Anyone else sad new items look aweful?
It’s been a major complaint, as well as the fact that there were so few skins on release.
Yup, that outfit is not even NPC worthy…….
I Play On Fort Aspenwood [WHY]
The main race I play is Charr, and I have to say that it looks amazing on them. I recommend changing up the colors on the outfit. It does help a lot.
Yak’s Bend Server
Crimethink [ct]
That outfit is a throwback to GW, or so I’m told.
RIP City of Heroes
That outfit is a throwback to GW, or so I’m told.
Would have been cool if it actually looked like that. Unfortunately for female characters it looks like this
Fojja – Vyxxi – Nymmra – Mymmra – Champion of Dwayna .. and more
Highly Over Powered Explorers [HOPE] – Desolation EU
Aveneo, that’s a throwback to female paragon gear though.
Fairly close to what they used to wear, too.
Yeah, I found myself going welp that wasn’t necessary. On the other hand given they also give you fifty dollars in gems it’s the same cost as buying the expansion without the extra content. I buy gems so for me there was no real loss. (shrug)
While the outfit (for females) may not be ANet’s finest costume artwork, at least it has simple lines and is without bizarre and extraneous protuberances.
I’m ok with it since I refuse to buy outfits until allot more high quality armor comes out
It’s pretty bad. Looks low quality and dated, like they made it before they made the core game, QC scrapped it, then they brought it back and stuck it in the 2nd xpac. I enjoyed my similar Paragon armor in GW1, but it has no place in 2017. Hopefully they’ll revisit this costume and update it (highly doubt it).
I love the chest piece of the sunspear outfit, though I must admit I was extremely saddened that it was an outfit, rather than a set of armor skins. I’d love to just have the chest piece as a skin, but sadly it’s not possible.
I’m also not particularly a fan of the weapon skins, but I’m glad that Anet still introduced them, as we need more plain looking weapon skins – if you look at the wardrobe, currently, there are WAYYY too many magical-looking weapons with floating things or sparkly/glowy effects. I think it’s good that we’re getting more plain looking weapons – I love many of the plain weapons from GW1, for example.
I would be very happy if Anet provided separate skins for the sunspear outfit, or we were able to convert our outfits into a set of separate skins.
It’s been a major complaint, as well as the fact that there were so few skins on release.
I was disappointed there wasn’t any mention of new skins or anything, though I think it just wasn’t a priority/worth mentioning in the expansion announcement, as it’s clear there are new weapon and armor skins in the expac footage – It would be nice to see all the new skins that will be coming with Path of Fire though. I wish Anet would have included info on this :-(
I pray there will be some craftable Nightfall throwback armor designs, or maybe a small collection like the Mistward set was with Revenant. Though with the track record like ANet, I am not expecting a lot. The videos probably just showed us a bunch of outfits.

That’s wonderful! It’s the Spearmarshal outfit from GW1.
Is that the so-called “Spearmarshal’s Presense” that is mentioned in the Deluxe Edition? If so, what is the “Lily of the Elon Pass”? A location teleport?
Would have been cool if it actually looked like that. Unfortunately for female characters it looks like this
Oh.
At first I was a bit disappointed, the outfit looked really cheap and not even worth to look at but then I tried it on every single race and became a happy person because it fits every single race perfectly, unlike many other outfits.
It’s a GW1 thing, if you’re a vet of that game more likely that you love it.
You’re right it looks terrible, but hey i was playing “World of Warcraft” during those days, So the mounts thing is awesome! (Since they basically ripped off ArchAge with how these mounts function.) Now if the next step is to make mounts able to fight with you like in BDO It’d be more awesome, but i doubt that is gunna soon.

Am i the only one that wants a more muscle bound weightlifter female body type? Think it would be awesome.

If you are a GW1 player, this outfit is perfect. It has exactly the right amount of updated visual and classic nostalgia… and unfortunately ALL the female armors for classic GW1 paragons had that bare midriff which was my complaint then and now.
As for the weapons, I disagree with those being ugly as well. I am super sick of seeing only super flashy ridiculous weapon designs and seeing a bunch of more basic designs based on actual African weapons makes me really happy (even if the star is just a touch too large on some, and the cutlass is shaped more like a scimitar). A lot of people have been complaining about weapon skins being too elaborate.. can’t please 100% of every… just don’t get it.
The larger glass weapons look really cool and I want to make them work with a character. But the outfit didn’t work for me at all.
That said, even if I researched the skins and outfit before buying I’d still have gone Ultimate. Expansion, character slot, level 80 boost, shared inventory slot, VIP area access, a heap of gems… a couple vanity skins don’t bother me.
Yeah, the bonus gear not only looks a bit lame, but it’s an OUTFIT. When will they learn that nobody wants outfits. We want armor skins, bits and pieces that we can mix and match with different armor skins as we see fit. I would take a single completed armor set for 2-3 dozen outfits any day of the week. I would take a single good pair of shoulders or gloves over a full outfit skin. They need to give up on the Outfits, and this pre-order bonus is a really bad sign.

