…And I really fear that they are too short sighted to see it. SAB might have started out as some dumb April fools gag, but it as I’ve figured out, it has a following for a reason. Now here’s the sales pitch: After the festival is over, I doubt many will have collected all of the four weapon sets (blue, green, yellow, and not orange) from the two worlds, soooo, when this all ends, put a price on it…

Since there’s such a drought in content right now (pvp is a rage fest, wvw went cold, I haven’t done too many fractals after getting the last back, which leaves grinding AP really…bleh), don’t just put SAB away, but rather make it an account unlock that if we choose to, can pay gems for, just like the LS2 stuff if we missed it. I’d easily pay 1k gems for it, because 16 weapons for each color set, plus all the other cool stuff (mini moto/princess/blue back) is just too much to knock back in three weeks lol. Might get some people playing again that quit, and you might want to think about world 3/4. I don’t want to down play whatever is it you guys might have planned, but I doubt it’ll be to this degree that you currently have…Be smart…

They don’t want you to unlock all the weapons this time. The whole idea is that you’ll have something to look forward to the next time SAB rolls around. If they let people keep access to it, then come this time next year what will those people want to do?

People ask this every time it turns up, and every time they take it away again, i doubt this time will change anything..

Sorry to say.

If memory serves, people had an occupy SAB thing going on around this time last year sooo, your point might be unfounded since there was no SAB last year…can’t even say it’ll be recurring after this.

Eh..Might point above sorta stands. Last year is evidence that they might not do it every year…So why not do the smart thing and make some bank on it…They put a good amount of real work into a gag…And it caught on. lol Bunch of downers can’t bring this idea down, but Anet can…and like you said, probably will.

To that end, they better get that money now because how many people will be around next April? No on can say, but if they keep on with the usual stuff, people will stop playing their game, and by proxy, stop buying gems which after the initial cost, is their only income (and some stuff in the store but I don’t bother with shirts/books/plushies lol). People will support what they love, and drop cash on it in support…you just have to beliiiiieeeeve!

I’m not getting what is in it for us, for them to charge for content which is otherwise and has always been free.

I’m sure it would be a money spinner for them…however it would do serious damage to the relationship to its community. One that isn;t altogether healthy right now, before adding something like this on top.

They have already stated this is now an annual festival. I’d rather see it all year round, but I wouldn’t support paying for it when it is normally free.

yea thats right, we begged for SAB for 2+ years. They denied us for that time. HoT has split the playerbase so for Anet SAB is a band aid to subdue until LS3 starts to trickles in. And now we got players that are willing to pay to gain permanent access to SAB.

Good job Anet….you make me sooo proud.

Last year they couldnt do it because they had more important kitten to do than to rework the physics n crap inside SAB just to get it out last year.

Also, since it’s a FESTIVAL now, the odds are extremely high it’s going to come back next year.

What else would they temporarily release to soothe things over after a controversial decision to stop development on an anticipated feature?

They would need to make SAB 2.0 with Quaggans.

Like Dragon Bash was a festival and it comes back every year, except no it does not… the only guaranteed yearly festivals so far are Halloween and Wintersday. They have said it is now an yearly festival, yes… but seeing is believing at this point at least for me.

While I can’t say I am a huge fan of paying for access to SAB, I would do it without a second thought if it meant some guarantees about its future. I mean, if SAB being a free festival means it will no longer get any development time outside the bare minimum which seems likely, yes I would absolutely pay to enable them to finish SAB if that’s what it took.

Actually, that would make for a good addition to it next year. A way to pay a few baubles to get transformed inside of the SAB. They can’t allow tonics, too many of them wouldn’t work right for SAB stuff, but they could do this to allow a few that would or have been fixed to work.

As for it being a yearly festival, I would love to say that they’ve laid it out in black and white, and that I trust them to hold to that. But… yeah. That trust needs to be re-earned. I’m, at best, hopeful.

I’m not sure even paying for it is any guarantee of reliability.. given recent events. :/

I am still waiting on that yearly fractal release

Unfortunately you got a point there. Personally I am not a huge fan of legendaries, I already have the one I want of the gen 1 legendary weapons, and I might make Twilight some day. The new HoT ones never really interested me. The sweet irony of the situation is that the one legendary we are still to get actually might get me interested as a Thief.

If only that was the only instance though… the fractal back piece is still MIA, so are the leaderboards they promised.

I love that you can be so optimistic after what Josh himself has said… chances are slim that it will happen. I mean I like Halloween and Wintersday as much as the next guy, but they don’t suffer as much for being frozen in time (although I would love some more Halloween story, like in the good old days).

The skins are really nice, so are the decorations, don’t get me wrong there… but once we have found the color variant we like there is little reason to keep at it, unless you are a hardcore completionist. As for decorations, that is cool but it is sort of content that not everyone gets to enjoy, because they might not have a guild which they can be creative with (no permission to decorate).
