I go there only to collect mats with guildies,I find the whole area to be very uninspired and depressing and yes too many mobs aggroing every 5 steps.

Overpopulations of Risen does get a bit exausting, but I haven’t found it to be THAT bad really. And I actually like the environments in truth. They’re a bit brown and dreary which isn’t nessicarily a good thing, but I do enjoy all the sea life and such, fits well with a place thats been in the ocean for centuries, and I’ve always been a fan of sea life.

My main problem with Orr is the limited waypoints.

At any given time, half the waypoints in the zone are contested (more if you’re not on during peak hours). Means if you die, you have to waypoint to an area half the map away and walk all the way back, because the 3 waypoints closer to you are all contested. Nothing is more tedious than doing what you’ve already done (in this case walking back through the area you just came through) just because you make a mistake and die.

Lol, it was so much worse a few months ago. The population was twice what it is now and you would be perma stunned/hobbled. If you were lucky there would be 2 WP’s open at any given time. I wonder if a lot of you would have just quit the game before that patch if you have a problem with Orr now.

I like Orr, I make a lot of gold from Orr. It is so easy now to farm mats.

they should remove ALL the Wp from orr, you know since THEY ALWAYS CONTESTED and you have to run all the place again because you die miserably trying to run a pack of trash.

We just don’t want players to grind in Guild Wars 2. No one enjoys that.

How about opening the areas South, East and Southeast of Orr, so we can see what the rest of the area looks like. Instead of Making Arah a dungeon, make it one large jumping puzzle to the top to kill Zaithan. Instead make Arah a place like you have on the rest of the map. Take Arah out of the dungeon environment and make it a mappable environment.

I have a few questions. If Orr has just risen from the bottom of the sea that would explain all the Risen on land as regular creatures have not yet moved onto the “new” land. However why would the sea be infested with Risen and have no regular mobs? Have the Risen underwater killed all the normal creatures? As well, the land based Risen are also found in the water. So were they all Risen before the land rose above the surface of the sea? At what point does the lore state they actually rose from the dead?

I hate Orr only by virtue of no other open-world area being as profitable as Cursed Shore.

I long for the day when I complete my legendary and can say, “I think I’ll farm some trolls in Frostgorge today, because I don’t care that sporadic powerful blood drops aren’t as profitable as a constant stream of moldy bags.”

I hate Orr because of its theme.

In GW1, the evil places are Ring of fire & Realm of torment.

Ring of fire is a volcanic place with lava everywhere. The mobs are flashy too with lava/pure gold/purple crystal.

Realm of torment. You can find gothic buildings in some places. There are different kinds of monsters. Tormented, Titans, Margonite (which has very cool effect).

In GW2, especially Orr, there’s only undead zombies everywhere. Even the boss wielding Eternity uses normal risen model. I’d rather see something like Behemoth in orr.

People are mostly tired of Risen.

Whatever happened to the GW1 undead? They were a LOT cooler!

Zombie Hound (Skeletal wolves)

Bone Dragon/Rotscale (An undead freaking DRAGON!)

Necrid Horsemen (Risen on HORSES!!!)

Granted, abominations are pretty baddass. But every other risen was just silly. Imagine if instead, Zhaitan was commanding armies of risen horsemen in position? Imagine if we were fighting zombie DRAGONS other than Tequatl?

Looks like most people posting here have no idea about the lore or haven’t done any of the “Story” quests.

IT’S SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE THAT AND BE FILLED WITH THE UNDEAD!

Yeah, I do not care about the undead. A few notes though..

1. People are complaining about the lack in variety of the undead. I think someone above mentioned all the cool undeads in GW1.

2. Orr is supposed to look like that, up until the 2nd last story mode mission. Then it’s supposed to be cleansed, but it isn’t. I can understand why they cannot change it for MMO reasons, but lore-wise, doesn’t make sense.

3. Personally, I do not like Orr because it’s frustrating. It’s fine if you are running events or doing the story, but it’s a huge pain to do map completion. I am running to a Vista and a zombie pulls me back and a tar elemental immobilizes me and then i get poisoned etc etc.. I just want to get to that Vista!! (or skill point, or waypoint). I realize it is supposed to be challenging, but instead it’s just frustrating.

4. Whether something is supposed to look like that or not does not take away from the fact that it’s not as visually appealing. Personally, I’d like more places with the visual appeal of Bloodtide Coast.

