Any serious end game?

No serious end game, other than wvw

Maybe people are evolving. Daiblo 3 have a good 1 hour of content. People getting sick of doing the same 1 hour content over and over again.
That’s why I quit Diablo3 to play GW2. Diablo have 1 hour of non-repeatable content while GW2 have hundreds of hours of it.
After 8 map completion. Farmed the same instance hundred of times, did the same fractal hundred of times. I can’t stand to play GW2 any more.
I logon everyday to do daily. That’s all I can stand doing, and waiting for the next patch seemed to be the endgame for me in GW2.
I have fun in GW2. I think it have hundreds of hours of fun content. I just dont’ think it have 3756 hours of it, which is my playing hours right now.
Seems like you’ve gotten more than your money’s worth. It’s not about evolution, it’s about people having insane expectations. No one is paying a subscription for Diablo 3, they are not owed content.
You aren’t paying a sub for this game. You are not owed content. You get it anyways in the form of mini-updates and (probably I’d guess) a fairly large one later this year, yet still you kitten.
It’s not about “evolution.” That’s bullkitten. It’s about people being entitled and not understanding the concept of “move on”. You sink hundreds of hours into something and get bored? Congratulations, you’re a natural human being who seeks new experiences. Maybe step outside of your monitor and, oh, you know, do something else? Maybe take a break until something seems fresh again?
The advent of the internet and games being online has led to this idea that games ought to just be patched with brand spanking new content at the whims of players. Not only is it an entitled attitude, but its nigh impossible for developers to reasonably keep up with.
Arena-Net busts their kitten with the frequency of their updates. Yet it’s not good enough and people still kitten.
Human evolution? More like bored child who can’t be bothered to entertain him/herself-volution. There are a million things to do in this world. Why do you expect a game developer to baby sit your free time and provide you with some kind of slow-drip needle heroin addiction of a game?
Once more: the WoW days are over. I mean, dude, you admit to playing this game for over 3 THOUSAND 5 HUNDRED hours, near 4 thousand. Do you realize that there are only 8,765 hours in 1 year?
Chew on that for a minute.

There is a big difference between WoW and Guild Wars 2. I played WoW for about 6 years regularly. I’m not going to measure out our “credentials” when it comes to that game.
WoW is way different, it’s based on an entirely different model of progression, it’s based on a gear treadmill, it thrives on instanced content, it renders its world entirely useless with every update, and it’s a subscription based game.
You’re problem is that you do not understand the fundamental differences between the two design philosophies of the game. I cannot make you understand this.
I’m not making a joke of WoW. I’m being serious. WoW is over. This is not WoW. This is Guild Wars 2. This is not a game that revolves around “getting to the end” and then slow-drip heroin like grinding in one raid instance for months salivating like an idiot over +20 stamina upgrades.
If that’s your deal, then you know where to go. Plenty of people still trying to cash in on that model.
If you don’t believe me that the games are fundamentally different: you will be able to purchase a level 90 character in WoW in just a few months. Not different? My kitten .
Also, I’d love to hear you justify spending over 1/4 of a year’s worth of time in this game that is less than 2 years old while still complaining that there is nothing to do in it and you are owed content when a new update came out yesterday and before that about 2 weeks ago.
Really, I’m on the edge of my kittening seat.

You should go out to the open world in GW2. Besides the few events which drop dragonite ore, it’s pretty empty.
I go into the world daily. Everyday. That’s how I play the game. I’m sorry, but my experiences on Tarnished Coast do not match up with yours.

TC is not like every server. It’s nowhere close to how the majority of servers are currently populated.
I can not take anyone seriously from BG or TC anymore. These top tier servers do not represent a realistic view of the game.

Thanks for that. This mentality is getting on my nerves as well. Overall, I’d say Anet’s been doing a pretty impressive effort of keeping up with those unrealistic demands, too. Sure, the content that’s poured in is hit and miss, but can you really complain all that much when said content is dumped in your lap for free?
As opposed to some people in this thread, I’ll say there is endgame. It isn’t spoonfed as much as in other classic MMOs. That routine of the endgame instances till your eyes bleed, ten more levels, new instances until your eyes bleed again, rinse, repeat, which I’m sure a lot of people sought to escape with GW2, is old and used. Here, you might have to handpick your endgame, devote your time to wvw, dive into pvp, fractals, work on a legendary,… Or even better, do all that. It’s a shame that as the selling point of the game was to be different from that old, used recipe, there’s still people who’d want to funnel it into conformity.
I had no clue what end game was. I have a few level 80’s decent gear not ready to start the ascended grind. I am nearly finished with my legendary. I’m still learning dungeons and how to fully play each of my characters. Learning ALL of their weapons. I have a ton of achievements to finish… It’s crazy how much there is to do and they always push more out.
How are so many people finished with everything and asking for more…

