Another way to spend Karma
As someone with over 4mil karma, I scoff at your 900k.
Things I’ve used my karma on:
-Obsidian shards for legendary crafts
-Outfitting a new level 80 in full exotic
-Buying the gloves from Bloodtide Coast to convert gold (not as great a conversion as you’d expect quite honestly, you can get ~100g or so per like 1.3m karma if I remember correctly)
-buying all of the karma vendor only skins
That’s it.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Why should i do this? I’d like to see things that really will be needed in the future, but not to blow off all of that Karma with big eyes.
For the cash.
Buy Linen-tier light gloves.
Throw them in the Mystic Forge.
Salvage the result.
Sell the Linen.
Why not cut out the middle steps, and just have an NPC sell bandit bags?
There are plenty of good items to get from karma.
Rare karma weapon skins, food mats for crafting, obsidian shards for Legendaries, sun beads for beaded weapons….
Here is one thing you can do with you karma to convert it to gold. This method is RNG but will always turn a profit and spends karma fast and gives you a gold/karma payoff as good as slower methods.
(1) With buy orders, buy the cheapest lvl 60-80 rare weapons or armors (will probably be lvl 60 leather armor). you should be able to get a bunch for 8ish silver
(2) Go to Timerline Falls and buy a ton of lvl 57 rare rings for 1100 karma each.
(3) Throw three rings and your lvl 60 rare into the forge
(4) Profit!
The point of this method is to get lvl 60+ exotics, which will happen 20% of the time.
Lvl 60 exotics can be thrown ino the forge with 3 lvl 80 exotics for a chance at a precursor, so you should be able to get 1.5 gold per exotic weapon. Many of the exotics have expensive runes like Superior Rune of Strength (12Gold) or Superior Sigil of Energy (9Gold)
But even if you dont get an exotic, but get a lvl 60 rare weapon, then if it has a desirable precursor (Greatsword, Dagger, staff, longbow, hammer…) you can sell that too and turn your 8 silver into 40 silver.
If you get a crappy lvl 60 rare, just forge again…. It’s just karma.
This methods generates desirable superior runes and sigils and materials for the precursor forging market, which is one of the bigges sources of demand in the game. This method is non risky guaranteed money.

An NPC already sells Orrian boxes. OP just doesn’t lie those.
Or do the collection that give you the Karma converter. and use that.

Because ANet never intended karma to be a gold-substitute. It was always meant to be an bound currency that people earned in order to pay for bound items (originally it was soul-bound).
Here are things you do with karma, if you don’t need them for legendaries or other skins. Numbers are silver “earned” per 1,000 karma.
- 2.4s to 20s — Outfit alts with exotics armor and trinkets. (Value is the amount “saved” versus spending coin.) Caveat: can’t salvage the runes.
- 11.43s — Basic salvaging kits. (Amount saved.) Caveat: doesn’t scale well.
- 8-10s — Convert to linen via the crab-grabbin’ glove method. Caveat: very tedious, especially without a Mystic Forge Conduit (and at 100-150g, that eats into your potential conversion rate).
- 10-30s — Crafting beaded weapons. Caveat: very tedious and subject to market whims. Also, if everyone does this, the profit will drop quickly. (Of course, I’ve seen this suggested 100s of times and yet the 10-30s figure hasn’t changed in 2 years that I’ve been tracking it.)
- 0-250s — Crafting unidentified dyes Caveat: even more vulnerable to market whims; profit can vary on the same dye from 30-200s within hours.
- 0-200s — Crafting foods that require karma-bought ingredients. Caveat: similarly vulnerable to the market and much more difficult to spot opportunities.
- 11.43s — Thirst slayer achievement (represents amount saved vs buying drinks with coin; total required = 700,000 karma). Caveat: tedious, poor mouse.
- 0-300s — Forging other karma gear (i.e. not crab-crabbin’). It is very hard to find which items to forge that will turn a profit: those who know, don’t tell; those who tell, don’t know. Further, even when you find a niche, you are largely selling to speculators or specialized collectors, limiting the total amount of karma you can convert.
- 1-4s — Orrian Jewelery Boxes. Unidentified Objects and Charged Lodestones are the primary value-drops, and there just aren’t enough to make this an efficient choice. However, this is by far the fastest method to convert.
tl;dr karma isn’t designed to be easily monetized. You’re stuck with laborious methods that generate little gold (less than for a basic sal kit) or quicker methods that generate even less.
I thought we were suppose to spend it on basil, bell, and ginger. :P
Or do the collection that give you the Karma converter. and use that.
Considering the cost of the items in that collection, it’s better to just abuse the Mystic Forge tricks instead. -_-#

Bank it till HOT. Anet knows we are all sitting on lots of karma, I expect it to be more valuable with the new content.

As someone that has the Karmic converter, this is true!
Think the best ive ever gotten from it was 3 shards (not obsi shards, like molten shards, etc).
How long does it take to buy karmagear for 30 million ,forge and salvage that ,and sell the linen ?
Got all the vendor skins ,and most legendaries i like.
And i dont think HoT is adding some sort of karmasink, all i want is some vendor who sells cool skins for more than 2000 karma a piece…

Technically the t3 cultural weapons are like 60,000 karma a piece and fairly cool (I particularly like peacemaker)

That’s where I’ve been spending my karma, buying every cultural weapon. Four pieces of T3 cost 252,000 karma at 63,000 karma each. Ten weapons times six T3 sets (humans have two) times 63k per piece is 3,780,000 karma. And then there is the Ebon Vanguard, which you can get at 9,800 karma each (another 98,000 karma). There are also the T1 and T2 sets, but those are usually available as drops.
So, if you want to drop some karma on weapon skins, a mere 3,878,000 karma will get you the sets.
ANet may give it to you.
