Does anyone know arenanet’s stance on third party apps? I’m planning on making several apps, one of which is a chat macro program. I just want to be sure once and for all it won’t get me banned. Another one is a screen analyzer.

As long as your ui changes don’t give an unfair combat advantage and your chat macros don’t preform more than one button press at a time you should be ok

specifically, “one button per key press”, not “one button at a time”

although the devs had said that the “one button-one press” restriction doesn’t apply to instruments.

I don’t know why but the OP’s name in combination with is question I find to be mildly amusing.

In addition to what others have said above, you can’t make changes to the game code. So overlays are okay, provided they don’t provide an advantage. Of course, that’s such a broad range of possibility, it’s not particularly comforting.

My rule of thumb is that if you have to ask, it’s probably not worth the risk.
