Any Details for AB Auric Basin Nerf?
How will most likely be by making it so it remembers what chests you’ve opened, so it shows as open on any map you go to.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Why? Access to the treasury is the reward for completing the event. If you don’t participate, why should you be rewarded?
When? They’ve been talking about it for like a year. That’s all they’ll probably do until the next expansion (~ another year).
How? You should assume that if you don’t participate, you won’t get the rewards. Something like the particpation buff in the Silverwastes, or they may just put cooldown on the chests. If they wait until the next expansion, they’ll likely just nerf the contents and say it’s time to move on. They need to fix the core problem though – changing instances to farm the same thing over and over.
Reasonable: You can now only loot each AB chest once per cycle per account.
Expected overreaction from ANet: You can now only loot each AB chest once per day per account.

Or just remove the auto rare from the large chests. That’s what is crashing the ecto economy. Multi map farms would still exist but tone down the amount of ectos you can automatically get.

That sounds too reasonable as well.
We were told a nerf was coming.
Why?
When?
How ?
We weren’t told that a nerf was coming, just that it should be obvious that one would come. Some day.
They aren’t going to tell us when, what, how, where, or anything else in advance because people would speculate like crazy in anticipation, which could defeat some of the reasons for changing the mechanic in the first place.
We’ll just have to wait to see what they do and when.
I think the best way would be to tag your account to the map you were on. When you start or finish Tarir, your account is tied to that map with an ID. When you try to go to another treasure room, it won’t let you in because the ID’s don’t match. If you’re disconnected from your map, the ID will also anchor you to the map you were on so when you come back, you’re back on that particular map. When the treasure room closes, your ID is cleared.

Actually we were told it is getting a nerf.
Like they basically came out and said it was exploity and gonna be nerfed, which is as much confirmation a nerf is coming as any.
They (Mike) also said why, pretty much. Ecto market.

I was nitpicking the phrasing, as Mike O’Brien was vague about what it would be. I am sure lots of people will call it a nerf, no matter how it’s changed, but he called it a “fix”. Maybe that’s a distinction without a difference.
Anyhow, the main point is: they aren’t going to give us more details until it’s a done deal or nearly so.
