!
I wanna Quaggan festivoooooo.

SAB is the easter/spring festival. not everything in real world gets a holiday festival ingame. it’s much more dependent on LORE and prolly GW1 then RL matters.

I imagine the Devs use metrics along with other feedback, to help determine their game decisions.
