When you open one of the selections, do you only get a choice from the exclusive dyes from that set or all dyes that could be in the set? For instance, is there somehow I can get celestial (or something close)?

You get to pick one of the exclusive dyes. You cannot get celestial. I think some of the glint dyes are sort of white-ish but not really.

Only the exclusive Dyes. You also can pick any of the dyes in the Zephyrite Swatch, but this still means no Celestial/Abyss…. And most of the rare black and white options are still locked out.

You can get Abyss, but not Celestial.

• Abyss can drop from the LA Rebuild and LA Survivor’s Kits. So you could choose it or one of the more expensive colors from one of the other kits.
• Celestial doesn’t drop from any of the kits accessible via the Celebratory kit. (Which is coincidentally why it’s now the most expensive color from the original set of dyes.)

The Celebratory kit offers choices from most of the limited edition dye kits (with the Shadow kit being the sole exception) or any of the Zephyrite swatches (currently limited to blues, greens, reds, and yellows — purples, oranges, browns, and “greys” don’t have a swatch).

Are you sure? I’m pretty sure only the exclusive dyes were pickable. The original dyes may drop from the sets but they weren’t pickable from the birthday gift.

I picked the LA Survivor kit on my first character to hit his birthday expecting to be able to pick Abyss. Alas, it offered only the exclusive dyes from the kit and not the others.

That’s not cool, I almost did the same thing last night, Abyss is the only one from that kit I’m interested

Busy with a legendary at that time! Every bit of money i was making went towards it. I dont play things i dont enjoy, so i lose out on making fast money, see SW(I got bored of it, and cant run it anymore, plus, i have everything out there.) Not only that, but you cant really just find dyes laying around anymore…stupid decision i think, but its done with now! ive also never had really over 200G, and ive only had that much, once, when i was buying the pre for the legendary focus.

The cheapest ive seen Celestial go for was 40G, back in Beta and the first year, i didnt want it(Wanted abyss, and i got that from a random dye.) so i never bothered checking on it, has it gone for cheaper?

It may be an old dye but its still ~50g, that’s still not pocket change for most of us.
I’m happy to have such awesome options in the dye pack, don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful and think it was an awesome gift, but the first dye off the lists on the wiki I decided I wanted to get has been excluded.
Not a huge deal, just a little disappointed is all.

Thats actually why i was looking so forward to my characters birthday, Now..now its just..meh…i dont like the dyes from the exclusive dye kits, and the ones i liked, i already have and use…but i want celestial….

Probably just put it in the bank for now and leave it, if i find a dye i want, then ill use it!

Its also about 100G at the moment.

Dulfy had a really useful overview with which dyes were available for from the birthday present and in which set they can be found.

Just saying: Right now abyss is ~50g and celestial ~95g. Only because trader buy it in hope that it will raise!

Until january this year both have been 50g and cheaper. Abyss was 40g in july. Think about it that these two color are the most expensive of all non BLC colors. In that matter they are still really cheap

My mistake. I could have sworn I also was given the choice for regular dyes. Thanks for the correction.