Orr pre-nerfing was a depressing, horrible, inane map that I didn’t want to even try clearing.
Post-nerfing it still has depressing moments, but it also has moments I can sit back and imagine what it looked like pre-flooding instead of running away from huge mobs.

There’s still some challenge for me when I solo things, but now it give me a hunger to see how it looked before the Vizier messed things up.
Yeah the look is slimy and such, but it rose up from the water and I can understand why it looks like that. Some areas do look rather disgusting even with this bit of news in my mind.

Then again I love the Shiverpeaks so my tastes are different. I love vast open cold areas where I could simply point and say “I’m going there!”

Elona, Land of the Golden Sun….and undead…and poison. The travel brochure lied okay?!

People hate Orr because they do realize it is not a single player or 5-man area.

You get overwelmed because you enter it under welmed.

Per Anet it is for large groups nor asolo area

Except you have solo personal story missions in it. It’s also entirely solo-able.. I just did it. It’s frustrating, but doable.

I hate how I am the only one wanting to do the temples and the only one doing the events to get to them. But “OMFG WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE” if the path to Arah isn’t open.

I don’t even think you need the path to be open anymore to run Arah…maybe only for the Karma vendors?

Orr looks amazing, and it’s quite fun to wander around in. I don’t find any particular problem with mob density or snaring or what have you.

What I do hate is the zombie theme. I’m sick to death of kittening zombies. Every kittening game has kittening zombies in it these days. Enough with the zombies please.

My biggest gripe is that Orr is deserted and abandoned now on my server, Tarnished Coast. Events fail because there are a tiny handful of people there. Everything is contested. Events are left abandoned.

It is almost impossible to finish the zone on a new character right now, solo. If I get ganged by mobs and die, I have to start over at the beginning of the zone because there are no uncontested waypoints in the other half of the zone.

I think they need to work a bit on the scaling mechanic in Orr. They worked on scaling for huge groups, now they need to be able to scale Orr down to the handful of players we have there now. I don’t want the Orr Group Events to be soloable, but they should be able to be completed with a group of 5-10 players. (even if it would take longer)

XOXO

Orr for me has always been in a disastrous state. I can never find any incentive to go there other than crafting materials, because any other reason would guarantee me at least 10 deaths and a handful of gold wasted on repairing. The Risen are extremely unfair in their attack style. Usually you could use your pet if you were a ranger to get a guy off you, but for me, as soon as I use it, they just come running back after the lure. There is absolutely NO reason for me to do anything or go anywhere regarding the undead anymore; it is broken beyond belief! I want to see this whole thing fixed real soon, otherwise I’m stuck without enjoying the entire experience of the game.

i think that being upset over the undead theme isn’t really a reason to be upset at orr because…well, plotwise and such that is likely never going to change and also it is the defining aspect of orr. i agree that orr is rather difficult to navigate by yourself, i have more fun in groups but a problem with orr for me is that the waypoints are nearly almost always contested and that it’s almost impossible to explore new areas in orr without having a group of 3 at least—otherwise i get tossed around and ganged up on a little too much for my tastes.

i see a lot of disagreement in this thread over whether or not orr is actually difficult. what i think makes orr difficult and uninviting for a new level 80 is the fact that it takes almost too much skill for a newly levelled character to really be able to handle it, and so it is kind of discouraging to enter. of course with repeated visits you would get better with it, but why go into orr again if you didnt like your first impression of it? one of the reasons why i don’t want to finish my story is because i need a group to escort me to the dungeon alone. i won’t lie and say i am an incredibly skilled player that can solo my way through orr.

yeah i don’t really like orr either, but it’s just because for me it’s fairly difficult at the moment. whether it was more or less difficult in the past does not matter for me, because at the moment it’s nearly impossible to get through for someone like me! weeding out the week i suppose.

i don’t know what’s going on

I actually enjoy the style of Orr. For instance, I remember running from a mob of zombies up onto a pillar, only to realize it was actually a large, dead, spiky starfish. Pretty odd, had me sitting there for a bit.

Seeing how the underwater stuff merged into the ruins has me simultaneously imagining how Orr used to look, and also how cool all the deep sea things are.

The sheer number of immobilizes, however… That and temples. While some are possible to do in a group of 5 or so, some (cough Balthazar cough) just take such an absurd number of people there’s no chance of completion. I actually have no real issue with the zombies, though it may be because I don’t tend to play a lot of zombie games and am thus not burned out on them.
