Hi,

My Charr Guardian wears Vigil armour, and as a result basically any scepter/focus I give him is either mostly or completely hidden by his coat. I don’t want this to sound like a complaint, as I’m more looking for advice. Basically there are a couple of skins that do show up properly, but they’re quite pricey (I’m not that rich) and don’t look that great. Is there any word on whether or not ANet are planning to adjust the way weapons display to avoid clipping issues, making it better to wait for a skin I actually want, or should I just buy a skin that works now?

Thank you!

Clipping is ridics, I have a human necro and if I try wearing the light “named” armor the mask and the neck part of the chest piece clips EVERYWHERE on my forehead, eyebrows, chin, etc. It saddens me.

Is there any MMO… or videogame for that matter, that ever managed to resolve all clipping issues of all its item combinations?
Honest question.

I played countless games and not a single one was clipping-free especially those with heaps of armors/weapons.

Clipping is a major issue with both armor and weapons. Even te opposite of clipping exists; major space voids where small weapons float too far from the body. My daggers aren’t even close. I can’t mix any of the light armor sets without major clipping. Overall it makes things look very cheap, which is sad, given how nice the graphics are.

Yeah, clipping is pretty bad especially if you play a Charr. But thankfully I haven’t run into any clipping errors quite as bad as the GW1 Warrior Ancient armor set. Clipping when you’re using certain strange gear combinations, during certain animations, or even with certain races can be understandable….. wearing a full set of armor designed to be worn as a set, in a game with only 2 character models that can wear that set (male and female warriors), and STILL having the set clip through itself in a way that makes the set literally impossible to exist in a physical space WHILE standing completely still was really silly. I just don’t know how that sort of thing happens.

I seriously doubt this is going to change and it’s likely that you’re either going to have to live with it or adjust your look to minimize the clipping. There are just too many gear combinations to account for and any changes to one run the risk of creating more new clipping issues than are fixed. As far as I can tell the nodes are generic and they’re not making special cases for certain armors or items.

Fixing a clipping issue with, say, a helmet that clips on the heads of all Charr, sure. Fixing foci that clip with a particular pair of leggings.. not likely to ever happen.

Cool, thanks for the input. I’ll just go with a weapon that shows up through the armour. I get it’s a complex issue to resolve, but with ANet’s focus on skins in endgame I thought they might have said something about working on it.

Really wasn’t a complaint though, five races, all of which can change build, and a huge range of armour and weapons to match up is always going to have some issues.
