So, I just came to LA and saw this.
Arenanet, I dont know what are your intentions about this, but whatever you’re doing to gold sellers at the moment, is obviously not working.
Have fun with people buying gold from asians for lower money than from gem store.

200 dollars for level 80? Rofl. At least they’re not the “^_^”-spamming ones.

Within the last day or so the goldseller spam has gone absolutely mental. I’ve been reporting them, but nothing seems to happen. Extremely unpleasant and irritating as I don’t want to turn map chat off. Tons of spam messages as well.

The gold spam is completely out of control in general map chat! I personally submit reports at least a dozen times in the short time I played today. It is so bad in the cities that you cannot even have a conversation with another player anymore. Players are getting so angry they are telling the gold spammers off big time! This will only lead to players getting reprimanded instead of the bad gold seller, and it will end with players NOT wanting to login and play.

This issue is serious and I know Anets is trying hard to deal with these pests, but this is now a second job for players when they login. ( NO I am not exaggerating YB is horrendous right now).

What and when can we expect a resolution from Anet? Coin lock would diminish this issue big time, as would an authenticator. Maybe one of these are on it ways soon, yes?

I posted on another of these threads because I was so irritated after playing tonight and having nothing but constant goldspam filling up the chat window. I don’t turn off general chat because sometimes people ask questions and need help, or so on. I don’t think these accounts are getting banned even though multiple people must be reporting them. Extremely unpleasant and I wish that ANet would do something about them!

I apologize if this is a dup post. I did search and could not find anything. I totally agree Ravven. here is hoping for a swift and clean resolution for us and for Anets team!

It really does amuse me that they try to sell a power leveling service when the largest part of the entire game is the leveling process.

Before today gold sellers were just that annoyance you right click and report.
they were mostly on the overflow, not on the main server.
So tonight I log on thinking yeah weekend play, and they are everywhere!
you cannot read map chat anymore.
My server has a great community and you cannot see them because you have gold-sellers spamming map chat!
I have spent my entire play time this evening reporting gold sellers!
this is not acceptable to me- when I log on to relax and play a great game- I want to be able to do so.
I do not want to be spammed by bots using stolen accounts!
I love this game and I love the community but this needs to stop.

Where I play, they are a bit less frequent. But even one message like that does ruin the mood. Most of the time it silences everyone for a long time. Worried we get associated with the bot person? At least I am.

Trying to sell gold in a buy-to-play game where the gaming company itself essentially sells currency, it’s not a profitable opportunity.

Each time one of these accounts gets banned it’s a cost of about 60 bucks which would become unprofitable pretty fast for the gold selling companies. So more than likely the spam is coming from hacked accounts.

Once Anet gets the hacking under control, the spamming should go away.

I just want a solution, I want to play the game and talk with the people in the communty.
I want to be able to call for help, or answer a call.
I do not want to be swamped by this Kitteees!!
I just want to play really

It all depends on how much these gold sellers actually sell their gold for. Take D3 as an example, while Blizzard is not directly selling the gold to the players, it is getting a cut of the payment, AND it’s setting the price of the gold in the real money auction house, so basically it’s about the same as if Blizzard were selling the gold themselves since they manipulate the price to be how much they want the gold to be sold for.

Anyway, the point is that gold sellers are making a fortune selling gold in D3, just check out some of the sellers on eBay. They simply sell it for less than what Blizzard is allowing gold to be sold as and make hundreds of thousands of dollars if not millions of dollars.

I’m sure it’s quite profitable for them in GW2 else they would not be doing it.’

Personal belief here is that once Anet gets the hacking under control, things will be settled down and they will start to offer trial accounts that will serve thekitten rodent eating, poop smelling, dull witted, ankle biting, stained tighty whitie wearing, gold selling, game busting jerks quite well.

I’m here in the forums instead of playing the game, if that doesn’t tell Anet how TeeD off I am about the gold spamming situation, then nothing will. I put up with it for far too many years in subscription MMO’s that I played, put up with it far too long in D3, that I’m done putting up with it.

They need to fix it or move along. They should have had some mechanic in place in the game that allowed us to block chat messages and or in game mail based on keywords that the user enters so that it can be easily and quickly updated as necessary to stay ahead of these kitten. Anet had plenty of time to devote to giving us a tool but all they did was make us look like tools without a tool to block off the spammers.

Yeah you can report them, and or block them but they’ll simply be back on another account in a few moments after they’ve been exposed and banned.

Runic is being reactive to the gold spamming situation and they NEED to be Proactive.

Well, they’ve got my $60.00 but they certainly won’t get any gem shop or expansion money from me unless we get something in the game that will effectively allow us to block the spammers.

200$ to level 80 is like 2$ an hour for the seller rofl.
