Anyone else having a problem with monthly?
Nope, did it the first day of the month.

I applaud your reading skills.
Same problem here. I don’t really play WvW, but found it quite easy to pick up the kills in a couple of evenings last month. This month is a different story – my server just seems to have given up. There’s a few players on, but not enough to deal with the zergs coming from the dominant server.
Blame nightcapping for the deserted wvwvw servers. Hopefully ANet will fix this by only allowing europeans to play on european servers and american only on american servers etc.
Hopefully =\ meanwhile I’m getting shorted out of my monthly =[
We’ve had 3 weekends already. One left. Either do it or not, but with the huge karma from it, even if you hate wvw it’s worth toughing it out for 50 kills.
My monthly kills this month came during a blow-out week, and it didn’t take too long to get 50 kills, even while there were very few people on the maps.
Whoever came up with this requirement was wrong.
No, no excuses, just plain wrong. It’s a silly thing to ask for from PvE players, and it’s frustrating as hell to do – especially when you can’t make sure your players aren’t getting 1 Frame Per Century in this gamemode.
Kill it, get rid of it. It’s awful, awful, awful.
Thank kittens it doesn’t affect most of the game though.
Is WvW even viable for lowbies? My two highest characters are in their 20s.
I’m struggling with it a little. Played for an hour this morning and managed to get about 12 kills. I could probably do better if I played smarter.
WvW is perfectly viable for lowbies. You’re pumped up to 80 for the duration of your stay. You might be slightly outgeared by higher level characters in all rares or exotics, but the difference shouldn’t be that terrible, especially if you’re with a few other people. After all, it’s kind of difficult to succeed in WvW by acting completely alone.
Wish they had a monthly for PvE as well
I do not PvP ever so will never get it so will just have to be happy with doing the daily.

But PvE requirements are A-OK to ask from PvP players amirite?
Oh, sorry, didn’t mean to step on your toes — I may have avoided them had your foot not been on my ankle..
Depending on your class it might be more difficult.
I finished it later this month with my Elementalist while defending a tower… lots of AoE everywhere =p
If you’re having trouble, you can always get a group of 3~4 (you usually find them in the starting area) and roam around looking for small preys. Run away from the zerg when you spot, fight 1v1s and 3v3s around the map until you get it.
out of my roughly 400 hours in game, 390 are pve…and I manage to get 50 every month since launch with the other 10 hours…while getting 100% in each of the 4 wvw maps.
it is doable. in fact I got 70 kills last night in 2 hours without zerging more than 30 of those kills.
It’s perfectly doable. I get them within a week of the monthly reset when not playing that often.

The difference is you can do the pve in wvw. Not in pvp, of course, because it’s its own system.
Events – yep
kill 50 players – yep
salvage is the same for everyone
candy-corn mining – yep
Your ankle wasn’t stepped on at all, that was just the way it fit when you put it in your mouth. ;D
mulch- you can do almost all pve content in wvw with exception of dungeons and personal story. I don’t get your gripe at all
I barely WvW at all, but I was able to knock out all 50 kills last Saturday afternoon. Just use a lot of AoEs in big melees. It can take a while sometimes, but it’s totally doable. I wouldn’t recommend trying to hunt down stragglers in one on one scenarios, just figure out an often contested fort on your side to camp at, preferable behind an arrow cart, or follow an assault team around and just drop AoEs on their enemies to. . . share in their victories.
Oh, and btw, I did this on the Borderlands of my server’s strongest enemy, the one that was crushing us. I think it’s actually easier to get kills in areas where you’re on your back foot, because the enemies come to you and expect to win. Maybe they will, but you can get a bunch of kills before they do, and then get a bunch more when your team retakes the position. Also when you die fighting over the base nearest your home portal, running back takes almost no time at all, compared to having to restart from the center fortress.

There’s no real reason for this attitude. You don’t have to enjoy PvP, kitten, I don’t enjoy trying to find 15 different types of things every day, but I do it. In this game, if you can play PvE, you can do just fine in WvW, and yeah, you’ll probably die quite a bit, and sometimes that’s not fun, but you shouldn’t die way too much, but the waypoints are free and the profit margins on WvW are good enough that even after repairs you should come out ahead, so just chill out and do the work.
you spend complaining about it on the forums, you’d be
done by now.”

You automaticly scale up to level 80 in WvW. You don’t get the traits or slot skills that come with actualy leveling, but your gear stats scale up with you.
Completed it without much issue towards the end of a WvW cycle while fighting against a server that was pretty much dominating the map. Didn’t take very long.
