Just wondering if anyone thought there was a chance devs could or would incorporate duel traiting (spec) into the game. I realize it isn’t expensive, just a pain when asked to go into a dungeon while doing something else and having to keep track of two specs.

Anyone have any thoughts on the subject?

I’m assuming that by dual speccing, you mean the ability to redo your trait lines on the go.

I would not be opposed to adding such a feature as long as:

  • It could only be done while out of combat
  • Cost the same as going to the retrainer
  • Had an internal cooldown (5-10 minutes or something like that)
Here’s what people thought of GW1 when it first came out: http://tinyurl.com/bntcvyc
“A release is 7 days or less away or has just happened within the last 7 days…
These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”

*Of course
*Cost could be two options: A small fee every time you use it or could purchase the ability with a one time cost of a couple gold.
*Don’t see the need for a cooldown for PvE purposes. I guess one could be proposed for PvP.

The biggest advantage would be the specs would be saved and you wouldn’t have to travel to the trainer and mess with your traits. One button on your Hero Screen and boom!

Would be in favour of this too. Something like the WoW Dualspeccing system, with two traitbuilds saved and changeable whenever outfight. It’s very annoying to have to respecc for WvW/PVE and not have one single button to do it.

Sure.
I see why it’s real world-ish having a trainer that “re-teachs” you, but it’s just anti fun really.
The game already went along way with the way point system, mobile quests and such, why not the ability to respec on the go? The button is already there. Just unable it world wide, not just pvp lobby.

Rift had something similar to this and it was universally loved by all.

I could see myself using this feature to have seperate trait setups for PvE and WvWvW.

I really don’t understand why they don’t have something like this already. In gw1 you could save an unlimited amount of builds and load them up any time out of combat with just a couple of quick clicks. The simple ability of saving of just 2 builds and being able to switch between them really ought to be an included feature.

I posted this over in the Suggestion forum also, hopefully it might get some attention.

I would not be adverse to this at all… but I think some restrictions would need to be placed on it.

1) The cost would need to remain the same or slightly higher for the convenience… and possibly be attached to a consumable with charges that you either have to buy from the gem store or craft… or buy with karma or laurels or something. 25 charges in an item that says “double click to consume 1 charge and 5 silver to switch to one of your secondary trait boards”

2) Only in open world, when out of combat. This means it cannot be used in instanced content such as dungeons…. or on the fly in wvw while running to your next objective.

3) It needs a cooldown… 5 or 10 minutes maybe.

Actually, I would favor the full system we had in late gw1, where you could store your full attribute distribution + skillbar and change them whenever you wanted (in outposts, which in gw2 would most likely mean just out of combat.) Seeing how they established this with gw1 already, I really wonder how they could think less convenience would be a step forward.
