I was going to reply to a response on another thread to a grumpy old man. Instead I thought it might be fun to see it the are any other grumpy old men/women.

Watching the chat channel on my server (darkhaven) I have not seen indication of much older players, knowing full well we older players are becoming more rare each year (or more likely each day).

For non USA people SSI is the gov’t sponsored “retirement” program. But that is a whole different argument.

I think your diving into very personal territory lol.. I see this getting little response or being locked. I do know people in game ranging from 16-58 though.

I already heard a bit of older folks playing here in this forums, I personally don’t know any, but it’s nice to know they are here because when I get to that age I’ll be playing too!

I’m not retired but I am middle aged and grumpy, will that do?

A number of people in my guild are dads and moms. Some of them even granddads and grandmas (I think) :p

I’ve been retired for almost 4yrs, but do not qualify for ssi on multiple fronts. I’m not sure where this question is leading either as I cannot find any relevance to much of anything….ie what does ssi have to do with someone’s grumpiness and how would that relate to this game anyhow?

Yea I think the title could have been a simpler “How many other old grumps play GW2”. And that would have been fine. The SSI thing is personal for some people, as would be asking how many people play who’s moms bought the game, who live off disability etc etc. While none of these things are necessarily bad, I doubt that they add much to the conversation other that arguments about non GW2 related things like pension, SSI, and other government moneys. Nothing wrong with asking how many older players play though imo.

On reflection I could have stated it better. A previous thread about a grumpy old man kind of got me wondering.

The real question should have been are there players over 60 (age wise) playing GW2 and where. Just curious, no alternative motive other than would like to met some

Just retiring this month! 26 years in the Army ugh, all over now. But I’m still a just a punk kid, I’m only 50 so Social Security will be a few years off.

If ever, you know how uncle sam works haha. But you get better than ssi I would think. Anyway, reeling this back around to gw2 lol.. I noticed many people who play GW2 (that I have met) are generally older than in other MMO’s I have played.

I tend to run into a lot of older players myself. (45+ is my definition)

I think it must have to do with continually falling off jump puzzles that clusters us together for a conversation to start, usually with a bit of good hearted self-depreciating humor.

They paid into the system. If they want to spend their SSI on a game, that’s their business. It’s never was the governments money.

SS is unconstitutional anyways, It taxation without representation because many people will not get their money back from the government.

More on topic, I am much older than anyone…lol…been playing since pong. I hope to play until arthritis and alzheimer’s prevents me from doing so. Yay, old gamers.

Ah but with alzheimers we would never get bored of the game, because we would just forget about it and it would be all new over and over lol. Not to make light of the disease, but my memory is crap since the military, so I already learned to joke about myself ^^

Not quite 60 yet, but not far off it. I hated turning 50, but I’d kill for it now.

I like to think that the older players are wise enough to stay off of the forums. Personally, the only reason I bother with these boards is to kill time at work.

yup be 61 this summer, still working 10 hr days a little longer, playing at night and weekends. We have 13 grand kids and I have played some online games with them and had a ball. They are all busy exploring life right now so it’s just me playing. Im not grumpy though and years have taught me to be kind and above all dont judge others. Have fun players

My husband (69) and I (65) have been playing GW since GW 1 started.
Loving GW 2!! We only play PVE and play everyday. Our 6 grandkids love it,
they call me “granny gamer”. We buy what “us oldie” calls the tougher
games for them to play for us,their fingers are alot faster! (LOL ) The new Tomb Raider is awesome!!!!
We are addicted to GW 2 and our Guild name is “Grandparents can play 2”
Only 2 members so we can play at our own pace…..lol
Retirement wouldn’t be the same without our GW’s……lol
