“We aren’t quite ready to go into all the details here, but what I can say is you will see a specific way to build precursor items on your way to a legendary. On top of this, you’ll also see new legendary weapons and new types of legendary gear in 2013. Building your precursor will require a large amount of the new crafting material rewards listed above, 500 in crafting, and likely a combination of other items earned for completing more specific content in the game.”

And~

“Although Johanson couldn’t commit to a timeframe, new weapon types and expansion of current types to more classes is absolutely in the works.”

Continually bringing this up isn’t helping any in getting it done, and the fact that people still aren’t willing to let it go gives them an excuse to completely ignore us on current relevant issues.

Now whenever we bring something up that matters, all they have to do is point to threads like these and say, “Oh this is why we don’t discuss information related to our game/systems.”

Yeah, and you are only proving their point that they want to keep everything underwraps until they believe “its ready”. Hence the secrecy. Bringing this up isn’t helping at all.

People make mistakes. Developers are people. Stuff happens.

also, selective reading is selective:

From the upcoming release of our brand spanking new Looking for Group (LFG) tool, to investigating ways to limit culling in PvE, to the two-week content schedule our Living World teams have in store, the second half of 2013 has countless more exciting new things in store for our players than I can possibly cover here. As always, the content above is subject to change as we test and iterate on these systems.

Personally I see this as a little Jab at ArenaNet exactly for being so secretive with their Goals and plans for the future, It has almost been 2 years from these posts and we are yet to hear an update or anything regarding them?

I’d be completely content if ArenaNet came out, put everything on the table and gave us simple reasons for why things such as this have been overlooked or put on wait.

If it were as simple as “At this point in Gw2s Development we’ve decided to Focus more on Living story and Character progression rather than work on ________” Why not simply just say so.

These things have just been left in the dark and people still have them on their minds because we haven’t been given a plan or explaination for what is actually going to happen.

@Serophous – Ah there’s the line I’ve been waiting to see regarding this issue. I’ve seen people gripe about the lack of craftable precursors and new legendaries for a while now, but I didn’t think ANet would have made such a promise like that. Wishful thinking seems to dominate the precursor crafting discussion because it feels like too much of a grind for some people, yet most seem to disregard the comparison of GW2 grind to that of other MMORPGs like WoW and Runescape.

The grind for a legendary weapon is lengthy, but legendaries are not supposed to be easy to get and unfortunately ANet’s approach to making something harder to get often involves heavy reliance on RNG. I personally think the current system is best atm since most of the game is based on RNG, and crafting a legendary weapon is supposed to encompass all aspects of the game which currently relies rather heavily on RNG.

These are my opinions on the matter.

Golden shackles are still golden.

Yo…..seems like a typo with 2013, in reality is meant to be 2018….so will be finished soon.

At the end of 2013, they also said it was being pushed back. Items that were related to the scavenger hunt were also added to the game files, but never used. They probably cancelled it and decided to implement it only for the new legendaries. It’s generally not a good idea to change how something expensive is acquired. People are going to complain either way. Also, considering their intended for dedicated players, I doubt it has any priority.

You forgot to post this announcement when you were quoting the Devs:

We want to let you know that the ability to build your precursor will not be in our upcoming Feature Pack. The way progression and rewards work in Guild Wars 2 have changed quite a bit since we initially talked about that feature, and our main horizontal progression systems are about to get some additional updates in the upcoming feature pack. Because of that, we are looking into several ways to integrate building your precursor into our new updated reward and progression systems we’re working on, which is requiring additional development time and iteration. As always, we’ll share details on this system once it’s far enough along in production we’re ready to discuss it. March 19, 2014

Isn’t that the case with most of the whining threads on here? Selective memories, personal agendas, professional trolling, etc.

Actually, they did provide an update. But it goes against the agenda of your little conspiracy theory so you intentionally ignore it.

Your post reads like you think Anet owes you something. Let me assure you, they don’t.

please…I can’t hear this crying anymore.

Collin made (half a year ago?) some statements, that they made some mistakes in the past regarding communicating with the community. Cuz guys like you nailed the devs down for every single word they said, they have changed their communication strategy towards “no information at all, unless it’s done”. So no more “road ahead” or “GW2 manifesto” posts at all – that was the result of the unreasonable community responses.

So it’s done when it’s done – get over it.