The Spearmarshall’s Presence is the outfit, and the Lily of the Elon Permanent Pass gives you access to a “luxury riverboat casino notorious for serving both the nobility, and criminal underground. This decadent den of iniquity offers convenience and comfort to those in the know, with access to vendors”.
It’s all found here: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/path-of-fire/
Just hover over the Packages to see what each one offers.
I have the pass, but it obviously can’t be used yet until the expansion comes out. See pic below. It’s basically like a desert styled Royal Terrace pass.

the only reason to go ultimate is if your are going to be buying gems in future mine as well get em now, plus some extra stuff. NO REASON to get middle option the “extras” aren’t worth the extra money alone. Get the cheap one instead. but since 4k gems cost 50 bucks anyways(29.99+50= 79.99+extra stuff) ultimate is the way to go if u want that extra stuff. I know some people who spend 10-15 bucks a month [real money] on gems since they don’t have to pay subscription fees anymore. I figure buying gems just once an xpac(you’d prolly spend the same over the course of the xpac or more) ain’t bad imo.

They did skins in the beginning but its too much work to fix every little clip for the 6 pieces of armor for each of the 5 races for both sexes and the 3 different types of armor, apparently. one skin fits all just easier. But i agree this is fashion wars!

sunSPEARS SPEARmarshal you think there would put a Spear in there aye….. like the staff hey it’s a pole let add the dagger onto it and BOOM goes the Dynamite and we got a SPEAR idk it just don’t seem right that there no SPEAR in a collection that named spear

Paragon Armor actually looks better in GW1. Outfit could use an update I think.

FFXIV had mounts that you could fight along side before BDO.
I agree, the armor looks sasly simple compared to the gw1 sunspears. Even caravan guards in gw1 had more detail

Wrong outfit I think. That’s not a Sunspear, that’s a Sunspear Marshal (Kormir, in fact). These are very close to the actual GW1 Sunspears.

i don’t mind the outfit so much, it actually fits my new sunspeer hunter concept.
however, the weapons look so cheap i really hope they are joking, they look like a 4 year old made them…..
Holly 5!
It’s horrible! Who approved that?! o__O?!
The outfit is not norn friendly. Havent tried it in a human yet.
Loved the weapon skins though.

I actually have the outfit on my male norn. His look is really, really close to my paragon in GW. I guess it depends on the physical look you create for the norn whether it is good or not.
That being said, I love the new outfit. It looks just like Paragon armor out of GW1.
The weapon skins are OK, for me. Loved the torch however.

Ah didn’t look at the torch. Will have another look later. I always assume torch skins are underwhelming. I’m very tempted by the shield as my “one” choice tho..

The torch made me laugh. So that is the one I took. How perfect is that for the region we are going to in the expac?
It is better than the GW1 paragon armor in at least one aspect. You are not forced to have giant patches of it that is always white.
When will they learn that nobody wants outfits.
Maybe when you learn not to use exaggeration and hyperbole. Neither seems likely.
Fyi, “Nobody wants outfits.” is not a true statement. You can only speak for yourself.
Aveneo, that’s a throwback to female paragon gear though.

Yeah, ‘Spearmarshall’s Presence’ is actually just a Sunspear Recruit outfit; not Sunspear Marshal armor that Kormir wore in GW1 (which was the image in the post I was responding to).
I would have LOVED a Sunspear Marshal outfit but I guess I’ll have to wait until ANet releases it in the gemstore as “Kormir’s Regalia outfit” or something so I can use it on my character called “Augur Of Kormir”.

I don’t care much for the new outfit or for the Spearmarshal GW1, but I would love to see any of the GW1 Vabbian come back as armors or outfits.
Looks odd on my Treebro. Isn’t the right shape.
Why isn’t anyone here talking about the clipping issue with this outfit on Norn males? (see image attached below)
Pretty amazing that a Deluxe edition bonus is so poorly implemented. I know clipping is a problem for a lot of skins, but this is supposed to be an incentive for players to buy the higher tiers of the expac and as it stands this will probably turn a lot of players off.
Also, the outfit honestly looks so basic to me. I’m really tempted to load up a human character and do a mix-and-match armor set to see how close we can get to this outfit with current armor skins.

Oh yeah, to me, this is what I expect a character to look like when they finally finished Queensdale. Not entering the 2nd expansion.

Wow that does look extremely bad! Hilarious too!
Here’s my mix-n-match ‘Sunspear Marshal Armor’ with existing components. Can’t take credit for it though as it was based on images I found online of someone else also trying to get a ‘follower of Kormir’ look going.
- Head: Seer Mask
- Shoulders: Stately Epaulets
- Chest: Illustrious Doublet
- Hands: Sorcerer’s Livery
- Pants: Illustrious Breeches

Yeah, I’m well aware of their excuses but I’m also too tired of them. This is a problem they have, but it’s a problem they needed to have fixed years ago.

The outfit is a complete joke. GW1 paragons’ starter armor looked better than this outfit that is/was supposed to be a selling point for the expansion.
The weapons, while plain looking, at least are interesting and not the worst out there.
