I know anyone who has been in the same general area killing for awhile has noticed that loot drops off a lot. I have recently gotten Magic Find gear and noticed a lot higher quality in loot and more often, but only for a short while. I have been farming to try to get good gear for myself but some events I stop getting drops 1/2 through. It is obvious to anyone who has been out trying to collect stuff for them selves that there is an anti farming policy in effect. I would not mind it so much if ANet would actually tell us what the policy is instead of everyone having to guess and wasting their time. I have spent a lot of time and money on this game so far and this is a huge issue for me. If ANet wants to keep my business they really need to inform us so that we do not waste our time, it might not be worth anything to them but it is to me.

As the chance to find rarer items goes up the chance to find less rare items goes down maybe? so the more magic find you have the higher quality items drop more frequently but lower quality might have less of a chance? i dunno just speculating

edit: sry didn’t really read your post mine doesn’t have much to do with it. so bump

I spent 2 sessions farming spiders outside LA for a good 15 minutes each time to get spider venom which was a huge bottleneck in my crafting at one point. I did notice after a while the drop rates on it would get less and less over time. I don’t think its a bad thing but it would be curious to know how it works so as to not waste time. Like how long would I need to wait before it gets reset and that kind of thing.

They aren’t going to explain how it works. Doing so would only provide a work around for bot makers.

Its a bad system that needs to be thought out.
