Guild Wars 2

So my Mighty Asura Warrior (who is learning to LOVE his bow-FIREBALL BOMBS!) was at lvl 69 and puttering around Caledon for the exploration when someone posted something to the effect of “Need 2more for Arbor Twilight Storymode”. Me being me and not knowing much of anything at this point, I whisper the person, “What level do you need to be?”

Normally, I’m used to stony silence when I whisper a player a question (especially in my old game). No. This player promptly whispers back with the level appropriateness to which I reply, “I’ll go”.

No reply so I continue on my adventure. Shortly afterwards, comes the reply, “Sorry, group is filled” to which I reply, “Hakuna Matata!” and go on about my merry way.

Not too long after that, the whisper comes. “A spot just opened up, do you still want to go?”

Well heck yeah I wanted to go and said as much at which point, the group was entirely friendly, helpful and extremely kind to answer my questions and just let me be my little lvl 69 self in a group full of 80’s.

So I guess the point is this:

I’m aware that nothing is always perfect and perhaps, this experience was the outlier. But nevertheless, I’m glad I came over. I’m glad I now consider myself a Tyrian. Thank you, Anet for creating a game that makes a sincere effort to make even a newb like me feel like I’m welcome.

This was yet another great experience in Tyria and I cannot help but look forward to a great many more!

I’ve yet to have a negative experience with any of the random people I’ve tagged along with or had tag alone with me in the open world. Glad you had a great experience in a dungeon. Was it your first?

Not my first if you include my lvl 80 Mesmer’s fight against Zhaitan. But it WAS my first random group so it was not only nice to not only receive a reply (though the first was a nugatory) but to be re-whispered when a slot opened up…THAT was the real icing on the cake.

I’d give a thumbs up but can’t on a Question post. So consider it virtually done.

I’m glad you’re having so much fun and I hope you keep up the exuberant posts.

Yeah, groups for dungeon story mode is WAY more friendly than for explorable mode.

You’re welcome! And again, if anyone who is new or returning to GW2, while I admit I may be an outlier, I can’t tell you how awesome and welcoming this community has been as a whole compared to one other specific community.