People don’t realize how “endgame” killed WoW.
The sole reason why people play WoW is because of the endgame. It is a big part of what made WoW such a ludicrous success. Just like every MMO after it, gw2’s PvE content is build around the same principle, but in a more modern and milder interpretation.
And saying that GW2 doesn’t have an endgame. . . Well, perhaps we’ve just gotten so used to it that the “evolution” that GW2 brought was perhaps not as big as it would seem. The majority of the content is available once at maximum level. The vast majority of skins (which is a huge feature in the game), FotM, Arah, HotW, CoE (More than half of the Dungeons are available only at or slightly below max level).
The leveling up process is more enjoyable than in most other MMOs, but I’d be lying to say that it’s just as enjoyable to play the game in lower levels. Actually, now that I’ve a few characters at max level, I find it extremely tedious. What’s the point of leveling, really, if it’s not the same as in WoW’s endgame-philosophy?
“Well, what’s your point? An MMO without levels?” Well as it looks today, I’d say there would have to be something of the sort to avoid having an endgame. Levels lock us out from content, and they seem to always lock us out from the best content.
As a PvE player, if you’re not progressing your character aesthetically, then what is there? If you still enjoy FotM/Dungeon-content after doing it 700 times (it’s not a very big number at all) just for the enjoyment of the encounter, awesome. But I don’t think there’s any denial that this kind of content revolves about actual rewards (gold & such). That is the design of the PvE content.
Personally, if there was PvE content that was difficult enough to make the encounters really tense and engaging, where the reward lied in actually completing those encounters, then I wouldn’t care about gold or loot. But the game doesn’t offer this.
Hell, take the Legendary Weapons as an example: To deserve to own one of them, you are forced to grind an insane amount. And that’s fairly much it.
It’s not a token of completing anything difficult, it’s not a testament of your skill or the fact that you’re a true master of the game or anything. . .
You have a Legendary because you’ve grinded, and if you want to acquire it effectively, you’ve done so mindlessly. Perhaps with a movie in the background to make it through the tedious tasks.

What is “endgame”?
It’s when people have already maxed their character, but want reasons to keep playing the game.
If you don’t like WvW, and if you find dungeons/ fractals not engaging for you (and with reason, be it either to poor design or dredge’s fractals), then most of what is left to do in GW2, outside of the living story chapters, is to farm dailies, auto-attack champions and grind for ascended gear.
Not exactly more exciting than the competition, is it?
GW2 needs more goals, more challenges to acchieve those goals, and better rewards for overcoming those challenges, to get better endgame content. Or else, outside of the living story, there’s nothign left but to repeat (= farm) content.
Repeatable content wouldn’t even be that bad if it was diverse and different each time you repeat it. Fractals is decent at this. WvW and sPvP are always very dynamic due to the nature of pvp and due to balance meta changes.
Playing with alts could also help at this, if the game wasn’t so easy and broken to the point that auto-attack or min-maxing dps sequences wasn’t the only thing to do in pve’s combat where it matters. And, of course, GW2 is not very friendly to alts either.
In the end, GW2 lacks endgame not because it’s different, but because Anet was not very successful at executing it, and are still trying to pull it off. GW2 has a lot of potential, but the execution and design still need to evolve.
Heyo. I havent played GW2 since last fall. Hit 80 and moved on. But im starting to get the itch to play again.
I was planning on coming back. start a new character. But im curious on how the end game is currently. Or if there is any. That way i can still have that drive to play knowing that at 80 that wont be it really.

We dont raid for the next level of fugly armor in gw2…we grind epic and annoying for shiney, pretty and dragonite and empyreal (ascended crafting) if you only play one character, this will all be over quite fast… then pick your poison.. i just dont recomend gem store armors until they been out for a few weeks so you dont lose real money when someones diaper springs a leak

don’t you think the term means different things to different people? And why is it called endgame anyway, does the game actually end? I know it comes from chess but to use the term in an mmo, where the game is not supposed to end, seems a bit of a misnomer.

something that nobody actually quite gets, so i give them the rather real goal of making yourself as shiny and pretty as you can, then doing it on another character, and another, and another. 4-5 should be quite reasonable… and you will learn the ins and outs of all the classes, all the fights, and the majority of what you like and don’t…then hit the forums here and try your best not to be angry over what isn’t right at the moment…
one of everything, 4-5 super spiffy shiny pretty, forums here are the true endgameI think people looking for endgame content are really looking for a challenge. There is little, if anything, I can’t do with my axe wielding warrior by simply running around pressing 1. In some extreme cases, i may be required to dodge. I can farm all the legendaries, get all of the achievements and titles and do all of the living story content that comes out. All you need is a high tolerance for boring, repetitive tasks to be a successful Guild Wars 2 player.
This is a very fun single player RPG. I really enjoyed leveling up to 80 with several different classes, the jumping puzzles are fun, exploring all the areas and finding all the vistas was rewarding. The personal story quests are interesting. However if you are itching to play a traditional Everquesty MMO this is not what you were looking for. The upcoming game Wildstar might be worth checking out.
