So it’s been some months since I’ve played and left off about ~500g short of a legendary. Not a big deal to most of you, I’m sure, but as someone who gets tired of the grind pretty easily and simply just lacks the time to game (~20h a week usually), I’m having trouble deciding how I want to make the money.

I feel like I’ve done about everything this game has to offer until HoT. Fractals, dungeons, jumping puzzles, world bosses, champ grinds, WvW, key farming, etc. You name it, I’ve probably done it. So my conundrum here is I don’t see any new perspectives on how to make gold and have fun while doing it. I don’t care if it isn’t necessarily efficient, just as long as it’s fun. Cycling through the basics is just too monotonous.

It sounds like you’ve got a good bit of playtime in. You may want to go through your collection tab and see if there is anything worth parting with. You may have a good bit of Gold in assets.

- You didn’t mention the Silverwastes farm. Have you done that?
-You can get a bunch of maize balm and go kill some ambient creatures for ToT bags. It’s not particularly efficient and it gets old quick, but it is something.
-You could get a part time job. Jobs tend to be more gold per hour than anything in game.
-You could port jumping puzzles and hope for tips.
-You can run around maps gathering. I used to do this before I learned of more lucrative ways to farm. It can be nice to go back and see some of these zones too. The game really is quite beautiful, and it’s easy to forget when you’re stuck in Farm mode.

I’d suggest making a new alt, play a different way than the cookie-cutter masses, take them through the personal story and living stories.

You get quite a bit of loot from doing those, with little pressure and just a fun way to play without ‘farming’

At first I was thinking you were talking about something new they implemented in the game and then I laughed. Already working ~40h a week with crushing student loan debt. Plus, the idea of buying my legendary bothers me. The pixels would feel more hollow, if that means anything.

Thanks for the other advice though, I’ll probably go back and explore some old zones. I remember making a bunch of food because making food is always fun even if it’s not the most ideal way to make money.

Have you tried making gold off the Karka Queen event? I don’t mean actually doing the event, btw… what I mean is, every time that event finishes, a ton of karka shells suddenly get dropped onto the market, and the “spread”, the difference between the Place Order price and the Buy It Now price, opens up. So, every time the Karka Queen event is up, simply open up the Trading Post wherever you happen to be by hitting the “o” button, and put in an Order for 250 Karka Shells. Then relist them at a higher price. Lately I’ve been able to buy them right after each Karka Queen event for 4.80-4.85 silver each, then sell them for 6.10-6.15 silver each. It usually takes less than an hour to get all the gold back from selling the shells, and you gain about 1 gold profit for every stack you sell. You can, of course, do this with more than 1 stack if you’d like, especially during the prime time in your region (NA prime for NA, etc.)

There are actually a thousand TP trick like this, but when I say “Move a market” or “Flip items on the Trading Post” people generally say it’s too hard unless I give them a specific example of something they can try today, so there you go. Karka Shells.

Go to SW and farm lot of crest to buy keys,then find a chest farm in LFG and you will make 100gold a day easy if you farm a lot.
