buy at the tp.

okay, if that’s really really not an option, then just play. do SW chests & events, do superscaled cursed shore events, randomly murder mobs, but most importantly, play. Playtime doesn’t guarantee anything but it gives you a lot lot lot more chances to finally see that elusive precursor.

of course, it won’t be the one you need. so ultimately, you’re gonna have to buy it off the TP, even if you do it with gold made from selling the precursor you actually did get.

Throw high lvl rare/exotic staffs into the forge. Of course it will cost you A LOT of money, but that’s the only way afaik to get the exact precursor you want unless you buy it of the tp.
No telling how many thousands of gold you’ll need though (unless you’re super lucky).

My recommendation if the TP is not an option is: wait for HoT. Then do your Bifrost pre-cursor scavenger hunt and farm the T6 mats using the map event completion system.

While you’re waiting for HoT you can work on getting the other components on the wiki page. You will need about 200g for the Icy Runestones, recipes and 100 unidentified dyes. You will also need 500 shards of Zhaitan and a bunch of other components.

Honestly, I would recommend just going through the wiki page and work on either gathering or making the components seems like the best way.

Dungeon or SW farm and buy it, or wait and see what the HoT mastery track is like.

I knew someone who was persistent with the forge. He threw rare staffs in and if he got an exotic, sold it to buy more rare staffs. He did eventually get the legend. There’s really no advice to give to obtain a precursor outside of “get lucky,” and “how to farm gold.”

Good luck!

You have 4 options:

1) Buy it from the TP
2) Get it as a drop
3) Get it from the Mystic Forge
4) Wait for HoT and use the scavenger hunt to make one

1 is IMO the best choice (most reliable anyway, sure it’s expensive but at least you know what you’re aiming for.

2 is the cheapest and easiest to do, but also the most uncertain. Precursors can drop from anything which can drop a level 80 exotic weapon – any enemy you kill on a level 80 character, world bosses, jumping puzzles, champion bags etc. etc. but it’s an extremely low drop rate and there’s no guarantee you’ll ever get one.

3 is kind of a compromise between 1 and 2. The Forge has a higher drop rate than anything else (especially if you put in exotics instead of rares) but it’s expensive and it is random so there’s no way of knowing in advance how much you’ll need to spend. You might get one right away, you might spend far more than it would cost on the TP and end up with nothing.

4 is probably going to become the best option for most people, but we don’t really know anything about it yet.
