Any idea when the balance patch is happening?
5 weeks wasent it every 3 month? so 12 weeks.
Once every quarter, we’ll release a new, major balance update to shake up the meta for the next quarter.

Well with the leagues coming up in December I assume there might be a small balance patch than.

Based on 2013, 2014, and 2015, there won’t be “major” skills rebalancing in Dec or early Jan (US vacation schedules, recovery from a long year, etc). Plus, ANet likes to take their time looking at their data to figure out what’s getting used, for what, by whom, … If I had to bet, I’d predict mid-February 2016.
(That said, ANet did announce a Fractals iteration patch for Tuesday and I’d expect the Wintersday update to be ~two weeks later on ~15 Dec. I’m sure at least some skills will be adjusted.)

edit: I re-read the announcement about the fractal patch; it merely says December and I did my own wishful thinking about the specific date.

I seem to recall one of the devs saying something along the lines of “There’ll be a balance patch every 5(?) weeks”, anyone know where the source for it is?
That would be called “fantasizing” not “recall”. The source being ‘wishful thinking’, who hasn’t worked at ANet for years now .
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

A balance patch every three months is pretty pathetic if I do say so myself. Wishful thinking indeed.

Rebalancing more than four times a year would be pointless. It takes players 3-4 weeks to adjust to major changes. It takes about that long for ANet to collect data, leaving relatively little time to theorycraft, code, and test the changes.
He will probably be the first one to complain that the asc set he just crafted for his OP build got nerfed to the ground when the next balance patch goes live.
Nah, I just like having a balanced game, but thanks for the ridiculous assumption (because apparently wanting the game to be balanced means I want my “OP build” to be untouched #logic).

If it takes the player base 3 months to adjust to some balance changes, then there’s something seriously wrong with the player base. Fortunately that’s probably not the case considering that people adjusted to the expansion changes and established a meta (in pvp at least) in about a month or less.
