My question for anet is, for those who are of TC and are crying out for a RP tag and priority, why is arena net ignoring them? the developers have said nothing and realy, TC was one of the best rp communities the game has ever seen, we either want a server back or a RP tag but arena net still ignores the requests, now im not trying to rage. but can they atleast give us something on the issue?

Im not, realy im not the only one annoyed by this.

You are not the only one annoyed by this really, me and all of the members of the guild I am in are as well, for it’s become horrid to meet up and do our events, with people ending up each one in a different overflow half the time, despite we are all members of the same guild -.-

ANet isn’t really ignoring people. They’re just AFK, kittening around in China. Learn to enjoy it, because while they’re not fixing anything right now, at least they’re not making things worse either.

You are right on the dot with that one.

Except that one of his problems isn’t a problem at all. If you’re on a server nobody likes at the time then you’re going to be crunched by the others. Its just politics and nothing for Anet to deal with.

I’m fairly sure that ArenaNet ARE listening to everyone. There’s so much information and opinions on these forums, for them to comment on every single one, AND give us answers would be very unrealistic.

They can only give us answers on stuff that is definite i.e. content they’ve finished.

They can’t turn around and answer as soon as a question is ask and say “Yeah, we’ll do this” because they could start working on it, then it not end up working. And what will happen then? “But you promised us!…” people will be shouting!

ArenaNet are not politicians, they are game designers. They don’t want to break promises.

I’m on Piken Square myself, and the RP is affected here too. What makes us great gamers though, is the ability to adapt. Who knows, maybe they will do an RP tag for us. But they’re not going to announce before it’s been made, and I certainly think it’d be a bad idea for them to say “Hey, we’ll look into that idea” and it not happen too. That would break people’s hearts more.

I’ve been trying to write a general reply since the start and nothing has come out that hasn’t sounded rude and/or grossly unsympathetic. Yours is much better

What people don’t understand about programming is that you can’t just bash out some code, test it, then push it live in a project the size of a MMO.

In simple terms the problem we have now is there’s basically two builds: one is what we have now, the “live” build, and the other is what the devs are working on, the “WIP” build. The WIP build is built on top of the “live” build and already has months of work on it, like new features, prep for the next LS, etc, so they can’t just put in the changes we need now and push it live, otherwise we’ll be drowning in bugs and incomplete features; on the other hand they can’t just make big changes to the live build because then they’ll have to scrap the WIP build and remake all those months of work on the new live build, otherwise when they push the WIP build it’ll just undo all the fixes they made.

So either they schedule all of the fixes we need for after the next update or work on the update now and delay new updates for months; the former makes us unhappy, but keeps them in the good graces of their employers, the latter makes us happy and probably gets someone fired.

Given how little they’ve done to inspire any loyalty to the game, I think an increasing number of people are just fine with option 2.

I’m pretty sure they did that in part to use us as a beta test for the China megaserver. And it’s problems that affect China that will be addressed.

Destroying server communities? China doesn’t have any yet, and those it develops will be made with the MServer from the ground up. So, not an issue and therefore not getting fixed right now. Ditto for RP issues and gatherings for large events. They never had the old way, so for them none of this is something that’s broken.

Town clothes? Again, they never had them in China, so there’s nothing to fix. The Outfit system is all they’ve ever had.

IF (and that’s a big ‘if’) they can get the China launch going smoothly, then they’ll turn a bit more attention back to the other servers. And maybe they’ll address a few of our non-China issues. But only if it doesn’t cause any potential problems for China. Even forgetting the population/number of players issue, China updates have to go through a separate publishing company for review, translation, and publishing. If they do something and it takes a hotfix to repair it, it’s simple logic that they’d rather it be on the NA and EU servers than the China servers.

RP does stand for Role Play, yes. You can view the long thread on Megaservers and RP to see what the concerns are pertaining to RPers trying to stay together to continue their story arcs.

If players can manage to RP in a game that was never specifically designed for it, surely it can’t be too much of a stretch of the imagination to think that they can’t RP that they have their own servers and tags too…it is just make believe after all (and before all the ‘wailing and gnashing of teeth’ starts that I’m in some way besmirching the community, I used to RP so I know just how tightly you guys are wound).
The RP community has already successfully ‘commandeered’ two servers ‘unofficially’ – isn’t that good enough without demanding more?
If A-net were to kowtow to one niche group then they’d have to do the same for all others – which is probably the reason why no-one’s getting a response on the subject.

Can’t say everyone is ignored, however, this is the only post by the devs today, a post that I believe any pve’er that has been playing long enough could’ve answered. Today wasn’t a holiday, today wasn’t the weekend. Today was a work day. It’s pretty clear at this point China is all that matters even though it’s America and Europe that have supported this game since day one. With the lack of content and the silence that Anet has brought, I’ve been taking a break from this game and I refuse to buy anything in the gem store with real life money. Maybe if things get better, Anet starts to communicate again, and an expansion is released, then, and only then, will I give them any more money.

Lot’s of people are being ignored. Mesmers have been saying clones don’t get the town clothing etc and many classes have pointed out bugs and flaws and nothing has been said.
