I’m curious cause one of the dev said that they are looking to improve it and i’m wondering what they will add to make it better cause it’s a real pain to find a group on a medium pp server.

good god please no, this game does not need a LFG system, a dungeon finder only further removes the social aspect of dungeon groups,

dungeons need to be made more difficult so they cant simply be pugged to force people to make friends with good players and join guilds etc,

Please stop asking for solutions to player laziness, next up you will want instant teleports to the dungeon once the group is formed…………

According to the most recent live interview, they are considering making some sort of improvements to the lfg system, but are not currently working on it

Calm down. You seem to confuse LFG tool in GW, with the Dungeon Finder tool in WoW. They are not the same.

Anet has already stated they do not plan to implement a Dungeon Finder tool. And that is a good thing. We don’t need a LFD tool. So don’t worry on that.

Anet has said they are looking to improve the already existing LFG tool. And after a huge discussion on this in another thread, I realized that is fine. If they implement a system like they had in GW1, it would be just dandy. No complaints.

But as of now, there is no new information on the progress. When they have it, they will let us know.

Why can’t they just have a list from all servers from your region showing who is up for a dungeon and which dungeon. Then you can still pm them to make a group but don’t have to go MAP TO MAP or sit in LA ALL DAY spamming LFG

Well they did kind of have a list like that in GW1. You would open the Party Search window and it would categorize everything (Trade, Missions, Quest, Guild, etc). If you typed say “LFG CM Story” in to any chat, it would automatically put you into the Party Search window so others can see your request.

And some examples of what the window looked like (plus a screenshot I just took of it just now ingame).

I agree with Kouken. If you implement a LFG system we lose a level of social interaction. I personally get a huge kick out of sitting in LA, spamming or waiting for someone to say LFM and then I send them a tell and get the shiver of excitement when they say “invite yourself.” Oh, I just feel so part of the team that way!

And yea, next thing people are going to want the ability to instantly teleport to dungeons with waypoints or something. Just lazy.

I think, at the very least, something like GW1’s system would be nice for PuGs, especially now that trade isn’t clogging it up. I think this time around, you would maybe need only three categories: Dungeons, DEs, and general/miscellaneous groups. Also, instead of being for one district, this could span across all servers. Once guesting is implemented, people could probably group up for DEs and other open world stuff across servers.

In any case, I hope it helps the PuG grouping process.

Lose social interaction? The one that many others says already doesn’t exist?

Can’t we see the double edge here?

In some ways “it could hinder social things”, however it also “can enhance social things” by grouping people up that can’t get a group going today.

No one knows for certain in a game called GW’s 2 how exactly it will help or hurt. I have always been in favor of one. Social is what you make of it, if you want it, you can seek it out, that in itself is part of being social. You can’t be an introvert and then complain about not enough social if you aren’t doing your part. Takes two to tango.

Ok clearly no1 in this thread has gotten suppressed for typing ‘lfg’ in chat 3 times in 5 minutes. That’s just rediculous. I’m sorry but this needs to be fixed.

for all of you not wanting a LFG tool, are you wanting to get rid of the Auction House too? prolly not, right. I mean do you want to go back to the days of EQ where you zoned into “Faymart” to buy or sell anything. I mean, by your logic AH’s are removing a huge social component of the game and making buying and selling things way too easy.

Give it up, i want the game to make some things easy for me, so i can spend my time doing things that are fun. I want to queue up and then go about my life in game doing the the things I want and then be notified if my group “criteria” has been met. And then I can decide to join or not at that time. Just because we have a little more robust LFG tool in GW2 won’t mean you can’t still go to LA and spam LFG in chat to your hearts content. Knock your socks off being social.

For me and my friends no LFG tool helped kill SWOTOR and TSW. I don’t want the same fate for GW2.

Pretty sure this game will get an LFG tool.

Sometime next year, when everybody has moved on and shouting LFG in LA will probably be quicker.

We don’t need a Dungeon Finder tool like WoW has. And Anet has already stated they are not going to implement one.

The only thing that they are working on, is improving the LFG tool we already have. If they make it like it was in GW1, then everything will be fine (see my post above for clarification).

A Dungeon Finder tool like WoW has is a terrible idea. It would not function at all like it does in WoW. People seem to forget one thing. Instantaneous queues. With no roles, there is no wait time for it.

In WoW, you were able to wander around and quest while waiting in queue. You know why? You were waiting for roles to be filled. 3 DPS waiting on a Healer or Tank to fill the slot. Could take anywhere from up to 10 minutes to an hour or more. So you had time to wander about and take care of things while you waited. It also ruined realm communities. No one formed groups anymore (outside of guilds) or went out in the world anymore. They sat in SW/Org and queued for dungeons.

In GW2, there is no roles. Meaning, queues would be instantaneous. There is no wander around and do things while you are waiting, cause there is nothing to wait for. Everyone can fill every role. So out of every single world, and all the players queuing up, you would never have to wait. So again, no one would form groups on their world anymore and everyone would just sit in town queuing up. The second you click that button, you would be in a group instantly, giving you no time to do other things while waiting, thus making everyone just sit around doing nothing while they queue for dungeons.

We don’t need that in GW2. What would be acceptable, is a similar system to what we had in GW1. It would be perfect, and would still do a great job on helping everyone find a group.

I personally don’t care how they implement the tool, as long as it makes grouping for content a little easier than spamming chat in LA.

you could be right about the queue times, IF everyone is looking for the exact same content you are. When you factor in level, dungeon, mode, path, etc. maybe the queues are longer, who knows…

also, just because everyone CAN play any role, doesn’t mean everyone WANTS to play any role. so maybe the tool could let you select how you’ve built your class out, i.e. with a focus towards dps, support, healing, etc. if you have multiple sets of armors and can play multiple roles, then sign up for any or all of them, or just sign up for the role you feel like playing at the moment

i don’t think anyone wants the LFG tool to automatically pop 5 burst dps thiefs into the same group, or some such configuration

i don’t see any harm in stating the role you feel like filling at the time. the beauty of GW2 is that you can choose a different one on your very next dungeon run.

if the game let you respec/trait on the fly then it would be closer to what you describe, it would just be 5 random folks thrown together and then everyone would respec at the start of the dungeon run and roll… but that’s not the case. GW2 has lots of flexibility in role assignment, but that doesn’t mean everyone needs, or even wants that much flexibility… though its nice that its there.

i know Anet’s goal was to avoid class roles to an extent and just let all 5 group members find a way to win based upon whatever configuration they currently are in, but i’m not convinced yet that its playing out that way. but if i’m wrong, and 5 burst dps rogues can clear a dungeon just as easily as a more balanced group then maybe Anet did achieve that goal…
