With great hype comes great disappointment………

Didn’t hear much hype from anet herself.

i assume the update will not be massive…

PS: how long more to the patch?

About 3-4 Hours I guess? What does it matter, if you don’t get your hopes up for a good patch with interesting stuff in it, or aren’t hyped for LS2 at all anyway, because you don’t want to get disappointed, then it also shouldn’t matter when the patch goes live.

Just keep on playing the game, patch will definitly come with time.

Anti-hype…. wtf what hype?! We got a tiny trailer, 2 snippets of conversation, a snippet of music, and two concept art. That’s hype? Oh sorry, we had the twitch stream that explained the journal. Still… not getting all this “amazing hype” people keep going on about.

As for the patch….probably 6 hours at least. It’s only 9am eastern, which is 6am pacific. Anet isn’t even awake yet. Sheesh.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

I don’t know what hype Anet has given… I mean they released a 30 second trailer that showed some cool things, but there has been no ramp up to excitement, in fact there has been utter silence from Anet about this patch.

I assume the OP means the hype on other threads where people for some reason are expecting an expansion worth of new additions instead of season 2 which indicates it will be just living story stuff like season 1 and not many new features (If any).

I don’t think expansion stuff is reasonable to expect since they consistently release new content rather than expansions with long periods of time between with not updates. I’d imagine it’s difficult to develop both at the same time with limited resources.

I mean they could be releasing stuff like that I just don’t expect it, there has been no indication that that would be the case as I’m pretty sure they would be hyping it up if so.

You should always expect high standarts from developers (even if the chance at getting them is very low). If customers never expect anything special, they will get none.

Ok, since what you say is totally out of touch with reality…

You say they release tiny bits of content every two weeks which makes up for an expanion worthy content. WRONG!

Tell me, what exactly within those 2 years of game’s existence, even slightly reminded you of “expansion worthy content”? You received one map ( a tiny one ), no new dungeons except for the temporary ones + 1 path of Aetherblades, no new weapons, hardly any new skills ( please, 2 years time and an addition of less than 10 new skills? ), not to mention no new race or class. Furthermore, the balances patches and fixes ruined more than they fixed. Plus, the 99.9 % of the “new content” you say was via gem shop.

Please, be more precise and tell me one would not expect the things that were lacking in the first 2 years of the game’s existence?

Demanding/expecting those things is hardly HYPE if within 2 years time, nothing of the sort was de facto introduced.

People, seriously…

Three 80-lvl Rangers. Why? ‘Cos they’re that cool.

All I’m expecting:

- 1 new map.
- 1 story instance lasting between 3 and 10 minutes and offering somewhere between “meh” and “neeto” as far as satisfaction.
- 1 new world boss eventually to fill in that slot on the schedule, but it will probably be an easy boss, not like triple wurm.
- 3 new sets of armor skins in the gem store
- maybe a new set of gathering tools in the gem store

- maybe (this is just wild and hopeful speculation) 1 or 2 new maps in addition to the 1st, added later on, like 1 new map every 4 months.

Anything else will be a pleasant surprise. I’m not even expecting we will see Mordremoth this season. I think it’s just going to be a lot of build-up, and we won’t get to fight him until season 3 or 4.

Just because a lot of it is temporary doesn’t mean it’s invalid. That is just your opinion and what your vision of what content is. Such as races and weapons and permanent content exclusively. And as much as I’d like to see those things. Guild Wars 2 has always been about the ever changing world. This means content that comes and goes. If that isn’t your thing then you are really in the wrong place.

Of course it would be nice to have more permanent content (Which I have no doubt there will be in the long run just not as quickly as ordinary MMO’s) but to say there has been no content because you’re discounting all the temporary content is a bit silly. If you include all the temporary content there has definitely been an expansion worth of content, bug fixes and overall improvement. There has been A LOT, Maybe not as much as WoW but that company is several times the size of Arenanet and so they have way more resources which people also seem to forget.

I just think you have a different vision of what you want content wise. Which is fine and I can definitely see where you are coming from. I just think in regards to GW2 you will have to be a lot more patient to see that kind of content or play something else while waiting for that content. Remember that they’re trying to do something different with the genre and so you might not like how they do things that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t. Lots of people do enjoy the game in this way.

I’d personally rather have these frequent updates that change things and have permanent content added more slowly than have months of nothing to do but grind because you feel required to play because of a subscription fee. At least with GW2 I can pop on and have fun every couple of weeks and then for the rest I actually have time to play other games without the pressure of a subscription which I think is great! I used to play 24/7 but reality is that guild wars 2 is not a 24/7 game.

If anet hypes it, players say its doomed to fail.

This is how I’ve felt honestly. A complete lack of hype on Anet’s side. They’ve given us about as much as they’ve given for a Living Story update in the past, which hints to this not being as big of an update as we think. I hope I’m wrong, I hope we get a lot of cool stuff, but chances are we’ll be disappointed if we expect it.
